There was no part of Prim that actually wanted to go back inside, even though it was possible that someone would see her and Gale kissing and not behaving like good tributes. The Penthouse sometimes felt so small and depressing that it was hard to breathe, and although they were still sealed in at the Ball, at least they were outside. The air wasn't as clean in the Capitol, and Prim missed her home, and the way the trees and flowers scented the air this time of year. She wondered how her mother was doing, if anyone was going to take care of her now that everyone she relied on was away. She thought of Gale's mother too, and his siblings and she hoped that they were eating enough, and not too worried yet. If Peeta's plan didn't work, if the Games ended with a new winner, Prim hoped that it was Gale; he deserved to go home.

It was difficult to be happy for too long while in the Capitol. Every time Prim found comfort in something, she was quickly reminded that it would be over soon. In only a few days time, she would find herself in the arena, thrown to the wolves and then the Ball wouldn't matter—the pretty clothes, the luxurious environment, the people she had met—none of it would truly mean anything and Prim found herself wishing that she could run away. Still, she couldn't help but think that none of this would be happening if she had just taken her place when she supposed to the year before.

When Gale agreed that it was time to leave, Prim was ready to get up on her own, but Gale looped his jacket around her and pulled her up instead. She couldn't hold back the small giggle that escaped her lips because that truly was a smooth move. Gale was unbelievably sweet and Prim felt very lucky to be with him. She took hold of his arm and went back inside with him. The Ball was still crowded, and Prim hadn't expected any less, although she didn't see Katniss or Haymitch anywhere, but she did catch a glimpse of Peeta looking very cozy with a pink-haired girl. She smiled, happy that he seemed to be doing okay after the break up between him and Katniss; Prim had been worried about him.

“You're not so bad yourself,” she said, although she did think that Gale had been a fantastic date and when she wasn't worrying about the future, she'd had a wonderful time with him. She smiled when he kissed her cheek and then the elevators doors finally parted. Prim took Gale's hand and pulled him inside, and since they were completely alone now, she kissed him the way she had wanted to in the garden. “Thank you for tonight,” she said once she pulled away, her cheeks a bit pink from being so bold. "You made everything...perfect."
Now that the ball had come, and was close to going, Prim knew that the time she would have alone with Gale would be limited. There weren't many days of training left, and they were coming up on having to impress the Gamemakers, and then all of Panem on interview night. Prim had never spoken in front of a crowd before, or rather, not one as big as Caesar Flickerman's audience, and she was a bit nervous about it. Interview night also brought the Games that much closer and although Prim knew that she had made a lot of progress and finally felt better about defending herself, what would happen in the arena was uncertain. She had people to protect, and she had to help hold the alliance together while keeping it a secret from Katniss for seven days all while people tried to murder her. It was a lot of pressure, and not something that Prim knew how to prepare for.

Another fear that was starting to cause her a great deal of anxiety was the possibility of being separated from Gale, Katniss and Haymitch once the Games began. While Prim knew that she was capable of taking care of herself, she knew that people always survived longer in groups. If she were to lose Gale, or her sister at the start of the Games, or any other point, the blonde girl doubted that she would be able to think of anything else. Distractions such as that, as Haymitch would have pointed out, could easily cost a tribute their life. Prim didn't want to go out that way, she wanted to see Peeta's plan through to the end and escape with those she loved and cared for.

“I don't either,” Prim agreed. Once they were in the arena, there would be cameras on them at all times and she knew that the Capitol would want to see how the four of them were faring in the arena, especially she and Gale when they both meant so much to Katniss. While there was still time, Prim wanted to spend time with Gale, and make memories that she could hang onto when things got rough. She smiled softly as Gale traced a lazy pattern against her skin and she reached up to wrap her arms around his neck, keeping them close for the time being. “No one's stopping you,” she said, agreeing again. She was happy with Gale and she wanted the moment to last for as long as it possibly could. Prim pressed another kiss to his lips as her fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck.

“We should go soon, though,” she mentioned, “upstairs...” Mostly because the garden wasn't an ideal place to be so open about their relationship and anyone could have walked by and come across them.
There was a lot of growing that came with the Games, and everything they brought as well, but Prim was still young and there was a large part of her that couldn't picture her life without her family surrounding her. For a very long time, it had been her, Katniss and their mother together and the idea of abandoning them, just leaving to go somewhere else with Gale, didn't feel right. She wanted to be with him, she wanted a life with him, but she didn't see why they needed to leave their home to have all of that and more. Realistically, now wasn't the time to discuss such things, and Prim (unfortunately) knew that they may never need to talk about it, but that didn't stop her from thinking of the future. Their different ideas weren't enough to make the blonde girl think that Gale wasn't right for her.

Any thoughts of what the future could hold were soon gone when Gale wrapped his arms around her. She always felt so safe with him, as if nothing bad could ever happen when he was with her. It was foolish, even a little childish to want to hide from every bad thing in life, but Prim didn't care. When time was fleeting, she just wanted to be with Gale and be as happy as they could be, together, before the Games came to take them away from each other. She really was worried about everything, even if Peeta had a plan and she did have more faith in herself to stay alive. Seven days was asking a lot in such an unpredictable arena.

“Thank you,” she said softly, appreciating the compliment. Prim felt more like herself this time than she had at the parade, and that helped to boost her confidence some. “You look amazing,” she added, reaching up to play with his tie again. The color went well with his eyes and helped to bring out every handsome part of Gale. She gave his tie a playful tug and pulled him down for another kiss, “really good,” she smiled against his lips. This was the most alone they had been in quite a while and Prim wanted to take advantage of that for as long as she could.
Are u her dad, Gale? Shut up.
Yeah, I think Katniss and Prim need to have a talk as well, haha All that can be arranged then and I'm happy to include it. Although Haymitch will probably tell Gale to mind his own damn business.

I'll google it and see what I can find c:
All of that sounds fine with me. We did want to do the morning because Peeta was going to talk to Gale and Prim and maybe we could mention them trying to be friendly with Johanna and Finnick? I could also see them thinking that's suspicious, so who knows. I'm fine with glossing over everything else though and then having the scores come into playing during interview night if they happen to be impressively high or low.

Are there websites that let you make your own timeline? I think that would be pretty useful with something like this.
I think "tonight" is a Friday and "tomorrow" would be Saturday. I thought interview night was at the end of the week because they have another week of training. I thought it would be, "here have another day off from training for interviews and then tomorrow we're going to throw you into the games!" It's really hard to keep track of everything when the site keeps going down, but if you want to skip to something after skype, or I can, that's fine with me. I know Peeta's part was the day before interviews but we also have to fit in that thing where they impress the gamemakers. Unless you want to gloss over that because I don't think it's terribly important, and what really matters is the score. Which we should also talk about. *fingers crossed that the site holds up for this*
Their time at the Ball had only lasted for a few hours, but Haymitch was drained from the experience. Although he hadn't been acting like it, the stress of having to go back into the arena had been getting to him, and the thought of having to survive until the bitter end once more was intimidating. Haymitch didn't want to admit it, and he wouldn't have if anyone asked him, but he was scared. Having to endure the Ball, and act correctly in front of sponsors had been pressure that the older man didn't need. Now that it was over, Haymitch was ready to decompress for the night and take a moment to breathe before training started all over again in the morning.

When the elevator arrived, Haymitch stepped into it with Katniss and leaned back against the glass. He had made the trip up and down the building many times over the years, but this was one of the only times that he had been almost completely alone, and with someone he actually liked. “What else do you think?” Haymitch replied, chuckling as he ran a hand through his hair. He couldn't help the way he felt about Katniss, or that strong-willed women happened to be something he gravitated toward, but he also knew that she lacked any kind of experience. Haymitch didn't want Katniss to think that he only wanted her for one thing, and it was the truth; he really did care about her.

As the elevator came to a stop at the top floor, Haymitch stepped out and into the suite behind Katniss. It was completely empty, even void of the Avoxes, who were more than likely assisting with the ball. “You're smart,” he said, pulling off his jacket and tossing it onto the couch, “take a guess.” Next, he worked the cuff links free from his shirt and rolled the sleeves up, already feeling more like himself. He didn't like feeling trapped in his own clothes, even if the designs that year had been much more flattering than times past. He walked over to the sitting area and sat down on the couch where he'd carelessly thrown his coat, eyes still watching Katniss as he waited for her guess.

Last year, after Katniss had won the games and their family were able to move into the Victor's village, Prim had done her best to hide her enthusiasm for it. Living in the new house was bittersweet and Prim had always felt guilty for enjoying her new bed, or the extra food, or anything that the Capitol had given them. Katniss had sacrificed so much, and there were times when the blonde girl wished that she still lived in the Seam. It seemed so backwards to miss the years of struggle, and those nights when they had gone hungry just because of the guilt that came along with new wealth. That was part of the reason that Prim always invited Gale and his family over for dinners—it was a way to give back. Prim just wished that she could have done something more for Katniss before all of this had happened.

“You've helped me in the kitchen before,” Prim reminded Gale with a small smile. She thought back to one of the first meals that she had cooked on her own, and remembered how Gale had helped her cut up the deer meat. He wasn't as much of a disaster as he thought, even if he did think of himself as a bit clumsy. Prim thought it was sweet that he even thought to help her out, which was more than she could say for some of the other men back home. Most of them worked in the mines and left the housework to their wives. Briefly, she wondered what her life would be like with Gale, and if there was such a thing as a perfect world after everything that was going to happen.

Suddenly, the conversation took on a more serious tone and Prim noticed that Gale was starting to ramble a little. It was unlike him, and Prim wondered if he was nervous about something, or if she had done something wrong. The slight frown that had crossed her expression had soon eased away entirely when Gale spoke again, almost reading her mind. She knew that there was family to think about, and while Prim didn't ever want to leave her mom or Katniss, she did want to have something real and permanent with Gale. “I know what you mean,” she said, reaching for his hand. “It might take a while, but I think it will happen.” Considering what was about to happen within the next two weeks, it was a lofty goal, but also something that Prim was willing to hang onto.

After giving Gale's hand a squeeze, Prim moved scooted closer to him on the bench and moved the plate of desserts out of the way. “I want it to happen,” she clarified, just in case Gale thought otherwise. She loved him, and although she didn't want to say it yet, she hoped that he understood. She leaned in and gave him a kiss, not caring if anyone was around to see them.
I haven't decided yet, but I can definitely make it so we can switch over and then keep it going with something shorter for Prim and Gale in order to keep pace. And yeah, that sounds good for the morning so everyone is back on the same page, literally.

I don't remember, but I thought we said it was the night before interviews? I could be totally wrong about that. Whenever you'd like to do it is cool with me.
Hopefully not. I was thinking that in the next couple of posts we could take Haymitch and Katniss to skype if you still wanted to do that and then post something smallish for Gale and Prim in the garden, and then afterwards we can send them back upstairs and bring back Haymitch and Katniss on here? Just a thought because I have all day on here.

I slept good c: How about you?
