they're put together pretty tight these days, and it takes a lot to break them (unless they're a piece of shit). Plus, the blades aren't too big, are not made for stabbing, and are made for ... well, shearing. Better to keep them together. Anyways, I wouldn't use a pair of shears in a zombie apocalypse. I'd use a machete (seriously, you could almost take a guys head off with a sharp one)

Shears? And removing them from each other is EXTREMELY difficult. It also removes much of the use of the tool. It's much more effective to use as a whole.

Looking outside, he saw the teachers ripping each other apart. "Great, it's zombies, freakin' zombies" Jack said, sighing. Of course, he had realized this a few moments before everyone else, and quickly positioned himself in the back of the class. Sure enough, the reason he moved was quite evident. The spineless high school students panicked and rioted. Everyone trying to be first out of the classroom, people shoving each other to get out, he was glad he wasn't part of it. After a half minute or so everyone had gone, of course there were a couple people still there, looking like they were hurt. He walked over to them, but realized there was nothing he could do. However, he did give them the courtesy of leaning them against the wall, a much more comfortable way to live your last moments, rather than sprawled on the floor. He soon left, and saw the chaos outside. "Shit's going down out here ..." He said, raising an eyebrow. Everything had just gone to hell, and he was right in the middle of it. He looked around for a weapon, something to protect himself against the undead horde. Of course, now he could really use some fighting music, a nice little tune to add to the theme. He started humming a tune from some 1980's song. A real lifter upper, one of those "You can do this" songs. He looked for a storage closet, probably something useful there ...

Her power was threatening to be unleashed in her worry but she held it back convincing herself her sister was safe....

Sideswipe drove, "Nothing we can do for her" He said, "but if we send out a rescue team now, it will become lost along with her, she'll just have to hold out 'till it calms down" the Autobot said. He arrived in a communications room deep inside the Ark. There were a couple autobot soldiers there, "Sideswipe!" they said, "Got some sort of weird looking alien attack!" they pointed to the screen. It was showing the alien drones on a large screen. He transformed, "Well, mind looking after this one? Optimus ordered it" He said, and the other two nodded at once. "Count on us!" one said. It was around then that the shooting stopped. "Ima go check out what's up! I'll be back!" Sideswipe said, transforming and zooming away. One Autobot sat down, "geeze, it's like everything is at constant war here" he said, checking his weapon.
