I feel like these rules are much better suited for OT than they are for Spam.

I guess they kind of apply to the occasional Spam thread that delves into a meaningful topic, but those are far from the focus of Spam. Trying to apply these rules to Spam as a whole would mean you're leaving out a lot of key points at best, and just providing bad and/or unusable advice at worst.

I stand by my point that OT would be a much nicer place if people followed these rules over there, though.

I have been freaking out SO much when I see the Series Eight trailers.

I haven't seen any full-length trailers yet, but I did see a few teasers.

And in one of those teasers they had the tiniest little moment that made me very, very excited for things to come - because it implied that they're doing something they haven't done since the Classic series and I'm so happy they're finally getting to it in the new series.

ALSO I FEEL THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO MENTION THIS SINCE THIS IS MY THREAD AND I MAKE THE RULES: As I may have mentioned before, season 8 won't start till I'm in college, and I don't know whether or not I'll actually be able to watch the episodes as they air (first year living in college - don't really know if I can expect that luxury), so because it might take me a while to get around to watching them, I want to say right now that I want all discussion/reactions to season 8 (once it actually airs of course) to be spoiler tagged. We can discuss the show freely when/if I'm able to watch the newest episodes.

In the meantime, I want to know nothing. Even if all my hopes/predictions turn out to be 100% correct - don't tell me. I want to see it for myself.
“Would you like to let me in on this plan of yours?” The First Doctor spoke up, also worried that Eleven’s proposed explosion would be as much danger to his own self as it would the Daleks - not even considering his future self.

Regardless, it seemed that the longer the thought simmered in the Daleks’ minds, the more hesitant they became. As they waited for the Doctor(s) to take further action, they seemed to slowly inch further and further backwards.
"Don't listen to him - it wasn't a fluke." Muse said to Callum. "And you can do lots of things, for that matter. Like... I bet you can control other elements, too." he told him quickly. While Muse wanted to tell Callum the truth about where those powers came from (which he figured would go over rather well since he'd just proved to himself how easy it is to use said powers), a lot was happening at once and he didn't have a ton of time to explain things in detail.

And speaking of multitasking, Muse's attention quickly shifted back to Leon, and his eyes widened in response to the strange kid's words. While he still didn’t sound like he had all his marbles it was clear that he no longer sounded like a being of GM’s creation - at least not 100%. “Wait, so… you’re a roleplayer?” he asked, sounding somewhat amazed. “And this Rose person, she’s a roleplayer, too?”

Meanwhile, GM looked rather bewildered, distracted from his talk with Rae as Kole approached him with questions about his powers. “Wait… hold on…” he backed up a few steps, a look of confusion plastered across his face. “You’re asking me how your powers work?” he asked. “Me, the enemy? Why?” Though, after he let the question sink into his own head for a few seconds, his confusion quickly turned to amusement and laughter. “Wait wait wait, hang on, time out for a second,” he managed to say in-between laughs. “Are you seriously trying to tell me that ol’ Chameleon Circuit over here,” he pointed at Muse. “Is so bad at teaching you this stuff, that almost without hesitation you come to me instead? That. Is. AMAZING!” he exclaimed, before laughing so hard he seemed like he could barely stand.

“Ahhhh… listen, kid.” he spoke up after he’d finished laughing. “I can’t teach you about those powers. At least, not the whole ice thing that the Angel of Emo brought up. Because, his powers and mine are of a very different breed. Particularly, the key to unlocking and using my powers doesn’t sound like something you’d hear in an episode of 80’s My Little Pony.” he explained. “Sooo… unless, of course, you wanna get familiar with the sorts of powers I offer,” he jerked his head in Leon’s direction. “I can’t help you. But that offer is open!” he chimed, mostly out of amusement that Kole could potentially be willing to accept rather than the need for more henchmen.

Mentioning the Men VS Women thread brings back memories. Particularly the 'What is the avatar above you thinking?' thing.Anyways, I find threads with 100+ posts daunting because generally, the plot has already started, and even if the GM says it's open forever, the story has advanced too far and would require quite some time to read it all.

Man, I loved the 'what is the avatar above you thinking' thread. I remember getting some very amusing responses from that one. XD

At any rate, I never expect players to read all the IC before joining an already-started thread, at least not once it's gone on this long. If you really want to join I can always provide you with a quick summary of events; 'tis what I usually do.

...*Teh wave wave*This. This is...Daunting. The post count. All I wanted to say was hai, I'm stalking this thread. o.o

This post count? Daunting?

Fitting I suppose since it's been around pretty much since the dawn of new Guild (could you tell at all that the idea was partially inspired by Guildfall?). Still, I feel the need to point out that I've seen RP's much larger and longer - at least on the old Guild. I've participated in threads with literally hundreds of IC pages and thousands of OOC pages. Though I can see how this website is young enough that no RP could really reach that length yet - unless it moved really really quickly.

But yeah I used to be in an RP whose OOC was literally the longest thread in the entire forum database*. ...We checked.

*Until the Men vs Women thread in the Spam forum outpaced it - but details.

Edit: I got off-topic from the point I was originally trying to make.

Point is, prior to your comment I never would've considered this thread to be of "daunting" length.

Simple version: You know that age-old adage of "You can do anything as long as you believe in it"? That applies here. Literally. Muse just said that Callum had Avatar-like powers in the hope that that would trigger the belief in said powers. If I have this right, the inverse also holds true to some extend. That is, if you have no reason to believe that you are not able to do something, you'll be able to do it. Right, Kaga?EDIT: Also, the BEWD has 3000/2500 in terms of stats. But eh, sidenotes.

Pretty much this.

It works on the principle that everything a roleplayer says/writes in a roleplay becomes "canon" and therefore exists in the Guild world. When you write something, you believe that it becomes part of the roleplay.

Therefore, so long as you believe you are capable of certain things, you can do them. Sorry I didn't explain that to you earlier - I thought I did.

Anyway, that's why Muse said that Callum had a specific set of powers even though he was sort of lying, at least the way he phrased it. Up until this point, he's been telling people, "You can do virtually anything so long as you truly believe you're capable", but that hasn't been working out so well on most RPers. So he told Callum, "These are your powers - trust me because with everything else going on, it's totally believable" hoping he would believe the lie and therefore have said powers. Therefore, when he reveals that he made up the elemental powers thing and explains where those powers really came from, it'll be easier for the other RPers to believe Muse about the way powers work here - and it'll be easier for them to start utilizing the powers themselves.

Points for speeding up the process?

If I haven't yet used the nickname "Snow Lion" IC, remind me to do so in the future.
