Still alive, kind of. The wifi hasn't been great to where I wanted it. Either this laptop is connecting and I make my posts tomorrow, or I'm going to the library to make some RP posts.

Again, sorry if I've been running slow...a whole other, months long RP was just shut down, nd that was kind of depressing.

Piercing the darkness of the room, a white light off a flat screen, prompted no one in particular…

With the fresh rain, the filthy downtown area of Patina City took on a certain kind of reek. Like a wet mutt, mixed with rotted garbage, and there might have been a hint of soured booze in there. Rats skittered to hide under cardboard boxes, the poor ducked under makeshift homes, little more than shacks made of that aforementioned rotted garbage, wood…

From a rather building with many interesting sound emitted from it, a woman straddled the window sill with one hand steadying to steady herself, watching the last of the thunder storm fleeing off into the distant as she raised her bottle of alcohol to her lips…

A figure darted out from a shadow, across the street with their trailing cloaks, knocking a well-dressed man into an alleyway right in the middle of his conversation. As the man tried to recover, the cloaked figure drew out a sickle, shining just so under the lamplight barely touching the narrow space. With a well-aimed slash down, the well-dressed man’s female companion came running towards them, taking one look and let out a horrified scream.

The old fashioned train compartment was neat, going with the natural wooden arrangements and with overhead shelves for carry-on baggage. The man in his grey suit, napping, who has yet to speak to (the player) …seemed to right themselves after a tick, pulling the hat from their face to their head in one fluid movement. He wore an eye patch.

Yawning into the back of his hand, adjusting his askew eye patch as he sat back for a moment, before glancing at (the player) in consideration, “Ay…you’re nah frum around here, are ya? Dr McGable,” A hand held out, a lazy smirk on his face, “An’ what brings ya to the fair city of Patina?”

1) Introduce yourself.
2) Explain your reason for returning to Patina City.
3) Ask about...
-The train?
-Patina City?
-Dr McGable?

@axleonexI'm down to have Orin clown with Alice, and by clown I mean if she skips class he'll put her to work in the library.
Okay, no, seriously. We start tomorrow/today.
The magic mirror wrapped the chain around the book, nodding at Li’s succinct summation of the book as he reached to pull a desk drawer open, before carefully sticking the book in. Some things were better left relatively untouched. Briefly, Orin wondered if the evil queen may have known of a sniffer or two, kept them recorded in some leather bound notebook somewhere. Possible, but it had been too long.

Giving the dutiful student a curt nod, “Come again, with as many members of the disciplinary committee, the nice strict rule keeping sort…so long as you have the bring the right permits for the right books.” With that, there was a polite wave, before a hand was reached over to check his cloth and tin of polish, gaze just flickering up to the other students leaving.

There was a vague note kept in the back of his mind, that they had taken the book with them…he hadn’t lied, the mirror couldn’t. If understanding of theory had been raised to even a near prodigious level…words, symbols, reagents…they were not entirely necessary anymore. Tapping the reflection twice with the barest hint of magic, and leaning on an arm, he paused to consider who in the past...peering down at the blurry reflection upon the desk,

"Mirror mirror, may I see...?"

The reflection started to become much less distorted, but the person on the other side...they just about caught sight of him before he quickly raked his nails over it, the image distorted before disappearing altogether, and all that was left as the scratched surface of this wooden desk. Bringing a hand up, examining it close to his eyes, some of the brownish wax had gotten under his nails. Reaching over to the polishing cloth, he got to work cleaning it up, and then...to polishing the scratches out.

"I don't know, Bro. I think that would hurt her more than it would help. Besides...I thought you said that this wasn't the time for...Sky-Diving"

“UGH!” The great Papyrus…admittedly, he walked straight into that one. Running a mitten down his skull…

"You're smiling again, Pap,"

He was, he could feel the smile on his face, “I AM, AND I HATE IT. NOW IS NOT THE TIME!” Well, they didn’t plan on risking the fall, though Frisk had impressively fallen twice from dangerous heights with nary a scratch…not all humans were like his very great and cool best friend.

Seeing his brother attentive in this, for one, Papyrus’ eyes bulged out of their sockets at a certain mention, “NYEH?! THIS WHOLE TIME, THE KING WANTED TO MAKE ME, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, CAPTAIN OF THE ROYAL GUARD? I…I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY…” As excited as he had gotten, that quickly faded after a moment of consideration. The skeleton’s eyes returned into his skull, and a bit of sweat formed, ”I KNOW YOU MUST BE EXCITED BY THE IDEA OF BRINGING BACK THE ROYAL GUARD WITH PAPYRUS AS THE CAPTAIN, BUT…PLEASE DO NOT BE DISAPPOINTED, I…AT THE MOMENT, I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, MUST DECLINE!”

Coming up to the boss monster, a sympathetic sort of look if not tinged with a bit of guilt on his face, “I HAVE A DUTY TO MY BEST FRIEND, THE HUMAN-MONSTER AMBASSADOR, FRISK! FIRST AND FOREMOST! BESIDES, SUCH A GRAND DECISION, SURELY YOU SHOULD CONSULT UNDYNE BEFORE DECIDING ON ME…?” It had been hard, but Papyrus thought he let the King down rather easily.

Coming over to Sans, he reached his free arm to set it on the shorter skeleton’s shoulder, big smile on his skull, “BESIDES, SOMEONE HAS TO MAKE SURE MY BROTHER ISN’T SLACKING ON THIS TASK AS WELL! NYEH HEH HEH!”
Blinking slowly after a moment, the golden mirror’s eyes went over to Li, as if to ask the student if he was hearing the same thing he was. Breath out through his nose, though he hadn’t moved from behind the desk, “Impress your teacher? As I think about it, yes, I foresee a curse working to impress your teacher. Using a curse spell in class, which are currently listed under restricted, that is an impressive display of audacity…or stupidity.”

Nodding to himself, the man reached over to the unpolished surface, picking up the chains off table. They rattled in his hands as he turned his full attention to Li, holding his other hand out expectantly, “How was ‘Sniffers’? Unpleasant and drawn out, I assume?”
Flipping the cover of the last book shut, running a finger down the spine in satisfaction, the magic mirror held this book in his hand a moment and really took a moment to feel the weight of it. A new book, the students would find this one both fascinating and entertaining. Turning to lightly push some magic into the polished surface of the table, Orin peered into the opened space before bringing the book through the opened space and carefully setting it onto the right shelf. As Li returned from the study room with the book in hand, more students came over from the entrance…

Letting the mirror space close up on it's own, and listening patiently to the trio’s complaint, Orin nodded every other beat, though he already knew what they had come back to the library about. Waiting for the last words spoken, before he himself spoke, “You three are looking exceptionally tricky today…though ‘fricken’ was not in my phrase at the time, yes, I did say that the book was special. Without having read and understood the theory, a strong curse cannot be made to last, and a new curse cannot be developed. It also takes a special kind of person to finish this all in two sitting, have you done just that?”
@axleonexThat'd be fine, hopes she likes honest people.
@axleonexI don't really have any character plans in the way of Alice. The idea was that Orin was the looking glass that brought Alice to the other Wonderland, because the guy is basically a number of magical mirrors of fairytale. If you want me to change a thing, I can do that too.
Just popping in to say I'm down for getting involved again.
