I would be, but I'd rather we stay away from D&D's preset races. A little creativity is good, after all.

HazmatMedic said they would be removing the race limits that the original GM posted.
I'm still interested. I'd be up for it if you threw something together.
I've updated my sheet. Assuming it's acceptable, I just need to create some statted characters.
Yes, the "formal secondary education" is restricted to wealthy families who can pay for their children's education.

I'm sorry it's not finished. I haven't been focused on it, as I noticed everyone else was missing or similarly slow. I'm still very interested in this roleplay, and I hope it takes off.
Polis Name: Skepsis
Demonym: Skepsiseans
Location: The small peninsula south of Athens (modern Vouliagmeni)
Government: Elective oligarchy of ten philosophers headed by a sole philosopher-king. The oligarchy can collectively veto the king's legislature and decisions with a vote of 60% or more in favor of the veto. The oligarchs are voted in by the people through an alternative voting system after a number of debates and speeches. These elections are often for one position at a time, as multiple seats being open in the oligarchy at once is rare. The requirements for candidacy are thus: be a citizen of Skepsis for at least four years; have at least two years of formal secondary education; pass the written examination; and win two out of three matches against other potential candidates in a game of Kopis.

History: Skepsis was founded by a society of like-minded individuals who lived in pursuit of philosophy and knowledge of the heavens. They turned the few remains of an ancient structure into a private retreat, and soon turned the retreat into a second home. They grew crops and expanded what was now a village. The progression was natural, as they moved from their home city to live permanently among their friends. Their society grew as they made trips to the nearest city for trade, and eventually, after decades, the village became a self-sustaining town of its own, and decades more passed as it turned into a city.

Society: Skepsis is a place of learning and thought, where philosophy dominates most aspects of life. While formal education is still very limited, the populace of Skepsis is more learned and intelligent in general than many other city-states. Commoners and masters alike seek to improve their craft, for renown or simply better living. Discussion and debate are common, and not simply limited to talk of lifestyle and home troubles. Skepsis is a city where the low-class bow their heads and work for their next meal or the replacement of cutlery, and where the high-class do not lounge in excess without the occasional discussion of meaning and matters of celestial nature. Skepsiseans seek the improvement of not only their lives, but the lives of humanity as a whole.

Supporting Gods: Athena, Hephaestus, Hermes
Religion: Skepsiseans perform their prayer and worship of the city's primary three deities in three-walled temples throughout the city. The specifics of each individual's worship vary, but tributes are often offered in the form of symbolic baubles and foodstuffs. Regarding prayer, the gods are more often called upon to witness events than they are called upon to act in said events.

Military:
-1000 Soldiers (500 at Troy)
-15 Ships (5 at Troy).
In his final hours, Kassner wondered where the dead went after dying again.

The ancient Ghazele believed the souls to be recycled, the dead being born again. But that couldn't work: the population was growing, and those extra souls had to come from somewhere. Did they split each time, each person born being half the human their ancestors were? Were the lost souls crawling from the Stygian Marsh to meet the demands of Asphodel? Did the dead have souls anymore?

"I love you, daddy."

"Love you, too, Sally. Talk to you... later."

Bill wasn't a particularly religious man. Sometimes he thanked the Fates under his breath, when flying attack runs. He knew some religious folk, though, and the astronaut found the things they said to be interesting. Some preached the lessons to be learned from the dead gods of the mountain kingdom. Others begged the sun or the void for forgiveness. And some more put their lives in the hands of angels. Kassner thought maybe that's what he was waiting for: angels, to save him or take him away.

"Gödel, this is Control speaking. The Sañirans should be in orbit around Akheron now. They were just planning an intercept when we last spoke. How you doin'?"

The communications officer paid less and less attention to radio procedure as the hours ticked by. The occasional 'over', and of course the obligatory hailing of the Gödel, but little else. Few rogers, fewer copy thats. Bill guessed formalities had little worth to a doomed man.

"How long?"

"Not long."

"Well, if they take much longer, I'm gonna find out what Akheron looks like from the surface. Don't fancy dying the slow way much."

"Just sit tight, Bill. We're gonna get you back home."

No, he thought, the Sañirans are, and I don't think 'home' is on their list of priorities. The police state had eyes and ears everywhere, and a fondness for old-fashioned information gathering, if common opinion was to be believed. Don't turn your back on a Sañiran, they would say. You'll end up dead, if you're lucky, and in a dungeon if you're not. Kassner believed the cold war had something to do with the perpetuation of that belief. Though the us-versus-them mentality might save us today, what of tomorrow?

"Control?"

"Just a moment, Kassner. The astronaut went to rub the tiredness from his eyes, but his glove met the glass instead. He sighed. "All right, Gödel, good news. Look out your viewport."

He couldn't see it at first, dark as the horizon was. It took some focusing on the darkness before he could see for certain what it was.

Angels. Come to him on fiery wings.

But did they come to return him home, or to drag him to a deeper layer of hell?
I should have my city-state up by Sunday evening.
I plan on playing desert dwelling humans, but I haven't nailed anything else down yet.
Throwing up an OOC thread sooner rather than later would be better. Not everyone who posts in the interest check is guaranteed to stick around, and a lot of people join RPs after the OOC has been put up, even if they didn't see or ignored the interest check. I'd say give it a couple hours, and throw one up.
