AppearanceDespite Jason wanting to bury himself into a hole every time someone spares a glance at his direction, he’s a hard person to miss. Even with his tall height of 6’2”, his arms and legs are a bit unproportionately long, giving him a lanky appearance. His short hair is usually tousled all over the place, sticking up in the air in a very Tenth-Doctor-ish way. His clear blue eyes are usually darting around everywhere, giving him a slightly restless vibe when he’s around people.

He’s a whiz when it comes to technology, able to figure out it’s inner workings at a frightening rate, but he focuses on the computer and programming. He finds great satisfaction in finding bugs in a program and fixing problems. A fixer, that’s a good way to put it. Jason likes to fix things, fix problems, fix bugs, fix errors...
Unfortunately, people are not so easily fixable.
Emotions, socializing, thoughts… They’re all something that Jason would like to drag into a recycling bin and delete forever. It’s not that he dislikes them, he’s just so confused by them! It’s not like he can plug a human being into an algorithm and work it out, people are a lot more complex and unpredictable. Not being able to predict something, not knowing the outcome, and that’s what makes Jason so anxious around people. They’re beyond his control.
Therefore, he’s usually not seen in social situations that involve more than three people. Having little to none in terms of social skills, Jason has a tendency to either stutter, or blab on in a conversation, something he hates doing. As a solution, he usually keeps his mouth shut and does the occasional smile and nod. He probably would be a talkative person, but he lacks the ability to translate his thoughts into words in a conversation setting. Give him a paper to write, email him, text him, that’s fine, he has more time to consider his words carefully and is capable of communicating.
If it wasn’t obvious, Jason is extremely shy, and is often seen alone, unable to merge with the crowd. But he really does try to interact. His gestures are awkward, but they’re something endearing. For example, if you’re crying in a corner, Jason wouldn’t be the one trying to console you, he’d be the one sitting at your side for the entire night, with maybe an occasional awkward pat on the back. He wouldn’t say anything, but simply will be there for you, listening if you want to talk. Or if you lose your wallet, there might be a new one in front of your door without a note or anything. Simple gestures to let you know he’s there. Nothing more, nothing less.
Despite his inability to work with people, he does surprisingly well as a teacher. The reasoning behind that would be that he’s working with something he can solve. He knows computers inside and out, and after spending so much time with them, he can explain it with words, without difficulty. If a student is having a problem, he can pick the answer off of the top of his head. All in all, it’s a mindset. Jason knows he can handle teaching the students clearly, so he’s confident. All of the mistakes the students make, are the ones that Jason is prepared for.
