Overview

Kingdom Hearts: Dirge of the World Eater is an alternate-universe Kingdom Hearts roleplay created by Kurai and Wayward and centered around an original cluster of Worlds. It will follow a Keyblade Master and his group of apprentices as they try to seal away an ancient terror, all while striving to become masters, facing a menacing villain, and fighting Heartless along the way. The tone will be similar to the main Kingdom Hearts series (KH 1 and 2), perhaps slightly darker, and Disney worlds will be featured. While the main roster only consists of eight slots (one Master and his three apprentices, as well as one villain and his three apprentices), original characters will still be welcomed and we will do our best to work any and all participants into the story.

I will be playing the Dark Keyblade master and Wayward will be playing the Light Keyblade master, so the apprentice slots are what we're looking to fill. The RP will be focused around the apprentices, while the masters are there mostly to guide the story and facilitate the apprentices' character development.

Why "Dirge of the World Eater?"

Glad you asked! Here's a short summary of the back story surrounding this RP:

50 years prior to the start of the RP, a monster of darkness invaded the cluster of worlds the story takes place in. Within only days of it's appearance it had devoured four of the eleven worlds, earning it the name "World Eater." Making its way to the fifth planet, the Keybearers of the cluster knew they had to stop the beast. They met it in battle in a world called Ancient Desert. However, the beast was too powerful and they were not able to kill it outright. So, in an effort to keep the worlds safe, the Key Bearers locked the beast into a prison of light that rose into the sky over the world they fought upon. The light was made from the Key Bearer’s hearts, and as long as they lived the prison would hold. The world was renamed Hero’s Requiem in honor of the battle and the fallen Key Bearers.

Much has changed during the fifty years between the Battle of Ancient Desert and the present. The Key Bearers, once known unanimously as stalwarts of justice, are now split into two distinct groups. On one side is the former enforcers, vigilant in protecting the cluster by any means necessary. On the other side lies the Key Bearers who wish to use their power for personal gain, darkened by the years of twilight that followed the imprisonment of the World Eater.

Meanwhile, a shadowy presence claws at the edges of the worlds as it appears Heartless have returned to wreak havoc on the cluster, but the Keybearers are at a loss as to why.

All the while, as the Keybearers that fought in the Battle of Ancient Desert begin to grow old and pass on, the World Eaters prison grows weaker and weaker...
Does this sound interesting to any of you out there?
Approved, Chev.
Alright everyone, I'm planning to launch tomorrow! Anyone wanting to make changes or get characters in, please do so today or early tomorrow! The future is within our grasp, people!
Well, I'm still here. Maybe give the three above you a day or two more to put up a sheet, otherwise we could just roll with the three of us here? It'd be like an actual game of Mass Effect, haha. Your call though, not sure if you wanted to try with a smaller cast.
Haha, it's fine Blue Slyph, that is relevant to the RP after all.

Also, I wanted to make the announcement that I fill be formally starting the IC thread sometime this weekend. More likely it will be Friday or Saturday, but it may end up being Sunday depending on how quickly I can sort everything out on my end. Also, this gives FoxFired and Chev a chance to get up their characters, as well as anyone else that may be interested in joining. As of the moment, I'm not sure whether or not I will keep the thread open for new participants after IC posting starts.

Stay tuned, everyone! We launch in a couple days!
Assallya, please, refer to the post just above you. Yes, your post is Star Wars related, but it has nothing to do with this RP. Please bring your discussion with TheUnknown to PMs.
As interesting as that question is, I'm going to have to stop this discussion prematurely, I'm afraid.

Everyone, I'd like to ask that we cut the off-topic conversations short for the time being. I don't mean to be rude to anyone but this OOC has bloated to four pages without any IC posts at all, and I would like to still keep it accessible for any others that may want to join. Feel free, of course, to continue these discussions outside of the thread. Once the IC gets rolling, we won't have to limit ourselves as much, but for now I'd appreciate it if you all would humor me.
Ah, I see. I don't think it's a direct analogy to either, though I think you're right in that it is likely closer to Correlian-Alderanian. Near-Human is closer to human than humanoid, after all, but near-humans are still not humans by Star Wars standards.

... now I'm getting into semantics, haha.

Technically, aren't the Echani a subspecies of human, about as far from us as we are from Neanderthals? I guess it depends on how you define "human".

"The Echani had anatomy similar to humans, but a common feature was that they had light skin, white hair and silver eyes.[3] They exhibited among themselves a remarkable sameness in body type and facial traits" -from Wookiepedia

Being that humans have ridiculously immense variety, I'd say not, though they are near-human. I'm not sure about the whole Neanderthal comparison, it might not be too far off. Not sure what you were getting at though, other than calling me out on semantics.
Dawnon, your revised character is accepted.

The Blue Sylph, your character is accepted as well, and might I add how impressive the sheet is. I like your thought out history, interesting character traits (not human! Yay!) and mix of trooper and jedi. Well done.
