Description: Like all members of his species, Kabal's appearance is regarded as being a total mystery; with no official record in any database describing the Ubese's physical characteristics underneath their trademark masks and layered clothing.
Like all Ubese, Kabal's physique can be seen as lithe and graceful, to the point of assumed frailty. Though well-built in his own right, the practical nonexistence of body fat coupled with his rather short stature of 5'5" gives Kabal the impression of weakness and feebleness, though opponents find out usually too late that this is not the case.
Outfitted for protection, concealment, and maneuverability, Kabal's armor is very traditional to that of the baseline Ubese. An Ogygian Cloak of light brown forms the foundation of his outfit, emboldened by protective impact armor for his neck and chest, multiple bandoleers wrapped around his shoulder securing ammo and storage pouches, spikes embedded into rough protective gloves, a chest-mounded comlink, and a Ubese clan belt-clasp to identify his heritage. Beneath this loose-fitting outfit are lightly armored leather pants and traditional Ubese boots, designed to last an ample amount of time in harsh conditions.
Perhaps the most notable part of Kabal's gear, however, is his distinctive helmet. Designed to function both as a breath filter and armored equipment, Kabal's helmet allows him to comfortably breathe in Type I atmospheres while amplifying his voice to an audible degree. His helmet also comes equipped with a targeting laser, vision-plus scanner, audio pickup, broadband antenna, speech scrambler, and protective shielding to nullify the effects of stun grenades.
Personality: Stoic, unyielding, aggressive, and a man of few words; Kabal is regarded as being a complete enigma, with no apparent goal or desire motivating his violent actions. Quiet and secretive to a front, Kabal rarely speaks, and even then is brusque and to-the-point in his diction. He prefers to let his actions speak for him, with a simple head-nod or shoulder-shrug communicating more than words ever could for him. His guarded nature is only heightened by his race's xenophobic nature, which, coupled with his obscurity, make him seem all the more untrustworthy.
The Ubese have a dark and violent history, which is well-seen within Kabal. Raised as a survivor and warrior, he possesses strong warrior instincts, an inhuman level of determination and resilience, and a frightening capability for brutality that belies his quiet demeanor. He seems to come alive in the midst of combat, becoming passionate, vital, and fervent, feeding off adrenaline like a drug. He is viciously savage in combat, never offering mercy or forgiveness; not unopposed to utilizing torture and intimidation to reach his goals. To many, Kabal is little more than an animal wearing a tranquil mask, hiding his brutality until the next fight.
However, Kabal is not without his own set of positive traits as well. Firstly, he has a deep fascination for all manners of technology, ranging from the rudimentary to the theoretical. He constantly is on the search for new, interesting pieces of technology to hoard, and frequents such trinkets on his person. Kabal also has a soft spot for droids, finding them far easier to communicate with than other organics.
Secondly, Kabal possesses a certain sense of honor about him as well, stemming from his warrior heritage. Though generally brutal and merciless, Kabal is never guided by sadism or cruelty, but instead by determination. He believes in offering his opponents a fighting chance, despises stealth and manipulation, and never draws out an opponent's death unless it is necessary to accomplish his goals. Likewise, his one most serious rule is to never harm children. Kabal controls his aggressiveness within the presence of children, and will not commit atrocities while they are around. In fact, he will even demonstrate a somewhat friendlier side in dealing with them, becoming more verbally approachable than if he were dealing with other creatures.
Lastly, though all evidence may point to the contrary, Kabal is neither traitorous nor unfaithful. He honors all agreements and bargains, disdains of backstabbing, and has the capacity to be an incredibly loyal and devoted ally, should one earn his trust and respect (typically through combat.)
Flaw - Xenophobia: Like many Ubese, Kabal is inherently distrustful of other races, stemming from a broad history of mistreatment and isolation. He typically views other races as inferior, often using stereotypes or preconceived biases to paint the galaxy's inhabitants. Though he is more than capable of dealing (relatively) civilly with other aliens, he nonetheless demonstrates thinly-veiled disgust in his body language and manner of speaking. As a result of his xenophobia, Kabal has an intensely difficult time adapting to different social situations or cultures, often sticking out like a sore thumb as he holds on tightly to his traditionalist beliefs.
Flaw - Aggressiveness & Brutality: Though stoic and calm in demeanor and conduct, Kabal is nevertheless a brutal warrior, capable of inhumane acts of violence. Not one for diplomacy, Kabal is incredibly quick to incite violence, often using intimidation or even torture as methods when dealing with those who are uncooperative. In combat, he utilizes his savagery as a psychological tactic, often dealing with foes gruesomely as a way to deter other opponents from attacking. Even outside of combat, Kabal is quick to take offense and fearless in the face of danger, willing and able to take on enemies larger than him directly.
Flaw - Paranoia: A long history of self-sufficiency and violence has made Kabal incredibly paranoid and mistrusting. He is hypersensitive, easily slighted, and prone towards scanning his environment in search of clues to confirm preconceived biases or conspiracies. He rarely opens up to others and believes that any one of his "allies" could try and backstab him, distancing himself as a defense mechanism. This can make him incredibly difficult to deal with both on a professional and personal level.
Flaw - Reliance on Helmet: Though not as personally inflicted as the "True" Ubese, Kabal's heritage on Ubertica has nonetheless conditioned his lungs and vocal cords to thrive on low-oxygen environments. As a result, any other type of atmosphere is taxing on his sensitive lungs and hushes his voice to a harsh whisper. As such, he must almost always keep his helmet on to filter the air and amplify his voice. Should he be without his helmet for an extended period of time, Kabal appears to suffer effects similar to the Human affliction of asthma, which can extend to far more severe symptoms should he continue without a breath filter.
Physical Fitness: Though short and lithe in physique like many of his species, Kabal is a terror in battle. Blatantly ruthless and overwhelmingly fast, Kabal possesses great strength and reflexes that negate his stature, allowing him to overpower beings much larger than he is. Incredibly durable and resilient, Kabal is unmoved by pain or physical discomfort and has a very strong will that allows him to shake off or ignore exhaustion or wounds. He is also a skilled gymnast, and can perform surprising acrobatic feats should the need call for it.
Combative Skill: An experienced warrior and survivor, Kabal is a pragmatic and efficient hand-to-hand combat, capable of taking on multiple opponents single-handedly using his skill and speed. He is highly-trained in the use of melee weapons, showing a preference for the Force Pike or quarterstaff in battle, allowing him to control the battlefield. He is capable of quickly improvising weaponry, and his technological aptitude lets him modify or recondition most weapons to suit his need. Kabal is also adept in the use of blasters and slugthrowers, though seems to prefer lighter, more accurate blasters as opposed to larger, clunkier ones. Lastly, Kabal seems to have a personal fondness for flamethrowers and explosives, rather infamous for his use of thermal detonators either when fulfilling contacts or for intimidating others into submission.
Intelligence & Mechanical Aptitude: Aside from his great physical skill, Kabal also possesses a tactical, resourceful mind that aides him both in and out of combat. He is highly observant and a quick-learner, capable of grasping onto most concepts with relative ease and efficiency. He can think clearly in the most heated of scenarios and has a vast array of knowledge when it comes to most manners of combat and warfare, ranging from battle tactics to weapon specifications. Likewise, he is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with almost all manners of technology, especially droids. He is surprisingly intelligent in most mechanical matters and is often willing to help -- if help means pushing the other person aside to finish the job himself.
BackstoryKabal speaks almost nothing of his past, finding such memories to be unnecessary retellings not worth his time or effort. He was born on the planet of Ubertica, one of the last hospitable worlds of the Ubese. He was born into the Forged Clan, which specialized in the finding and hoarding of technologies, revering advanced tech to the point of idolatry. As he grew older, Kabal was taught the various skills he would need to survive in the Forged by his father, then clan-leader of the Forged. Kabal would prove himself the longer he served, soon becoming a skilled warrior and mechanist within the clan. Given the clan-name of
Shalashaska for his continued service, Kabal joined the higher-castes of the clan, considered as almost a second-in-command to his father. It was around this time where Kabal would marry a woman from within his clan named
Lavez, who attracted Kabal with her own skill and intelligence. But this success was not to last.
A vengeful "True" Ubese known as Savax began an attempted invasion upon the planet in an attempt to genocide the inferior "yrak pootczk" from the galaxy. Much of the planet's surface was ravaged, and many of the Ubese were killed, including Kabal's wife and father. He himself just barely clung to life, severely wounded but kept from the brink of death by a recently-repaired medical droid near the encampment.
The Empire had interfered with Savax's invasion before he could complete his dream of destruction, and many of the surviving Ubese were taken off-planet. Kabal ended up landing in Coruscant, left a bitter shell of his former self. Full of rage and anger even at his own people, Kabal turned to mercenary work as a way to express this anger.
As time passed, Kabal's skill and reputation grew, eventually landing the attention of the Hutt Cartel, who used him as a personal bounty hunter on their payroll. Kabal soon became infamous both on Tatooine and even beyond for his ability and brutality, serving as a useful asset for the Hutts. But the Empire had other plans.
Wishing to quell the growing power of the Hutt Cartel in order to avoid another war the Empire devised a plan to "remove" Kabal, framing the death of an Imperial officer on him and ordering his arrest. Though Kabal proved an elusive and dangerous foe he was eventually captured, sent to a labor camp where he could no longer serve as a weapon for the Hutts...

(Deceased)- Fluent in Ubeninal, Ubese, Huttese, Binary, and Basic, Kabal seems to prefer speaking his native language, while his Basic is very brusque and to-the-point, often lacking in metaphors or other devices.
- Though still capable of feeling lust and attraction, Kabal's past experiences have left him mostly unresponsive to sexual advances, bordering on asexuality.
- Kabal, like many Ubese, disdains of the Jedi Order and the Force, though did not act on such disdain during the Great Jedi Purge. It is believed this disdain stems from the Jedi's relative inaction during the many struggles of the Ubese.
- Kabal has never removed his helmet in the presence of non-Ubese, making his appearance almost a complete mystery.
