That sounds like a good number to me as well.
With the large number of kids it could cause an incentive for certain things. Like a school to teach the older kids to survive in the new word, and a nursery if theres infants and babies in the group. Also the moral question of on whether the children should grow up faster or let them be kids.

the final bell for the new girl's first day of school. Keiko looked up to the clock. She still has some free time before Obachan is off her day shift. She packed her books and looked out the window for a moment. Keiko felt odd, this almost feels normal, she could even relaxed, child services shouldn't come to this place looking for her.

"Kobashigawa San!" Keiko looked away from the window to look at the voice. The voice belonged to Hamako Toji. Keiko smiles softly, "Oh, hello Toji san." Keiko responded softly, Hamako grinned happily, "You should join one of the clubs! I'm already in one, but I can show you since your new and all!" Hamako was practically yelling at this point, most of their classmates flinched or looked at her weirdly, Keiko simply kept smiling, she dealt with worse.

"Sure!" Keiko replied brightly, she hasn't been in a club in a long time, and Obasan would like her to be more like her age. Hamako's eyes are sparkling, Hamako really wants to be a good friend. "I think you would love the Kyuudo club!" Hamako said and she give Keiko how to get there from the classroom, Keiko listened intently.

"And that how you get there, Wait I'm going to be late for my own club! I see you later! It was nice meeting you!" Hamako blurted all so quickly and then ran off.

The classroom was empty except for her in the room. She sighed happily, she missed being a normal girl and doing normal girl things even for a few hours. Since she doesn't know of any other clubs so she decided to join the Kyuudo club. She collected all her books and pencils which she was paid for by the hidden safe in Obachan's basement, it was enough to pay for the first month's bills so Obachan can get a job and support them in the new town and also some new clothes for her, Obachan kept her old clothes, which her cleaner than most homeless people's clothes so she won't get outed as a recently homeless woman. Obachan has sort of adopted of her by all accounts but legally. OBachan protected her and understood her and her plight. But Keiko wished Obachan would stop telling her to reconnect with her parents, they are cruel and only care about money.

Keiko shakes her head, she had to think positive. So she left the classroom as the last student and looked for the club room.

"Sure is easy to get lost..." Keiko muttered under her breath Hamako's directions weren't that reliable. She kept peeking into the windows of the clubrooms, most looked busy so she didn't bother peeking in for questions.
When peeking in and out of rooms she sees a room with a lone boy with potted plants and chairs, looked bare bones, must be a day off. She decided to go into the room and ask the young man her questions she needed answers to.

She opened the door and went into the clubroom. ""Hello! Hi. um." Keiko greeted herself nervously, she wasn't really sure how to talk to boys her age.

3. Jogging - She always staying fit and she can run a marathon if she wanted too, but never enough free time to do so.
4. Reading - She loves to read and is saddened that she can't read as often anymore.
5. Story telling - She loves telling stories of either what she read or of what she heard when she was young.

Associated NPCs:
Aasia - Alina's best friend daughter. Her mother passed away after the cataclysm, Aasia was attacked by her mother but was saved by Alina before she got hurt. Alina vowed to protect Aasia. seven-years-old.
Erin - A young boy Alina found before finding the caravan. He's very nice and polite and curious about Alina's Hijab and about what happened. Alina adopted him since he was alone and she can't get any clear answer from Erin about his past. Eight-year-old.

History:

Alina is a second generation Pakistani from Kansas, Topeka, raised in a religious and loving home. Her parents taught her right from wrong since she was a young girl. She was never as religious as her parents, but she believed enough to follow the rules of Quran and to always be the best she can be as a person. She was bullied every now and again, but she always paid it back with kindness and love. Sometimes people regret what they did and ask for her forgiveness or they walk all over her. When she got older she got better at dealing with being stepped on and fighting back and protecting herself but she was still the kind girl of her childhood.

She went to college to become a plumber. It was here she made friends with an older student, Madia. They hit it off and became fast friends. Alina even became Aasia's godmother a year after they met. After graduating and becoming a plumber she got a full-time job. But she used her weekends volunteering at a soup kitchen to feed people. She became popular with the local homeless people since she was kind and always want to hear their stories.

She helped raised Aasia as an auntie to the girl they were always close. Alina and Madia were still close as sisters.

But then everything changed. The cataclysm happened when she was at the soup kitchen. She was shocked and horrified she tried to help to them, but it did nothing. In a moment of fear, she called her parents but they didn't pick up. She called her friends, none of them picked up. She called Madia, Aasia picked up, she was crying, she said her mother wouldn't wake up. Alina told Aasia to calm down and she will be there as quick as humanly possible. She arrived at her best friends house which was down the road from the soup kitchen. When Alina entered she heard Aasia screaming and Alina run to her, to her horror she saw her friend attacking her daughter. Alina protected Aasia. Alina put on a brave face for Aasia and they hid there for a few days after Alina hid Madia's body, they stayed at the house for a bit since she seen the dead people walking outside the house like zombies, so she thought it would be better for the horde of zombie thinned out over the next few days then going right away After all the food ran out they had to leave for somewhere safe. They took the family car and drove through the thinned out hordes of zombies. On their travels, they found a boy on the side of the road, seemingly lost and crying. Alina Let the boy come with them. Aasia and Erin became fast friends.

Alina after days of driving found the caravan and joined them. Hoping that as a group they can last better than a young woman and two children.

Personality:

An incredible gentle and polite young lady. But she seems to holds onto a great deal of anger and sadness from her past. But she tries to be optimistic and stay grounded. She works incredibly hard and persist through life, she's caring to those having a rough time giving them an ear and a shoulder to cry onto. She can come off as bitter at times and can be dismissive of people troubles she considers it 'not real trouble,' but she apologizes whenever she does this and will try not to do it again. She tries not make people worry or sad, so she avoids telling people her troubles and woes. And she is ashamed of being homeless.

Equipment/Skills:

She knows how to stay hidden and to survive without a home since she is homeless. Can sleep anywhere and anytime with as little sleep as humanly possible. She has learned how to use a knife as both a weapon and as a survival tool. Her most prized item and really only keepsake of her old life is a butterfly knife which belonged to her brother.

Background:

Keiko Ito, was born as the younger daughter of two children she was raised in a loving home, she loved her parents and was so happy with her brother. It was the perfect household, with loving parents that spoiled their two humble but naive children. Keiko was loved by her classmates and teachers for how hard she does everything in and out of school. But she spends most of her free time with her brother who was smart and was an honored student. Even though he was a lot older than she was he played with her and indulged in her fantasies and stories.
As she gotten older she grew to be her own person, spending less time with her brothers and working harder in school to be a teacher and help children and she loved spending time with children often being a really good senpai to her kohais. But she still loving spending her little free time with her brother and parents who over the years became less happy with her mother losing a job and her father having to work extra shifts at work to keep them afloat. but Keiko barely noticed.

But on the year she started high school their house caught on fire. Keiko was passed out due to the carbon monoxide from the fire. Her brother rescued her, but he suffered serious injuries and brain damage from all the carbon monoxide. He survived, but he went into a coma with a very unlikely chance of ever recovering. She was felt with regret in that she couldn't even thank him for his rescue and also that he might never recover because of her.

She started to hate her parents because to her all they cared about was the house and not that the fact that their son might die or at least be brain dead. But in reality they did care and was devastated by it but they put on a brave face so Keiko would stop blaming herself and try to move on. She didn't.

One night when staying in a hotel room, she ran off in the middle of the night, with only the clothes on her back and a few small things. The start was the hardest, but a homeless woman helped her survive on the streets. The homeless woman and Keiko stayed together for the better part of the year. In moments of doubt, Keiko called her mother's cell phone, saying she misses her and wants to be with them. But she is always reminded of all her anger when she hears her mother voice. There was only one time she spoke to her mother. Which was the most recent call, she never told a soul what she told her mother. Not even the friendly woman.

Keiko and the homeless had to move from town to town so child services doesn't get her and return her to her parents. She just so happened to return to the homeless woman hometown. For now the two found an abandoned house which was the woman's childhood home.

The homeless woman tries to keep Keiko healthy and even wants to permanently move to Warakuma so that Keiko could grow roots and try to have a normal life.

Her new name is Keiko Kobashigawa the homeless woman's maiden name. She will try to have a normal life as a runaway youth.

A tall slender feminine figure covered in a white skin tight suit with black thigh high boots, with a black sleeveless tunic that covers down to her upper hips with slits on the side that go up part her abdomen almost to the bottom of her rib cage. She has black silk gloves that go up to her elbows. She carries a golden dagger and silver flintlock gun. She wears a black biker helmet with only red lipstick to add any expression on her there's long flowing curly black hair coming out the of the helmet.
