You'd have to change your semblance to incorporate it, but it could work. Flight without using a semblance would be a little much, though.
I could tell a little bit. But yeah, do that definitely. There's a person on youtube who condensed each season into singular episodes, which I highly recommend cause the first season episodes were really really stupidly short. (Like, 4-7 minutes an episode, including opening and ending themes)
Looks good, except I'd say lose the wings, or at least the flight capabilities given by them. Other than that consider yourself accepted.
Loki: Character looks good, accepted.
Silver: I'm afraid I don't have any decent semblance ideas. It is possible he doesn't know it, I mean, look at Jean. The fact that he got accepted into Beacon makes that seem unlikely, though. (I wouldn't be opposed to it if you can find some way to incorporate it into backstory.)
Merman: Character looks pretty good, except the weapon. As far as lore goes weapons use Dust-based ammunition, and even if solar-powered weaponry was a relatively new discovery it probably wouldn't be in the hands of a kid, child of a genius inventor or not. So I'd say change the weapon a bit and you're good to go.

Tearstone; That makes sense. Character looks good, then.
Xander: Characters in the RWBYverse have names relating to or evoking a color (which they're usually themed after) due to historical lore. They range pretty dramatically, with some characters simply having another languages word for a color as their name, some having names that just sound like a color (Blake=Black) and some referencing objects that are a color (Such as Nora, who's name references a pink flower).
Tearstone: She looks good to me. The one thing I want to say is for her Semblance, I'm assuming that keeping an illusion in existence drains aura, and the more illusions she has the faster her aura is drained? Otherwise I could see it getting a little bit crazy. And, more info for the backstory isn't necessary to me, but I do enjoy hearing such things so feel free to PM me said details if you want to.
