Bruce, with his usual resolve, forces his emotions to remain hidden behind a calm face as he replies, "I'll tell you, but I'd like to do it in private. Also, where's your mother?"

Anthony looks at the sandwich suspiciously before saying, "How do I know you didn't just happen to have brought poison with you? After all, I did something similar to your boyfriend, and revenge is very tempting and quite satisfying when done well. Trust me, if that's possible, I know." He then smiles and replies, "I agree with you completely about telepaths, but I've been working with Professor Xavier on learning how to thwart them. I can't yet stop telepaths from invading my mind, but I recognize the sensation now, no matter how subtle, and can completely change my train of though instantaneously, blocking them from any useful information. Now, back to the matter at hand. She seems to have gone through a change that took away her telepathy and perhaps strengthened her powers."

John laughs, "I might be light on my feet in sports, but I can't dance to save my life. Let's go get some ice cream."

I'm working for a couple more hours, but I promise not to go to sleep until Phoebe is back, Anthony and Kijani are done talking, and John and Kalinda are done hanging out.

John nods and asks with a smile, "Speaking of which, the nights still young. Want to do anything else?"

"I'm glad that you didn't ask to bring Connor. He may have firepower and some intelligence, but I don't think he could have done what we would need him to do. How well do you know the alien?" Anthony asks while calculating how likely it was that Kijani had poisoned the aforementioned sandwich.

After the tigers had been cared for, Anthony strides back into his house, his cheeks slightly flushed. He says to Kijani, "Before we confront your grandmother, we'll need to visit my father. He has a strange fascination with keeping trophies and mementos of his successes, so if any place has more information about the matter at hand, it'll be at his home. Afterwards, we'll find Ms. Waller. We'll need a couple of people to go with us, but they need to be trustworthy and not afraid to get dirty. I've chosen one acquaintance that has already agreed to come with us. Do you have any suggestions for another?"

John grins, "I might be able to convince the teacher to agree to a basketball game." Once he finishes his pizza, he makes eye contact with the waitress. As she approaches, he says to Kalinda with a smile, "Thanks for hanging out with me tonight, it's a nice change of pace." The waitress walks past John, stumbling slightly and, as he holds out his hands to make sure she doesn't fall, she grasps his hands for a moment. The waitress then regains her balance instantly and walks away. A few minutes later, she hands John the receipt for the dinners and his debit card.

Bruce answers briefly as he walks towards the creek, "We're in the middle of the Montana wilderness. Phoebe and her mother are staying in that cabin." He passes over the creek with one casual leap and continues toward the cabin.

But much to her displeasure Kimura discovered that she'd become pregnant. Wanting nothing to do with the burden of parenting or the hit to her performance she demanded that the life be extinguished. But the scientists convinced her otherwise, saying they could place the embryo in an incubation chamber and grow it artificially. With a brand new life form based on one of their own creations the Facility set out to improve upon the original. Manipulating the development process the new specimen would be able to control the density of it's entire body, not just the skin. They succeeded with their task, creating a being that was highly resistant to damage. Raised by the Facility they started her brainwashing as soon as she could understand. She still acted out however. But being as resilient as they had made her there was little they could do to reprimand her. Even her own mother, known for the ruthless beatings she would give X-23, couldn't inflict harm on the child. Despite this though the project was turning out to be a success. Unfortunately for the Facility their plans were cut short. Who knows how far she would have fallen had not SHIELD found the hidden lab. A joint incursion breached the defenses and those that didn't get captured fled. All the assets and experiments were taken by the authorities, including Specimen-533. While in the care of SHIELD very little changed. The girl refused to speak or interact with anyone there. She'd heard too much about these people to trust them. Running low on options it was decided to take another approach. Arrangements were made to have her transferred to the academy in hopes that exposure to a more inviting environment with others her age would improve her behavior.Appearance: Note: Her powers do not increase her strength, size, weight, or stamina. Beyond her resilience she's normal. Never liking the training exercises she was given she's neglected to learn very much hand to hand as well.

Anthony nods, "You'll get the chance to confrot her, I assure you. And yes, the kitchen's stocked. I'd offer to make you something, but there are certain matters I need to attend to." He leads her to the kitchen, then walks into the backyard to care for his pets.

"I remember you telling me you like basketball. Maybe one day I'll get the chance to see just how good you are." John answers.

"These are the same type of teleporters we used for Justice League missions. You'll feel a slight tingle in your gut, but it'll be over soon." Bruce explains. With one thought that he allows the Martian Manhunter to pick up, a switch is flipped and the world around the three fades, only to be replaced with the sight of lush forestry. Nearby is a small creek, and just on the other side is a small log cabin.
