Kaiden beamed at Kalinda. "Progress!" he said cheerfully. Kaiden glanced at his phone and looked at the time. "Power development huh? OK I'll follow you."

Before they started walking a blast of dark smoke erupted in front of the two, the sulpheric smell so familiar and telling, the pungent odor filling the air around them.
Kaiden's dad, Nightcrawler, appeared before them, his tail swinging behind him excitedly as he looked down at the two. "Ah, hello son! I was told I could find you here!"

Kaiden staggered back a step then swung his arm out to try and clear the smoke and it's stench. "Dad! What the hell?"

Kurt grinned, flashing his sharp teeth. "I've finished enrolling you." He handed a thick folder with paperwork to his son. "This has everything you need to get started. I see you've already made friends. I'm surprised" he chuckled.

Kaiden glared at his dad, yanking the folder away. "Thanks. You can go now."

"Not a lot. Just some" Kalinda said "I fly. I suppose one day I could learn to teleport through the shadows" She musecd for a minute, "Okay. So intense emotions. Let's try something" She said, moving to the other side of the gym "Stay there. Close your eyes. Calm yourself. And Imagine me, lets see if you can teleport to me" She said brightly, thinking it was a starting point and something to see if he could do.

Kaiden watched Kalinda move away from him, his hands clenching the extra fabric of his sweater that hung over his wrists. "Ok" Kaiden responded, not sure this would work. He had tried to focus on his teleportation before and hadn't had much success. Kaiden stared ahead at Kalinda, meeting her eyes and observing her smile, not blinking. He smirked a bit, thinking how funny this seemed for a moment, then focused back in on what he was trying to do. He stared hard at Kalinda, his mind racing with thoughts and all about her. He thought back to when he first had arrived and all the different students he met; she was definitely one that he enjoyed being around with the most. His thoughts brought him to the comfort she gave him as he subconsciously wished he was next to her, closer, and before he realized what was happening Kaiden disappeared in a blast of airy smoke, reappearing before Kalinda. Kaiden hadn't appeared right before Kalinda but had landed slightly more than half way of their distance between them. He blinked through the smoke as it quickly cleared, staring at her in surprise. "Hey!" He grinned in triumph as it was more control than he had ever had before. "It worked! Sort of..." he jogged over to her the rest of the way.
Sounds good to me! I've never done it though before but I'll follow the lead.
"Oh right, skin contact only" he nodded, understanding. He grinned an followed her through in to the gym. "You have a lot of ability's!" Kaiden said surprised and impressed. He was mentally trying to keep track of them. He wondered if he could do more than simply teleport.

"How did I feel?" Kaiden responded, unsure. "Um, I felt really intense. An intensity or passion if you will that made me react without thinking. Like when you see someone about to get hurt and you have the ability to stop them, you just react right? It's like a reflex I guess. It only happens when my emotions rise out of control. Happy, sad, angry, concerned, whatever." He was glad he could talk it out. "You teleport right? Or fly?"
"You're not the only one with a headache, mate" Kaiden responded to Quinn from across the room. He was slouched against the wall sitting with his knees up and apart, arms resting on his knees, head hanging for a moment. His face was concealed by his thick dark hair, until he raised his head, setting his blue eyes on Quinn with a narrowed glare, half formed out of discomfort and half out of frustration.

Kaiden slowly lifted himself up off of the floor, staggering back a step and resting his back against the wall as he regained his balance. His head was spinning slightly and his vision was a bit distorted, although he could see the clarity slowly returning. He was drugged. It didn't take a genius to know what had happened to him. But everything else was a mystery at this point. He had been vaguely awake, listening to James make his announcement to the room. He couldn't believe the world had gone so far as to bring destruction on itself at such a rapid pace. He hadn't fathom experiencing this moment in his lifetime. He could not remember anything beyond waking up in this crowded room. He decided to look around to find more information as to where he was and what he was to do. Although James made it clear they were here together to put the world back together again...somehow.

Looking down, Kaiden saw his hand had a wristband around it. It showed his personal information including name, age, height, weight and blood type. He then noticed the white sleeve and came to see he was wearing a white lab coat over dark jeans and a fitted black shirt. He worked here apparently. Perhaps he had been working here before they had been put in a 2 year stasis.

2 years. He couldn't believe he had been out for 2 years. When he saw James reach to touch the back of his neck, he curiously followed suite and ran his hand up along the back of his neck until he felt the thick band of skin folded in a straight line up his neck, a deep scar. He couldn't recall why he would choose to be here but obviously outside would be much worse at this moment. Kaiden just couldn't understand why he had been chosen to help. He was fit but no large physical threat, could not recall any martial, firearm or even technical skills. Why was he here? How could he possibly help?

Kaiden looked around the room to the others, some waking, some already awake and moving to explore the area. Kaiden's eyes fell back to Quinn, the smoker. He stuck his hands in his pockets looking for anything of his own to spark his memory of before. All he found was a safety pin, a small blade, some change, and a clip wallet. In it was no ID but some money, what looked like an old key card and a laminated photo of an older woman, perhaps in her 50's. He stared at the woman and her soft smile, unsure who she was or why she was in his pocket. He put the picture back in the clip and stuffed it in to his jeans again. He would care about it later.

Taking a deep breath Kaiden carefully walked forward. The more he moved, the faster he seemed to recover from whatever drug he was put under.

"Trust me, it's taken a good year and a half for me to develop control over my empathic abilities and even then it's been sketchy, but I have come very good at controlling myself. My shadow abilities were easier to control, and my flight once I actually had a chance to use it. My telekenisis is...well. I could be better with that" she said as she started towards the gym "my point is, you aren't going to learn control all at once, so be patient" she said giving Kaiden a smile

Kaiden returned her smile. He finally felt calm and at ease around her, as always. He reached out and took her hand. "I like you. You're a good person" Kaiden said simply. He let go, remembering her need to avoid touch and block emotions. He couldn't see how good emotions could do any harm but he didn't want to risk it. "Sorry." He pocketed his hands in his sweater and fell silent for a moment. He glanced around as they neared the gym entrance.
Great, thanks Caits. I'm not sure if the first class time frame has passed and we need to push forward or not yet. I'll just follow your lead.

Kalinda sighed, slipping out of the shadows briefly. "He's new. He can't control himself." She let herself fall back into the shadows, shaking slightly. She sighed heavily, and tracked Kaidian again. As soon as she found him again, she slammed her mental blocks up again, and slipped out the shadows next to him."Control is important. Come on, let's go to the gym. I can try and help you, and the gyms big enough that you can try and jump or whatever it is you can do there. Without landing in the middle of a hostile situation." She said

Kaiden turned to look at Kalinda ash she reappeared by his side. He continued walking, turning his head forward again, frustrated and slightly embarrassed. "That's the last time I care about someone I don't know" Kaiden scowled. "I need to learn to block it out so I don't ever get to the point of doing something stupid like that." He stopped walking and looked at Kalinda. "Yeah let's try the gym I guess. I just want to be able to use my ability when I want, not by emotion or some other compulsion or randomness." Kaiden wanted to not only gain control of himself but find out if there was any other ability he hadn't yet discovered. He didn't like surprises and wanted to know what he needed to focus on perfecting.
Hey Caits can I continue Kaiden with Kalinda where we left off? Let me know if that's cool with you and I'll make the first post.
lol I like that advice :)
