Cheshire upon reading CS
I was compelled to post this o.o
I find it makes the story unique. But to each their own :D That's the glory of having your own opinion.
Well, the author's reasoning is that sex and rape, however brutal, was a very big part of that time period. Not referencing it is essentially saying it doesn't exist. I think Martin found an excellent way to make the books both fantasy and realistic at the same time.
I just finished the third book today. Haven't watched the show yet. Absolutely fanTAStic series

Sektor was poised and tensed, ready for a fight. A hundred shots wasn't terrible, but by no means could he be generous with his shots. Ruusaan had already taken care of one of the ships, leaving three more left.
He jerked the joystick to one side, letting the turret lurch to one side before clicking on the trigger sharply, sending a volley of three bolts from the gun. Two of them grazed the hull of the ship, the third missing barely as the lightweight aircraft whizzed past.
Turning on his comlink, he warned Ruusaan, "Aim for the cockpit! It's bulging quite obviously, should be able to kill the pilot." Without waiting for a response, Sektor fired another volley, managing to pierce the cockpit with a bolt, smiling behind his helm as the glass shattered, setting the whole console alight and killing the pilot.
"Two more left!" He called, priming his lasers once more. "Smuggler! How are things looking?" He demanded, wanting to know just how much power they had to disperse to land safely without becoming space junk.

Sektor's goals are quite similar to Ruusaan's XD He's a hunter who wishes to further his reputation. His philosophy is somewhat like a Mandalorian. And he has a code of honor, he just doesn't follow their philosophy to the letter XD Simple backstory. I think we could open up for new characters to join if necessary. I see this taking a Knights of the Old Republic spin. 7-8 people in a crew XD
