Seeing what was about to happen Kat steeled herself. “And now it’s time to be brave.” She sighed, as she turned to the pilot briefly. “No matter what happens, you keep flying. Don’t try to fight him or protect me, you must only fly us back.” And then she heard the wrenching sound of the door being pulled forcibly from its hinges. Quickly turning to confront him she felt her arms being jerked in front of her as her vambraces clashed together, pinning her wrists together. “I suppose that was an oversight on my behalf, though thankfully you have no sway over leather.”
Magneto didn’t seem amused. “Of course it would be you, deceit runs in your blood. That and being unsagacious.”
Kat laughed, but it held a more barbed edge than usual. “Well how could I neglect such a reputation, I do hate to disappoint.” In response she felt her wrists dragged downwards, hitting the hard floor below. The movement was so quick her legs fell from under her, her head thrown forward. Gritting her teeth, she curled her legs closer to her and splayed her hands on the ground but refused to look at him, to look up at him.
It was Magneto’s turn to laugh now. “Keep your empty arrogance if you insist. After you father so publicly revealed your presence I began to read about your mythology. Not long ago I would have laughed, but if so much has been proved true, what is to say the pagan ways are not also. There are some interesting spells; some even mention the binding of celestials.”
Her hands curled into fists and she threw a glance over her shoulder. They were over land now, they must be close. She couldn’t tell just how close right now, but it was all she needed to know for now. Finally she looked up at him, narrowing her eyes, and held her glare. She sat still this way for a couple of seconds before a wave of magical energy seemed to pulse from her, knocking back everything in its path and sending Magneto flying backwards. The plane shuddered as the pilot tried to get it back under control, and as her wrists were freed she was thrown to the side with the motion of the plane. Pushing herself back up she took a breath and looked about to see how the situation now stood.
