Heh, this outta be funny. I wonder who'll put up the biggest fuss.
Jacque had barely managed to shield himself with water when the grenade had gone off, however the loud noise left him rather disoriented for a few moments. Jacque watched in a somewhat fuzzy state as the caramel skinned man had come out with a grenade and rifle, only to be cut down by the red beam just as he'd started to cause significant damage, then, before he knew it, soldiers began pouring from the cave with renewed vigor. Now Jacque was clear headed, and more importantly, he was pissed, he may not have viewed humans as equals, but he still respected the courage of these men, and he'd be goddamned if he allowed someone who'd helped him die for nothing, "Fuck you AND your pecking order! Compared to you demons I am the fucking sea, a force of nature that will SWALLOW YOU WHOLE!" he roared as he withdrew more water and scooped up the shrapnel from the grenade. Jacque let the shrapnel swirl about a bit before firing again with a water jet, this time aiming for the demon's abdominal region.
Might I suggest that the team be required to participate in mandatory team building exercises and training drills? It might not have the same adrenaline rush as a mission, but its better than sitting around, ja?
Jacque grit his teeth at the sight before him, 'Fuck. FUCK, this wasn't how I wanted it to go.' he thought as he watched the demon gnaw on the bioweapon. Between the downed bioweapon, and the demon currently holding the pregnant woman by the throat, Jacque would have to go about this in a different way entirely. "Well, this is going to suck royally..." he muttered as he picked up some silt from the cave floor, then withdrew some water from his camel pack to add to the liquid limb he already sported, "Get ready." Jacque hissed to Zelos. Jacque chucked the silt in with the water, then imagined an impossibly narrow hole as he pointed the limb at the demon holding the woman, he imagined forcing the added water and silt through that hole as quickly as possible. The result was a highly pressurized stream of water similar to the stream produced by an abrasive water jet. Although it wasn't quite as strong as the water jet, which could produce blasts of up to 60,000 psi and even cut through titanium plates, Jacque's stream still boasted quite a bit of power in its own right. The blast struck the demon in the side, leaving Jacque to hope it actually did damage.
If the issue is about power, might I suggest giving the guy's most powerful ability a prep time while turning it into a bit of a double edged sword? Like say, he could, with enough time to prepare [i.e. a time that would make it highly impractical in single combat] level a small town, but at the same time that move could put him extremely close to death?
Jacque glared down at the man who had stood in his way and snorted, however just before he could get a chance to spit something back, Johnathan spoke up, quickly quelling Jacque's rising anger and replacing it with a tinge of shame for how he'd spoken of everyone in the room, to include the one who'd risked his own life to offer him shelter. The elemental sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of his nose, "No Johnathan, I can't let you do that. You've done more than enough as is, just- ugh, look, i'm not asking for women or children to help, its playing a dangerous game with the future of you humans and honestly it doesn't sit right with me. Perhaps I should narrow down my request a bit..." Jacque tapped his foot on the ground as he thought, then snapped his fingers, "Got it. I need someone, an adult male preferably, who has a rifle and the skills to use it functionally. If one of you DOES meet that criteria, you could find a vantage point, possibly on top of the cave, and take a few pot shots at the demon out there. If that bioweapon is still alive, then between me, it, and um...", Jacque trailed off as he gestured to Zelos, not really knowing the man's name, "...the beast should be worn down a bit more. If someone starting shooting, it might inflict additional damage AND leave its defenses lowered long enough for one of us to possibly kill it.". Jacque let his idea hang in the air for a few seconds before turning and nodding to Zelos, time wasn't on the bioweapon outside's side, nor was it on Jacque's, if one of the humans decided to go through with it, they'd have to make their way out and find a spot to shoot on their own, "Just think about it people." he said before walking towards the mouth of the cave. Jacque would never verbally admit it, but he desperately hoped that if any one went out to shoot, it wouldn't be Johnathan.
Jacque grimaced when a single man ran out of the cave to assist whomever was outside. "Moron's gonna get himself killed running out there alone." He muttered whilst shaking his head. Jacque was sure that Zelos wouldn't be coming back, however surprisingly the man returned with news of what was going on outside, "A bioweapon? Well i'll be damned, the people on the Enclave actually remembered to send down something that can actually be useful when going on the offensive. Even if it is currently getting its shit pushed in, its still better than what we've got now.". Jacque received more than a few dirty looks from the huddled soldiers, most of whom were human, however Jacque couldn't care less, after all what good was a man with a rifle if he didn't have enough bullets -or in some cases, the proper training- to kill his foe?
The elemental looked down to his companion and pointed to the ground, "Stay put." he ordered flatly. Brutus whined as Jacque began to make his way through the crowd and towards the exit, but didn't move an inch as per his owner's order. Once he'd breached the edge of the crowd Jacque whistled and jerked his thumb towards the entrance to the cave, "I'm going to help our new comrade since he'll no use to us dead. If any of you still have a pair you're welcome to join me.". Jacque wasn't expecting many people to offer their services, however if at the very least one of them came, it would make taking down the demon marginally easier. Jacque was even willing to take a human with him despite his lack of belief in their combat skills, at the very least then they could give him an opening to attack by aggravating the demon with gunfire.
Jacque merely shrugged at what everyone had to say rather than actually talking, having to speak was just as exhausting to him a being around people, if not more so. John's reentry into the room shortly after the departure of Hikari and Nic made Jacque briefly wonder if he'd come back to start a ruckus, in which c however the annoyance steadily growing in Jacque found itself quickly replaced with curiosity as John mentioned a sort of peace offering. Jacque eyed the device with his head cocked sideways, but stayed silent, hoping that someone else would inquire about it so that he could find out and leave to fix his room to his liking.
Jacque shrugged and got up from the couch, then walked over to the fireplace "We've all got our stories. And, not that i'm going to start sharing what i've done, but believe me when I say no amount of years can wipe away everything. Still, it wasn't as though he himself pulled the triggers. Up until the end he was pretty much clean, well, as clean as he could be for an arms dealer." he said while picking up the bottle of root beer. Jacque pressed his thumbnail just between the cap and the bottle itself, then jerked his thumb up, forcing off the cap with an audible *pop*, "Speaking of years, as far as i'm concerned you're all 'young'. Old enough to buy tobacco, but too young to buy whiskey." he said offhandedly whilst handing Hart her drink.

Now that Jacque thought about it, he was actually the oldest member of Delta Squad, which probably explained why the guys at central had tossed a few beers into the fridge prior to the team's arrival, 'Guess they figured i'd need a drink to deal with these people...probably should've left me something a bit stronger than beer.' he mused. Jacque looked to the doorway, then turned to Hart with that ghost of a smile trying to find its way to his face, "In my opinion though, John deserves a bit of grief. He's the kind of person that likes to mess with people. Out in the civilian world with his powers, he'd be fine, or hell, could run unchecked. At least with us he can be knocked down a peg. Or a flight of stairs. Whichever gets the message across better.".
[Just tossing this out, I made a request to wizard requesting that Jacque had been housed by Johnathan about two days prior to the latest attack. Hence my post mentioning him being as grateful to John as he currently is.]

Jacque scowled deeply at Jay who'd began to pester him, "Piss off maggot." he hissed contemptuously before walking around the younger man and storming towards where the others had gathered. Brutus stopped, sniffed Jay, then licked the Papilio's leg affectionately before running off after his owner. The looks on everyone's faces as he'd joined the group told Jacque everything he'd needed to know about what had transpired just moments ago. The fuckers had FED on the fallen, the idea of such a thing made the pit of Jacque's stomach boil and burn like acid as he tried to come to terms with his rage. Most of what Jacque currently heard was the blood rushing through his ears, however through the steady throbbing, he vaguely made out what Johnathan had told the group, picking out the fact that space and resources were limited. "As if this is anything most of us aren't used to..." Jacque muttered under his breath. Brutus only whined and lay at his owner's feet, feeling distressed by the tension that hung thick in the air within the cave.
