Pain. It was all she had known for hours. How long had it been since she had been taken? She didn't know anymore. Pain, fear and anger coursed through her. Fear at what her captors were going to do to her, anger at them for doing this to her, using her as a pawn to get to her sire and her family. But the pain... the pain was constant. And the pain made the fear worse, so much so that she could taste it along with the blood in her mouth. To hear her sire's voice was almost as painful as the torture. She wanted to call out to him, but the bastards had gagged her, taking away even her voice from her. She had hoped that if she could sing perhaps she could convince them to let her go. But now she had screamed so much that even if they ungagged her she wouldn't be able to sing to her full power. Lucian... his face filled her mind, making her eyes well with tears. How she longed for him, for the safety of his embrace, for the comfort of his beautiful voice and to gaze into the endless pools of his eyes. Her heart yearned for him as much as for Alistair, her sire. Then, as if the torture was not enough, the creature, the Goblin, put his hands on her. She flinched under his touch, screaming through the leather strap in protest as his vile lips molested hers. If she could have spit at him she would have, but she had to settle with giving him a look that could have wilted flowers. To be demeaned in this way, laying naked and bloodied and brusied, to be touched in this way. She thought she had left all of that behind when Alistair had turned her. He had always protected her from things such as this. He was her sire in every sense of the word. He had not only given her life but had become her father, her older brother, her family. She glared at both of the males. There was fear in her eyes, because of the pain they had wrought on her body, but also anger. The fire, though dampened a little, had not left Maria completely. If they thought to take her by force, they would have a fight on their hands. But even as she glared at them with murder in her eyes, she shook with fear and tears fell down her cheeks from the pain, the salt only adding to the sting.
Jessalyn, Ben - Baton Rouge - Tremblay, Kerry Jess was silent the rest of the ride, not speaking to her captor the rest of the way no matter what he said. Nothing he had to say could change how angry she felt towards him. She spent the time focusing on Ben, trying to soothe him and get him to smile. The baby, although only a month old, could sense his mother's upset and that made him upset. The little one frowned a frown that would make Floyd proud. Floyd... Jess rubbed Ben's head soothingly, pressing gentle kisses to him and murmuring softly as she saw Floyd's face in her mind's eye. "He will come for us one day," she murmured to her baby. "He will come, and he will love us, and keep us safe. I swear. He will come." -- Once the van finally stopped she could hear the sound of people talking and moving about. It reminded her of Haywood a bit. She said a quick prayer that the leader of this place was not like Bruce or Robert had been. Her kidnapper got out and started talking to another man, leaving her and Ben alone in the van. Ben started to fuss, working his way up to crying. Jess rocked him and tried to quiet him. They needed to draw as little attention to themselves as possible. The door was suddenly opened and Jess immediately braced herself to be grabbed and yanked out of the van, unconsciously hugging Ben more tightly against her. The man was good-looking, but Bruce had been good-looking too... She stared at him, trying to decide what game he was playing. He acted... civil... like she was there for a visit instead of having been forced here against her will. "Jessalyn," she finally answered quietly, tensing when she saw one of the men standing behind him was the one that had tried to take her baby from her. Ben let out a wail, not loud but enough to affect anyone standing around the van that didn't have a heart of stone. It was a pitiful cry. "Shh," Jess murmured, kissing his forehead. "Ben... shh... I'm here... Mommy's here... shh..." she tried to soothe him as she looked at the man with a mixture of bravado and fear, daring him to take her baby but terrified that he would actually try to do so. "What do you want with us? Take us back. Please. All of my supplies for him are back at the house." As she waited for him to either answer her or pull her out of the van, Jess thought about her group. Had Turisa and Leah noticed her capture? Had Abram and Samantha returned? Would they look for her? Or would they just continue on their way?
Jessalyn - Baton Rouge Street - Kerry, Bad Men Jess shrieked when the other men suddenly appeared. She struggled but there were four and she had one arm occupied with Ben. One of them tried to take Ben from her. "No!" she screamed. "Don't!" Thankfully he was stopped by the actor, the man who had lied to her so underhandedly. She had just been trying to help him. Why was he doing this to her? From the way the men listened to him she could only assume that he was in charge. Once they were in the van he got in and they took off. She held Ben close as he screamed in protest to all of the upset. Tears stung her eyes as she kissed him and murmured soothingly to him to get him to calm down. Once he was whimpering quietly, she turned her angry gaze on the man near her. "How could you?" she asked accusingly. "I wanted to help you. How could you use that to do something like this?" It infuriated her that he had used her kindness against her. Floyd had been proved right yet again. She was too trusting of people. Her gentle nature had now placed her baby in danger. She pressed a gentle kiss to her baby's head, keeping him sheilded from the man in case he changed his mind and tried to take him away. "If you dare touch my baby, I will kill you," she said, saying each word slowly and with emphasis. Her eyes told him she meant every word. Jess may have been kind and gentle and warm, but when it came to her son she would slaughter anyone who tried to hurt or take him with her bare hands. ----- Katie - Motel - Scarlett, Tyler Once they reached the motel from before Katie put her sleeping kitten in her and her Daddy's room before she followed Scarlett to her room and sat on the bed, bouncing a little. "Scarlett," she said, speaking with all the seriousness a seven year old could muster. "I need to talk to you." When Scarlett sat next to her Katie swallowed hard, suddenly nervous about what she was going to say. "My mommy and big brother got sick and went away," she said quietly. "I have trouble remembering her sometimes. Daddy is still really sad about it, I know he is. I love my Daddy, I don't care what anyone says or who doesn't like him. He is my Daddy. He always takes care of me and hugs me and plays with me and carries me when I am tired and makes sure I have something to eat when I am hungry and he always comes for me when I am in trouble. He is best Daddy in the world," she added firmly, as if daring anyone to argue that point with her. "But I want my mommy and big brother back," Katie informed her. "Then we'll be a whole family again and Daddy will be happy again too and he'll smile again. I want Liam to be my big brother and..." she paused for a moment, then looked up at Scarlett with wide puppy eyes. "I want you to be my new Mommy." Then the words came in a rush, with Katie barely breathing in between. "Please Scarlett! Please, please, please! I want you to be my Mommy! You're pretty and nice and you take care of me when my Daddy is not around and you talk to me and I love you! Please Scarlett? Please be my new Mommy. I want you to be my new Mommy!" The little girl threw her arms around Scarlett as she begged, suddenly afraid. What if Scarlett said no? What if she didn't like Katie? What if she thought Katie was annoying and a brat like other people had? What if she got mad? The door opened and Katie gasped when her Daddy walked in. She let go of Scarlett like she had been caught doing something wrong. "Hi Daddy," she said, but since she was a seven year old every emotion read on her face. She looked down at her feet guiltily.
I just wanted to stop in and say how much I miss all of you guys. I am still keeping up with the rp. I read every post. I will be coming back after I get some things in my life straightened out. As soon as I feel up to handling two rps I will be back. I promise. Thank you for keeping my character as part of the story. I appreciate it more then you know. You guys are an awesome group of rpers and it is a privilege and a blessing to be a part of the story with you.
Katie - Streets - Tyler, Liam, Scarlett Katie tried not to be too sad as they walked. It was scary not knowing where they were going or what they were going to do. Her daddy usually had the answers, but if he did now he was not sharing them with her. But the little girl put on a brave face for her daddy and for Liam. Liam might have been bigger then her but sometimes he acted younger. Katie felt like she needed to protect him and be strong so he would know everything was going to be okay. Which she really hoped it would. She jumped when she felt a hand on her head but relaxed an instant later as she recognized the feminine hand. Scarlett was petting her. Katie liked it. Since her mommy had gone away Katie enjoyed attention from women. Scarlett was really nice. And she was a grown-up like her daddy so she would know what to do. As they walked, Katie got a seriously contemplative look on her face. Her mommy and brother had gone away... Now she had Scarlett and Liam... Maybe... they could be her new mommy and brother? Liam was already like her brother and Scarlett had been there to comfort and care for her when her daddy wasn't around. Katie decided that she would talk to Scarlett about this the next time they stopped to rest. This was serious business. She would ask Scarlett to be her new mommy, then when she said yes all Katie had to do was tell her daddy that Scarlett had already said yes and then he couldn't say no. It didn't even occur to her that Scarlett might not want to be her new mommy. It was already a forgone conclusion in Katie's mind. Now that she had made up her mind about it, it was time to engage her seven year old powers of epic cuteness in order to make it a reality. ----- Jessalyn - Baton Rouge House - Kerry Jess had been busy bouncing and laughing quietly with Ben. The baby was loving the sunshine and fresh air, giggling each time his mommy lifted him into the air and kissed him. It was a picture of simple joy and contentment that was rare in the times they tried to survive in. But nothing lasts forever and their peace was shattered by a voice calling to her. Jess was immediately on her feet and shielding Ben from possible harm. She saw the man and looked around wearily for either walkers or the bandits he spoke about. Seeing nothing either alive or dead, she moved towards him. He didn't look armed but she still kept Ben out of his reach. As she got closer and saw how hurt he was, her compassionate heart took over. "You poor man," she murmured and knelt beside him but still kept Ben tucked close to her chest. Her motherly instincts to protect her child from strangers was still strong. She offered her hand to him, taking his hand gently and smiling kindly. "We have water and a little food inside. My friends can help take care of your injuries. We have extra clothes too," she added, noting his worn and slightly torn clothes. "Come on," she said. "We'll help you. Don't worry."
Jessalyn - House/Baton Rouge - Outside Once Ben was done eating she burped him and changed him before looking through the clothes in the room. She found a white onesie and a pair of blue overalls with a cartoon lion on them. For herself she found a pair of jeans that were a little long so she had to roll up the legs a bit and a dark green shirt with a blue butterfly on it. Jess didn't see anyone as she came downstairs. Perhaps they were off looking for supplies or scouting the area. Peering outside cautiously, Jess saw there was no one in sight, living or dead. She didn't plan on going for a walk, but Ben needed a little fresh air and the sun was out. It seemed like a beautiful day. Jess sat down in the yard but still close to the door in case she needed to run inside. Holding Ben up, she lightly bounced him, raising him up in the air then briging him back down to kiss his face. She made silly faces and blew a raspberry into his belly. The baby boy giggled in delight. The whole time she played though Jess kept a sharp eye and ear out. The moment she spotted movement or heard anything they would be back inside the house in a flash. ----- Katie - Baton Rouge apartment - Leave? Katie thanked Adam for the bowl, but stayed close to Liam. Anyone who wanted to hide things was not doing anything good. It worried her, because Adam was supposed to be their friend. She was relieved when her daddy came back. But that relief soon turned to hurt confusion. When he said they had to leave she didn't understand, but when he said they were not welcome anymore the little girl felt the sting of betrayal. She looked at the group with large hurt eyes, like a fawn that had been harmed by it's own mother. "You don't like us anymore?" she asked but didn't wait for a response. It was probably one she didn't want to hear anyway. She scooped up her kitten and her small backpack. When Elyse tried to reach out to her the little girl pulled away. "I think all of you are very mean," she stated her opinion on the matter before going to her daddy. Along the way she took Liam's hand, silently stating that he was coming with them too. Liam was a kid like her and he had saved her before, had kept her safe and hidden when that dirty man had tried to hurt her and her daddy. He had drawn with her and played with her and helped her take care of her kitten. Liam was her friend. And with the way things were going, they needed all of the friends they could get. She didn't really care if George stayed. He was grouchy and sometimes mean. If the only people that went were her, her daddy, Liam and Scarlett, Katie would be happy. Scarlet her friend now too.
Katie - Apartment / Baton Rouge - Liam, Elyse, Adam They kept her distracted so that she didn't notice her daddy had left until he was gone. Katie tried not to make a fuss about it. She needed to stop being such a baby. Just because he left did not mean he was not coming back. At least that was what Elyse said. Katie wasn't sure, but kept her anxiety to herself. She tried playing with Liam and her kitten for a bit but her heart wasn't really in it. She kept watching the door expectantly. Elyse noticed too because finally she spoke up and got the kids' attention. "Liam, Katie, I could use some help making dinner for tonight. Liam, please peel these potatoes for me. Katie, could you go to the storeroom and look in a big brown box and bring me back three onions." Katie made a face. She didn't like onions. But her daddy had told her that she needed to eat whatever was made and not complain. When you went through times without food, you learned to eat things you didn't like just so your tummy wouldn't be empty. So without comment Katie went down to the storeroom. It wasn't just having to eat onions or her daddy being gone that was making the child so serious and not as talkative that day. It was what he had said about her learning to shoot a gun. She hated guns. Guns killed people. A gun had killed Lauren. The memory of her face exploding still gave Katie nightmares. She didn't want to make someone's face explode. She reached the storeroom, but as she opened the door she realized someone was in there. Someone who was at the one of the shelves... stuffing things in their pockets... "Adam...?" Katie asked, unsure of what she was seeing. He couldn't be doing what it looked like he was doing. He wasn't like the smelly mean men her daddy used to have around. This was Adam. He was their friend. ----- Jessalyn - House/Baton Rouge - Others Ben's fussing woke her up. It was his 'mommy I want to eat' fussing that was the prelude to his 'feed me now' howl. "Okay baby boy, I'm coming," she said, getting up from the mattress on the floor and stretching. She went to the crib and scooped the fussing baby up and cradled him close, going to the rocking chair to get comfortable while she fed him. Jess had basically claimed in nursery as her and Ben's room. No matter how long they stayed here, and she hoped it was a while, they would have their own space for her to feed and change Ben. He certainly seemed to favor the disposable diapers and his little bottom was looking better since she had discovered the can of baby powder, and thanked God in heaven for it. And least she wouldn't have to worry about baby food for a bit. She was his portable milk machine. As long as she was fed, he would be fed. Jess rocked slowly and gently, covering the feeding with a baby blanket in case anyone walked in. She didn't think the girls would mind but Abram might get uncomfortable. She wondered where everyone was.
I would be open to having her go missing. Then, maybe when my health is better, I could come back. I just didn't want to hold you guys up, but if the story can progress without me for a while then maybe I could come back later when I am able to post regularly again, and add even more drama. Thank you everyone for being so kind and understanding. It means a lot.
been dealing with stomach/intestinal pain, fatigue and restlessness (can't get good sleep at night, constantly waking up) chronic migraines and (sorry boys, look away) abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding that had made me anemic. Doctors are not sure what is wrong. I am on light duty at my job (sitting in a booth exchanging pins for people) I'm sure everything will work out eventually, but in the meantime it is not fair to hold you guys up. Thx Savi, for the concern and for understanding.
