I liked "Listen" until it got to the ending where everything seemed to just fall apart in a big mess. And here I thought you were improving Moffat >:T (excuse me while I screech into the distance proclaiming the Gallifrey should stay out of the universe and the Doctor should be dead so Clara can take up the name and save the universe and when she dies she passes the name onto her companion and so on so forth. :3)I'm probably going to skip the Mummy one because phobias.

If there's anything I've learned from season 8, it's that the fandom seems to be incredibly split over what's good and what's not. Everything that has happened so far in this season people seem to either love or hate. No in-between. No widely-held opinions. Everything's either amazing or it sucked.

I for one loved the ending to Listen and actually got really emotional.

But that's just me.

Also I have to ask... why so against the return of Gallifrey? I mean they've been implying for a while now that we would see more of it this season... and I don't see why its return is inherently bad.

Maybe it's not what we think it is.....

...Huh? What do you mean? What's not what we think it is?

Whats the Q stand for?

Queer, supposedly.

I personally can't bring myself to see "queer" as a non-negative term so I've been sticking to the original four-letter abbreviation since that seems to satisfy just about everyone I encounter.

There are quite a few LGBT individuals here. We just don't tend to make that many threads about it. Instead, we all just kind of mingle together without thinking much of anything about it. *shrugs*

And, if you ask me, that's kind of the best possible scenario, there. Total equality and all that, you know?

Apparently the Christmas special is the Season finale....so, Expect giant Cliffhanger (Very High and giant one)It also sounds...Fianle-y But it's the 13th episode so it's not Death in Heaven

Just picture the Doctor getting into some sort of crazy, life-threatening situation, and then he actually dies without regenerating, and then he opens his eyes to see Missy smiling back at him saying "Welcome to heaven"... and then it cuts to the end credits.

... I'm calling this now.

The internet will freak the hell out and I will be left only wanting to applaud Moffat for his fantastic trolling.

Yeah I don't like their sort of rushed "explanation" of his soldier problemI really doesn't make sense, maybe they'll explain?

If they do explain, it better be a damn good explanation.

Cue the dark titles!...But, I say this will be the episode Missy and the promised land/"Heaven" come into play at least a bit. I don't think it'll be creepy....perhaps dark. Maybe someone heart fails....*cough*

I actually have this theory that the Doctor will "die" at some point during this season, thus bringing him to "heaven". It kind of makes perfect sense considering Twelve has already been shown to be the most skeptical version of the Doctor we've ever met, so there's no way the Doctor would believe that heaven is real or that he's actually dead, so upon meeting Missy I'm sure he would start questioning her about the whole deal almost immediately. If she doesn't provide answers, the Doctor will go poking around the place to find some answers himself. Either way, not only will we get to learn more about this whole thing but the Doctor will actually become aware of this whole plot thread, too, thus getting the plot moving. (And then, of course, he will somehow be brought back to life before long - be it the result of something that happens back in the world of the living, or the result of the Doctor meddling in whatever the hell is actually going on.)

I have a feeling this could be the episode where this happens. Though, I have a feeling it will be spread out somewhat between two episodes, since... Come on. Just picture the Doctor getting into some sort of crazy, life-threatening situation, and then he actually dies without regenerating, and then he opens his eyes to see Missy smiling back at him saying "Welcome to heaven"... and then it cuts to the end credits.

That totally sounds like something Moffat would do.

Of course, there's also the obvious choice of leaving that sort of thing for the finale (assuming they're planning on doing this at all), but that would mean that the Doctor wouldn't even become aware of heaven or Missy until near the end of the season, and that doesn't sound like Moffat's style. The Doctor's gonna learn about all this nonsense earlier than that, I'm almost certain.

This....This is going to be a creepy episode I say...but with action. The title screams "Vashta Nerada" But...I think they were a one off. But, Definitely...claustrophobic I think.

Just because a certain alien or monster was originally intended as a one-off doesn't mean they won't ever come back. I mean, they just brought back the clock-people from Girl in the Fireplace, and certainly none of us expected that! Not to mention all those aliens that were one-offs way back in the Classic series that they managed to bring back for one more episode in the new series, like the Zygons or the Macra.

I also get the vibe that a number of new Who aliens were originally supposed to be one-offs until they decided to re-use them, like the Weeping Angels. (Granted that's not backed up by anything in particular - just my guess.) And, hell, even the Daleks, the single alien species that has been around for the longest (not counting Time Lords), was originally a one-off creature.

There is no such thing as a one-off alien in Doctor Who. So long as the show's still running, everything has the potential to be re-used someday.

So yeah. It's entirely possible that the Vashta Nerada could come back. Which could be interesting, if done right.

Isn't the Christmas episode title out now? Or Am I stupid and Death in Heaven is that...

It might've been released elsewhere for all I know, but it isn't listed on Netflix yet. Death is Heaven probably isn't the Christmas special, though, since Netflix usually leaves the Christmas episodes specially marked. Plus, it just sounds too much like a season finale to be anything else.

Man that "I don't travel with soliders" Was so out of place...Sure He's doesn't exactly like Soliders....but it was just....soo....weirdSoon my precious.....soon

Yeah, it seems like the only reason they came up with that was so the Doctor would have some reason to reject Pink. ...And then they only worked it into that particular episode so that they could establish that point ahead of time while they had the opportunity. :/

Edit: Also the whole notion that he doesn't like soldiers in general still doesn't make any sense. Sure maybe Ten didn't like guns, and Eleven didn't like using guns himself (though he was just fine with River using them...), and sure they both got kind of annoyed by military types, but that was only due to their general human stupidity which companions tend to be an exception to. Not to mention, in the Classic series the Doctor not only had a few incarnations where he would actually pick up a gun from time to time, but the Third Doctor practically lived with UNIT for most of his era (the TARDIS was out-of-commission for a while, so he was stuck on Earth), with the majority of his episodes involving him running around with those same military types that he now seems to hate so much for some reason. ...Granted, that's not to say he didn't spend a lot of time yelling at people to not blow up every alien thing they see, but still! There were a lot of great soldier characters that he got along with really well.

Like Sergeant Benton. Sergeant Benton was fucking adorable.

And I mean, I know that each Doctor kind of has a different view on things, but... there kind of has to be some justification for it. Not to mention his varying opinions on firearms are kind of different from the whole idea of practically discriminating against soldiers. And if they're trying to claim that his anti-soldier opinions are something he's always kind of had... then no. No no no. In the case of the new Doctors, sort of. But overall? No.
And then I remembered that all the episode titles for season 8 are on Netflix now, so I'll just post up the titles for everything past Time Heist along with my initial reactions.

"The Caretaker"

This sounds vaguely familiar - like it was a title held by a character we've already met or something. Hmm... Alternatively, since there's reason to believe that season 8 will feature more Time Lords than we normally see in the new series, it is theoretically possible that this is a Time Lord name.

"Kill the Moon"

Well jeez that's a title. For some reason this title makes me think of Dr. Moon from Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. It would be awesome if that's what they're trying to reference, since the whole concept of the library could theoretically tie in to that whole "heaven" thing going on. Also I heard rumors that River Song is making a return this season. If that's true, then it makes sense that this is where she'd show up.

"Mummy on the Orient Express"

I think I'll just toss this one on the pile next to "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" and "Time Heist"...

"Flatline"

Well this got dark again fairly quickly. This season seems to have a very strong life/death theme, I'm noticing...

"In the Forest of the Night"

Given the fact that we're reaching the end of the season, ominously-dark titles are to be expected, I suppose.

"Dark Water"

Same.

"Death in Heaven"

I know they made it kind of obvious that the whole heaven thing was building up towards the season finale, but that doesn't make me any less excited. :3 I actually really wanna see where this goes.

Wow you guys had that entire conversation while I was at school (which i'm still at) hence the reason I haven't participatedI wanna throw my 2 centsI'm really like capaldi, he's interesting, and lost, like a puppy, I really like Clara too, what are you guys opinions on her?

I'm kind of conflicted with Clara. She used to be higher up on my list, but then Deep Breath made me kind of pissed off at her, which knocked her down a few pegs, but now given the events of Listen it feels necessary to bring her back up again... hmm...

Tsk, Then again....There was "Inside a dalek" or something to that affect (I dunno that episode was meh)...A few episode are quite....direct

It was "Into the Dalek", which, the way it was phrased, kind of made you assume that it was supposed to be metaphorical. I remember being very intrigued as to where they were going with that in the days leading up to that episode. ...And then I started watching it and realized they were being completely literal, which honestly caught me by surprise. o.o So actually I think that title was kind of clever.

GOD DAMN IT JUST ADD PINK TO THE TEAM ALREADY!

As much as I want this to happen, the writers went out of their way to point out that Twelve apparently doesn't want soldiers traveling with him... which seems really odd and out-of-nowhere, frankly. I mean I really wanna know where that came from since he didn't have any such problem before. :/ But yeah it's clear at this point that they aren't gonna just let him hop on board the TARDIS and the Doctor's gonna make a big deal about it, even though it also feels really obvious that he'll become a companion eventually... So my guess is that he's gonna have some episode where he'll have to prove his worth in some way in order to convince the Doctor to let him stay. Not sure how I feel about that.
