That reminds me, I need a nickname for my critters as well.

The problem is that there really isn't any dignified way to use "bubble" in a name...

Lol you haven't used them all up, you've at least 85% left to distribute wisely.
Personally, I think the initial evolution needs the most effort as you have to build a complex creature. It takes much less effort and time to gives bird wings than it does to take a unicellular organism and make it into a bird. Know what I mean?

Well, I know that, but I've used up all the influence I can use at the moment, so...

I agree, but I'd just like to note that one factor for that is that birds reproduce sexually while unicellular organisms reproduce asexually, and thus don't vary quite as much genetically.
According to the initial post in the OOC, the amount of influence in a taxon is proportional to the speed it takes for the desired biological change to happen. And once you put influence into something, you can't remove it until that taxon is extinct (and even then it only gradually comes back).

So, if you need your taxon to evolve quickly, then invest a large percentage of your influence into it. But if you'd prefer slower evolution, and if you want to keep some influence on hand in case of an emergency or opportunity, then you should save it.

Wish I'd thought about this before using all my points up...

Quick on the mark with photosynthesis considering it's taken other players a bit more detail to start developing, but eh, it's fine. Stromatolites are already bubbling as they exhale/photosynthesize, BTW, but it doesn't change anything, so still good.

I see. Yeah, I thought I might have been going too fast. I'll try to slow down in my next post, then. Sorry.
Ugh, if any of the stuff I said in my last post is physically unfeasible or implausible, feel free to correct me. Among other things, I have a feeling I'm completely inaccurate on the stuff with aggregations and such.
The world was silent. Dead silent.

But dead silence, the Composer felt, was unfit for such a lively world.

On a cliff-side, a wave crashed rhythmically. This, the Composer realized, was the best it could get on such a quiet world. But that wasn't enough. Not nearly enough.

An incorporeal entity, the Composer was practically a newborn. It knew very little, and only knew two things for sure: its powers and its desire. It knew it could affect, in some way, the many microbes hiding beneath the water. And it knew what it wanted: aural stimulation of some kind. Deep in its mind, it could imagine great melodies, perhaps even symphonies, arising from the sea.

It knew this was outlandish at best, however, and focused on simply forcing an underwater colony of microbes into making some noise, any noise at all, to supplement the crash of the waves. It focused all its power on this, and time passed.

The Composer, still practically a newborn, didn't have a clue what was happening biologically yet. All it could tell was that, after a certain length of time, a new instrument suddenly appeared: the sound of faint bubbling.

Am I allowed to use 15% influence immediately, or should I wait until my second post to do so? Sorry for taking so long to post.

Title: The Composer
Intent: To make a concordant ambience out of all the sounds made by the different life forms within The Composer's "area". The Composer seeks to force the disjointed sounds of all organisms under its control into making a more rhythmic, harmonious sound (though it doesn't actually care if said organisms are actually harmonious, just whether or not they sound harmonious). Though The Composer treats its supposed 'instruments' with care, it views anything discordant as a blight, and will attempt to get rid of the perceived pest.
