"U wot m8"

The Izanagi was, for all intents and purposes, incomplete. Under construction with no way to finish it now. If there was one thing Admiral Skye would give the Cruxi credit for, it would be that they had impeccable timing. Truth be told, he had figured it was news of that sort when Boris hesitated to reply. As far as the Admiral was concerned, the Izanagi was now an incomplete ship nowhere near combat or space readiness.

Of all the times he could have been told that the Izanagi wasn't ready it had to be now? With the Cruxi fleet coming in? Perfect timing.

"...then it can't he helped - we'll have to abandon her with the rest of the planet." Airick said. Did he regret it? Of course he did. But did he have the time to show it? Considering that the Cruxi were here in full force with full intent to kill everyone inside - probably not. "We'll have to find or commandeer another ship. There's no use in an incomplete ship now."

I believe I will follow the same policy for Isabel as well.

Also, just a note I gave Isabel some extra equipment.
A Cruxi attack? Here? With coincidentally enough force to wipe out the more than average defences? Much larger than their average invasion force? Airick was not a believer of coincidences - to believe in such would have cost him his life years ago. No, there was more to it. However, there was no time to waste.

As much as he would like to believe otherwise, this facility was done - no doubt about it. The Cruxi were here in force and not even the Yamaguchi seemed capable of stopping them. That meant they had to evacuate everyone on the station with the ships that remained - including his. Strange - a week ago he would have been expecting such a thing and even be prepared for it - albeit at high costs - with his 3rd defence fleet, but here he was, stripped of rank, fleet and crew, and all of a sudden he felt much more vulnerable than before, even if the defence fleet here could tear through his former fleet with sheer firepower.

"Well?" he said, turning to Boris, beginning a quick pace towards the Izanagi, "I don't know who the crew will be, but they need to get on board the Izanagi ASAP. Have the engines started - we'll cram as much personnel as we can inside while the defence fleet holds them off and we'll warp out as soon as we've cleared the dock."
Airick took a moment to slowly let the image of the ship Sink in. He had seen Izanagi-Class ships when he was being taken to the station, but to think that he was being given one - granted, he was probably one of the most experienced officers in the navy at the moment, but when he had been dragged away from his command carrier he did not expect something like this.

Nothing like this.

Vertical Rocket Launch Systems placed as long as he could go. From what he could see, he could not find any standard point defence weapons, but that was fine - he knew that there were types of missiles designed to replace such weapons. Judging by the large numbers of VRLS in place, there was probably a missile based point defence system in place.

The long length of armour and the shield systems the ship must have - he knew that it could be dozens of times stronger than some of the ships the navy had. He could not imagine the specifications of this ship.

And then there was the long weapon that stretched through much of the length of the ship.

"Is that... a wave motion lance?" he asked with a hint of veiled excitement in his voice.
"...No. No, I cannot." Airick finally admitted. "I have no idea how that feels, and I'm sorry. It's just that, well, a lot of this could have been put to other use. With just the Yamaguchi, we could have held at least a dozen more systems than what we managed to do so. I did not mean to be rude, and I apologize."

Letting out a sigh, Airick saw the monitor again and stared as a boy brazenly and openly disrespected a superior.

"...is that... kid... going to be on my ship too?" Airick as slowly as he continued following Boris. "I sincerely hope, for as much as his sake as for mine, that the facility here will instil these kids with some semblance of discipline?"

XXXXX

What. An. Idiot.

Kaila could not help but shake her head at Drake's tone. Could he not see what was going on? Did he really think they could get away with talking like that here? The man was clear - they could all be killed at any moment. No hesitation.

Sighing, she turned back to Lorenzo. This entire situation was overwhelming for her, but she had faced worse. Racing down bombed streets, shouting and death all around her as the Cruxi overran her home - at least this place didn't have anyone actively trying to kill her. Yet. The part about becoming some sort of military experimental pilot didn't concern her the least, truth be told - ever since that incident, she thought she would be unable to serve at all. Here, at least, she might still be able to make a difference.

However, the entire secretive nature of the program was worrying for her - her brother would think she was gone, and what would her father think? Would he even know, out there in the breach, holding the line against the Cruxi? He did say that to "outside the military" - does this mean that her father would know she was alive? Or perhaps he had something to do with this?

Knowing that simply mulling over these things would do no good, she simply paid attention to the present, awaiting the doctor's answer to the question on their mortality rates and their expendability.
With all of the firepower here, they could potentially hold an entire sector comfortably for, say, a year.

That was Rear-Admiral Airick Skye's strategic - and currently, his only calm - portion of his mind thinking. He walked along a corridor headed towards a port - they said that his new ship would be there for some new command.

Taken in the middle of the night from his own flagship. While he admitted that the captain had relaxed security in order to divert more energy and effort to fighting the alien threats, it led to an uncomfortable situation in which Spartans - bloody Spartans snuck into the Admiral's own quarters and dragged him out without anyone noticing.

They controlled a star system that was officially dead and devoid of life.
They had command of the Yamaguchi, the ship whose disappearance caused panic and a severe morale loss within the navy
They had command of the biggest concentration of elite units he had seen ever since the first attempted counterattacks against the Cruxi forces.
And last but not least, they had the resources -and authority- to kidnap a Rear-Admiral.

Putting all of that together, the kidnapped rear-admiral knew one thing: he was in way over his head.

"So, is this what it has all come to?" The Admiral said in a low, borderline dangerous tone to his escort - a fellow named Boris - even as he stopped to look at a video monitor on a security station that showed the new framework pilots - including Kaila. Dammit, he had promised! He promised Captain Kenneth all those years ago that he would take care of her, that she and her brother would be safe instead of being sent to disappear in the rapidly deteriorating and overflown orphanage system! He had promised - and now here she was, kidnapped and brought in order to be - what? A wind up super pilot sent right onto the frontlines!? Was this what the Captain would have wanted for his daughter!?

"Have we, the conventional military, proven so incompetent in your eyes that you see no alternative but to resort to using children and cloak and dagger techniques?"
Hai. Still here.
Name: Isabel "Ocelot" Kanimi
Age: 24
Appearance:

Race: Human

Personality: A pretty friendly woman who just seems like another colonial farmer who wanted to see the world, Isabel "Ocelot" Kanimi - she insists on being called "Ocelot" - is also someone with a determination and stubbornness of steel - once she sets her mind on something, she will refuse to change her mind. She will hang back, joke and laugh, and she will also even make smart remarks during combat in the heat of battle. Despite her laid back behaviour, however, she is still accustomed to the rigours of battle and will not hesitate or pause at the thought of brutally murdering someone who was trying to kill her at the same time. She does justify this coldness as "they would have done the same to me. I'm not losing any sleep.".

One thing she cannot stand, however, are slavers - criminal gangs and paramilitary groups who make profits out of abducting people of all races to become slaves or prostitutes in the criminal underworlds of the galaxy. More than likely related to the fact that she herself was nearly a victim of slavers in her past. If she sees a slaver, she will immediately attempt to kill him/her and if she sees a slave she will stick her own neck out in order to rescue them.

Outside of combat, she enjoys an ancient human "video game" from over two thousand years ago known as "Metal Gear Solid". It is believed she chose her nickname from that game.

Class type: Fire Support, Urban Combat specialist

Powers:

Counterspelling: Isabel is capable of interrupting a spell in the progress of being cast. If it is a spell that has already been cast, she can weaken the effect of the spell but she cannot mitigate it completely.

Enhanced reflexes: Through channelling her inner mana and using it as an energy source inside her body instead of as an output energy, she is able to enhance her own reflexes with magic.

Mental Barricade: By forming a disciplined mental awareness in her mind, Isabel protects her mind against suggestive and controlling magics or other techniques, making her immune to hypnotism, mind control, subtle mind control, indoctrination, etc.

Alright, I see. What roles are filled - and more importantly, what roles are in desperate need of filling? I count at least two snipers, so I assume the long range is taken care of.
Hmm... I'm interested, but I have a few questions.

    1) What (if any) are the limitations on powers here? Are there specific types of power holders?
    2) Are cybernetics and augmentations a thing?

    and last but not least...

    3) Are Artificial Intelligences in existence in this universe?
