Katie - Woods - Lauren, Bull

Katie face showed her heart breaking. "No!" she screamed. "Not my daddy, no!"
She started to cry her eyes out, wracking sobs that shook her small body. "Daddy! Daddy!"
She barely felt the arms that wrapped around her, barely heard the words that were spoken. She wanted her daddy...

Her mommy had gone away. Her big brother had gone away. Why did her daddy leave her?
"I want my daddy," she sobbed. "Make him come back. I don't want him to go away like mommy. I want my daddy back. Bring him back," she begged.

It was a long time before she finally quieted down. Large tears still spilled down her cheeks, her eyes red and swollen, her lip trembling. Katie stared off into space, not speaking or making any kind of sound.

Jessalyn - Woods - Floyd

Jess took the bottle he offered gratefully, hurriedly drinking a large mouthful. She took about sip and savored it, letting it sit in her mouth for several minutes before swallowing.
Then she handed him the bottle. "Here. You need to drink to," she said, having left half of it for him. They would need to share everything from here on out.

She watched him make a fire almost out of thin air. He was so incredible to her. It seemed like he could do anything. He was unlike any man she had ever known before. Certainly different from Bruce.

The thought of her baby's father made her wince in pain. She stared into the fire, the light playing off of her hair and making her eyes seem to glow.
"The leader of Haywood was the father of my child," she said, needing to talk about it. She hugged herself, looking small and fragile. "When I told him about the baby being his, he tried to kill me. He said he wanted me dead, me and the bastard child inside of me," she said, her voice starting to break a little. It still hurt to think about it. This had been the first chance she'd had to sit and really reflect on what had happened to her in the last few days. The weight of everything started to weigh on her shoulders, making her feel emotionally drained and physically and mentally exhausted.

Tears swam in her eyes, but she wouldn't let them fall. "Eli died trying to stop him," she continued. "He tried to stop Bruce's madness. "In the end... I think he was a good man. At least, he tried to be."

She looked up at him, her eyes heavy with sleep. Getting up, she moved closer to him without asking if it was alright. She needed to be near someone, to have some kind of human contact with someone who wasn't trying to kill her or use her.
Sitting beside him, she laid down so that her head was nearly touching his leg. Knowing that he was near made her feel safe enough to relax.
"Don't leave me," she murmured as her eyes drooped closed.
Jess - Woods - Floyd

They ran for so long. Jess got tired and her legs started to hurt. When they finally stopped she felt like her lungs were on fire. But whenever she tried to slow down he'd pull her to go faster. She understood why. They needed to cover as much ground as possible.
BUt she was so tired...

She nearly cried when he finally laid down. She leaned against a tree then slid to the ground, trying to take even breaths.
When he asked if she was okay she nodded. "I'm fine," she tried to sound convincing. She didn't want to be a burden for him. She didn't want him to leave her behind.
"But... I am a... a little bit... thirsty," she said, hesitating several times before finally getting it out. "But it's not urgent," she added quickly. She was hungry too, but kept that to herself.

Soon they were up and walking again, then time he wasn't holding on to her. Jess kept up as best as she could, forcing a smile when Floyd looked over his shoulder at her.

The swamp was less then appealing, but Floyd seemed to know what to do so she didn't argue. She followed his lead of washing up a little. She was really thirsty by then, but wasn't about to drink the swamp water. She wasn't that desperate yet.
"Do you think there might be some... er, cleaner water around?" she asked, not wanting to seem like she was complaining. "I just don't think we should drink this water."

Lynn - Catacombs - Tyler

"You still don't get it," Lynn said, shaking her head. "You never will. You will never understand anything beyond your own selfishness."

He called her weak, said she was going to die alone. She only smiled. He knew where to hit, but so did she.
"At least you don't have to worry about Katie. She's young enough that she will probably forget this whole thing. Lauren and Bull will become her new parents. She'll forget all about her douchebag father. She's going to forget all about you Tyler. She'll be happy with her new father. Wonder how long it'll take her to call him daddy, for him to hold her in his lap and make her feel loved?"

She knew she was pushing beyond the limit, but she was dying so why should she give a fuck.
"You've lost your empire and your daughter. Which one upsets you more? That you're a failure or that you'll never see your kid again? That another man is going to raise her?"

She suddenly lunged towards him, mouth open, snarling as her teeth prepared to sink into his flesh.

Katie - Woods - Lauren, Bull

Katie held on tightly to Lauren until she felt a rush of air. She lifted her head, her eyes wide in shock and awe.

They were... outside...
She felt the fresh air on her face, saw the sky. The little girl had longed for the outside for so long. The grass, the dirt, the trees, the sky... the blue sky...

"Lauren?" she whispered, as though she was afraid talking too loud would break a spell. "We're... outside...?"

The sounds of fighting could still be heard as they left the city behind, heading into the woods until the sounds faded and all around them was quiet.
Katie wiggled to get Lauren to put her down. Once she was on her feet the child looked around in a daze at this world that she had been denied for so long.

She swallowed hard, then looked back towards the city.
"Will... will my daddy come?" she asked, partly hopeful and partly afraid. The last time she had seen him he'd been so angry. Did she really want to see him again?
"Lauren?" she asked, looking up at the woman with tears shining in her eyes. "Does he not... not love me anymore?"
thank you for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. And whoops sorry Saxon! Going to fix it right now!
Fate...
She was a cruel bitch with a taste for irony.

The world around her was dark, smelly and cold. Damn it how she hated being cold. It was all she had known for a long time now. Ever since he had come into her life.

Sebastian Lacroix...
She would spend her entire unlife cursing the day she had heard his wretched name.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Say hello to our honored guest Jennifer. My business partner Sebastian Lacroix. Sebastian, my daughter Jennifer."
The pretty young brunette smiled a charming smile. "It is good to meet you Mr. Lacroix."
"What a charming young lady," the pale stranger had said, taking her hand and lighting kissing it. Only her training at finishing school had kept her from shivering at the coldness of his hands and lips.
He had done the same with her mother, remarking on what a wonderful and handsome family the Von Jordan's were...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If only she had known then what kind of monster her father had let into their home, into their lives.
He had taken everything from her, not even deigning to let her keep her name.
'Juliette', that was what he had renamed her when he had killed her...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"But I don't understand. Why did you ask me to attend your meeting with my father?"
"I am afraid your father is not coming my dear."
His voice had chilled her, his eyes causing a shiver down her spine. "I don't understand," she repeated.
"You will, in time. You see dear child, your father is really not as good as business man as everyone believes. Nearly all of his success is due to me. And now the time has come for me to collect payment for my generosity."
"Payment?" she echoed, a horrible suspiscion creeping into her mind like ice over a pond.
He had chuckled, a dark sound that she would grow to hate with all of her being. "Why ask when you already know? I can see it in your eyes. The growing awareness... the understanding... the fear..." he had inhaled and licked his lips. "It is intoxicating."
"Don't touch me!" she had cried and ran for the door. With inhuman speed he had moved to block her way, laughing the whole time.
"Come now. Surely you don't think I have designs on your pure innocence? I would not do something so... vulgar."
"Then what do you want?" she had demanded.
In a blink she had been trapped in his steel-like arms. "I want to give you a gift..." he had said before a blinding pain had enveloped her body.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They called it 'The Embrace'. The warmth of the name hid the pain and utter cruelty of the action.

On that night, the girl known as Jennifer Von Jordan had been murdered. In her place rose Juliette, a child of the night whose beauty was forever frozen at the age of eighteen.
She had become Lacroix's doll, his trophy, his pet. He kept her locked away for many months, using mental and emotional torture to break her down. When he had finally let her out again Juliette had been a shell of her former self.
From there the Ventrue Prince had reshaped her, molded her into the perfect little childe, a pretty doll to have at his side.

He dressed her lavishly. Only the finest silks touched her porcelain skin, only gold and fine jewels adorned her, only the highest quality blood passed her lips.
But all in secret. No one was to know that their prince had sired a childe, not until she was absolutely perfect in every way.

Juliette had seemed to comply with all of this, adjusting quickly and beautifully to Lacroix's every desire. But it was all a show that even Lacroix couldn't see through. What kept her going was her burning hatred for the man that had taken everything from her : her life, her name, her future, her freedom...
Once she had gained his trust, she had begun her plan for revenge. She had soaked up all of the information she could, about the Ventrue, their history, their wars and their enemies. Under the guise of the perfect student she had absorbed all she could in order to learn what she could use against the monster who held her captive.

In time she had learned of the Anarchs. They were enemies of Lacroix and were working against him and his empire. That was all she'd needed, and wanted, to know.
Getting in touch with them, and gaining their trust, had been difficult and had taken all of her cunning and wit, not to mention paying off quite a few underlings. But Juliette had been happy to feed them information about Lacroix and his plans, waiting for the day when she could watch him suffer horribly before enduring final death.

But, once again, fate had stepped in and screwed her over. Quite royally this time.
Not only had Lacroix been blown to pieces, taking away her enjoyment of watching him die, but her secret had been discovered and revealed to the Ventrue in the city of Los Angeles, not only of her existence as Lacroix's childe but also her affiliation with the Anarchs.

And now, the once spoiled rich girl turned high class vampire was now a refugee, on the run from her own clan who no doubt had put a high price on her head.
It was almost enough to make her laugh.

Juliette felt the pangs of hunger for the first time in her life, and unlife. But every human she passed in this low-life part of the city had such low quality blood that if she tried to drink it she would get sick. The bad part about being a Ventrue was that they required high quality blood.

Even if she knew where to find what she needed, she had no time to stop to hunt. She couldn't stand still for more then a minute if she wanted to survive the night. She had to get somewhere safe before the Ventrue found her and before dawn. They only people she could trust were the Anarchs, but finding them was proving to be harder then ever. Since Lacroix had been excecuted all Anarchs had gone underground, afraid of being pinpointed in the murder. Lacroix had many enemies but most of them had remained in the shadows and not as vocal as the Anarchs.

Her white gown was out of place here. Lacroix had always insisted she wear white. She hated the color white now.
Half of her hair was done up in an elegant bun with the rest hanging down, curled and flawless. She had ditched her jewelry immediately, no doubt making some homeless person very happy once they found it.
But the knawing hunger was really starting to get to her. It was starting to affect her vision and her sense of balance.
She needed to feed. Now.

The next person she laid eyes on happened to be a cop. Not ideal, but beggars couldn't be choosers. She shuddered at the very thought of herself begging.
Tapping into one of the Disciplines she had inherited as part of her Ventrue bloodline : Prescence.

"Excuse me sir? Please, I need help."

The male cop did exactly what she thought he'd do. "Miss? What are you doing out here? This is no place for a lady."

"I was kidnapped and robbed," she said, forcing tears to her eyes, another ploy that had worked many times for her. "He's back there," she pointed behind her. "Please..." she begged softly, touching him gently, shyly. "Please help me..."

The effect was immediate and almost laughably simple. He followed her like a lamb to the slaughter right into an alley between two buildings. "Where is he?"

"There," she whimpered, pointing behind some piles of trash. When he went to look she was instantly upon him and breaking his skin with her teeth. His blood rushed into her mouth and she nearly gagged from it. Desperation was revolting. The blood hit her stomach like a brick and made her nautious, but she drank anyway. She had to force herself to choke it down.
When the edge was taken off of her hunger she released him. He stood in a daze and she knew he likely wouldn't remember a thing when he came out of his stupor. She spat out what little remained on her tongue and hurried away, disappearing into the night.

One name had constantly come up when she had been feeding information to the Anarchs. It was this name that stuck in her mind and she was sure it was the one she needed to find.

Saxon...
Jessalyn - Catacombs - Floyd

Jess was surprise at Floyd's reaction. It touched her heart to see him so concerned with her and her injuries.

"It wasn't your fault," she insisted. "There was nothing you could do."

They didn't have much time to talk about it. It seemed like the catacombs were crumbing around them. Jessalyn was terrified of being buried alive.
But he was going to leave Lynn...
"We can't just leave her," she said, resisting his pull on her arm. "She's all I have left if you leav-..." she stopped herself before completing the sentence. If he left her... she would have no one...

He tugged her along anyway and she knew she couldn't fight him, he was stronger then her by far. She felt like a traitor, leaving Lynn behind to die.
Forgive me, she thought as they made their way out.

-outside-

Fresh air was intoxicating. The first breath of it filling her lungs was the most incredible feeling she had ever experienced. The light of the outside world was uplifting and encouraging. They had made it. They had gotten out alive...

The sounds of fighting and screams faded as they moved away from the nightmare going on below their feet. It was almost peaceful on the surface, a light breeze blowing her hair, playing with the ends and making them curl.

Floyd's firm grip on her arm kept her from falling in relief and exhaustion. "Where... where are we going?" she asked. Whatever happened, she had confidence that Floyd would know what to do.

Tears stung her eyes and prickled her nose as she thought of Lynn. She wiped at her eyes, trying to stop. She didn't need to make things more difficult then they already were. Floyd didn't want or need her tears or her sadness.

Lynn - Underground - Tyler

Lynn smirked when she found her prey. This time there were no bars between them, none of his lackeys to stop her, no guns to hold her back.
His ass was hers.

"I tried to warn you Tyler," she said, coming closer slowly. "Your stubborn pride is what led to this. If you had just listened to me..." she trailed off and rolled her shoulders, cracking her neck. "But it's too late now. Now it all ends here. For both of us."

Reaching up, she pulled her top aside to reveal a nasty looking gouge in her shoulder. Her laugh was without humor. "Too many times in the arena. Got tired. Got slow. One of the rotting bastards nailed me."
She laughed again, a laugh tinged with hysteria. "And you know what's funny? I fucking loved you. I really did. With all my fucking heart. How stupid was I right? How pathetic?"
Her laugh suddenly stopped and her expression turned serious. "Lauren took your kid. Good thing too. She deserves someone who gives a shit about her, who'll raise her right. But at least you can die knowing she'll be taken care of."

She came closer, her eyes were beginning to change, to get a yellow look to them. "I fought the infection, waiting for the chance to take you with me. Before I turn into a mindless rotting corpse I'm going to infect you too, watch you slowly descend into despair like I have. So you can know the torture that I have been through for the past few days, to know what was happening to me and not be able to stop it."

She crouched, preparing to attack. "See you in hell babe."

Katie - Catacombs - Lauren

Katie was soothed by Lauren's words and comforting caresses enough for her sobs to decrease, but tears still escaped her eyes as they ran. She heard Bull talking, but didn't lift her head.

Where was her daddy? Was he still angry at her? Was he fighting? Was he hurt? Dying? Dead?

These questions burned in her mind, but she kept quiet. Lauren and Bull was trying to her get out, so she stayed still and quiet, holding on to Lauren. Katie had promised to be a good girl from now on and she meant to keep that promise.

"Lauren?" she whispered. "Are we going to die?"

Lynn - Cells - Brad

"Wasn't there an errand Tyler gave you to do?" Lynn asked, getting desperate to get away.
But to her surprise he got off of her, going back for his machete. That was all the break she needed. In an instant she was off running, hunting for Tyler.

Her vision blurred for a moment and she shook her head to clear it. She felt that she had a fever. A fever that was steadily rising...

Jessalyn - Catacombs - Floyd

Jess was scared at first when she saw the shadow, but when the man finally came into veiw she felt nearly faint with relief. He wasn't a walker.
As soon as she registered that she recognized him.

"Floyd...?" she breathed, not believing for a moment that it was him. When he turned and looked up at her, she scrambled down from her perch.
"Floyd!" she cried in relief and ran to him, throwing her arms tightly around him. He was covered in sweat, dirt and walker blood, but she didn't care. In the emotion of the moment, she pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"I was so afraid you were dead!" she told him, holding on tight. "I begged them to go back for you, but they wouldn't listen to me!"

She pulled back and brushed his hair away from his face. "Eli is dead," she told him. "Killed by the man who sold women to Tyler for supplies. But that man is dead too, killed by his own men when he tried to kill me."
Jess knew she was babbling, but she couldn't help it.

When he said they were going to get out of there, she nodded eagerly. "But what about Lynn? She's here too."
Katie - Underground - Lauren

Katie reached her arms up, wanting Lauren to carry her. Once the woman picked her up Katie buried her face into the woman's neck and held on for dear life. All she could hear was her world ending around her. Shouts, gunshots, swears, screams... it became like white noise in her mind. She continued to cry, her tears dripping down Lauren's neck and wetting her shirt.

Daddy... Daddy where are you?
She was scared, but she even after him yelling at her she still wanted her daddy. She wanted him to hold her and make everything go away.

"I'm sorry," she whimpered into Lauren's ear. "I'm sorry. I won't be bad anymore. I promise. Make it stop. Make everything go back. I want my daddy back. I promise I won't be bad anymore. I'm sorry."

Somehow, this was her fault. For always sneaking out of her room, for teasing and tricking the men, for eavesdropping when she wasn't supposed to, for not listening... she had caused all of this. It was all her fault.

Lynn - Cells - Brad

Lynn fought for all she was worth. There was no way she was going to let Tyler's lapdog kill her before she took a chunk out of Tyler.
Because she didn't have much time left.

"You really need to let go of me boy," she said with a scary grin. "I don't want to hurt you, but I will if you force me to. My fight is with Tyler, not you. And if you don't like being called homo you really shouldn't have such hatred for women and follow Tyler around like a puppy. Do you even know what the other guys say behind your back?"

She taunted him with this, trying to direct his anger at something other than her.
"They say that you hate me because Tyler was fucking me and not you. They say you want to kill Tyler's kid because your jealous of the love and attention he gives her. They talk about you Brad... talk about how much you want Tyler... you know what they call you? We both have similar nicknames. They call me 'Tyler's whore', you are 'Tyler's bitch'. And Tyler knows about it. He thinks it's fucking funny. He laughs about it."

Okay so maybe that part was not quite true, but the other stuff was.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jessalyn - Hallways/Harem
Jess managed to get herself lost. She came very close to swearing. She did find a piece of bent pipe to use as a weapon in case she needed it.
She had gone down one hallway, realized it was wrong and was doubling back when she heard it.
Snarls...
The sound made her freeze.
The walkers... The cells must have been damaged in the explosion...
The walkers had gotten loose...
Jess saw a shadow and gasped. It came towards her and she raised the pipe, ready to strike at whatever it was.
A raider came around the corner. "Shit what are you doing out here?!"
"The walkers got loose!" she answered, trying to distract him from the fact that she wasn't locked up anymore.
It worked.
"Son of a-!" he started, and looked around, listening. Shirll screams came from a short distance away.
"The girls!" Jess exclaimed and started to run, only to be stopped by the raider.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?"
"I have to get to them!" Jess exclaimed. "Those girls, some of them are pregnant! They don't stand a chance!"
"Fuck those bitches!" he snapped. "You're the furthest along and that makes you more valuable. You're coming with me to Tyler."
"No!" Jess shouted and swung at him with the pipe. It caught him right above the eye. The man let go of her to grab his head. Jess took off.
She reached the harem, but it was too late.
Some of the girls had taken the opportunity to run. Hopefully they had made it to the Haywood men. But the ones who had refused to leave...
Jess closed her eyes and turned away, leaning against the doorframe and trying not to vomit. Their bodies had been torn apart by walkers.
A snarl told her she wasn't alone in the room. She whirled around in time to see two walkers dragging themselves towards her. Thankfully they weren't very fast, one having lost a leg and the other having no legs at all.
Jess climbed up on top of one of the dressers, out of the creatures' reach, and when they tried to climb up after her she hit them with the pipe to knock them back down.
"Help!" she called out, hoping someone with a gun would hear her.
Katie - Underground - Lauren
Katie heard Lauren talking, but she didn't want to come out. Her little heart had been broken by the one person she truly loved and cared about more then anything, the one person she trusted to never hurt her had hurt her the most. She continued to cry, wishing that she was dead.
An explosion made her scream in terror. She scrambled out of the vent as the entire world shook.
"DADDY!" she screamed, terrified. She ran to Lauren and latched on to the woman, crying. "DADDY!" she screamed again.
Several men came charging their way. They were strangers and they had guns. Katie clung to Lauren, burying her face into her leg. "Make it stop!" she cried, not understanding what was happening. She was more scared then she had ever been before. There was zero chance she wouldn't come out of this traumatized.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lynn - Cells - Brad

Lynn could only chuckle when Brad came her way. "You finally going to kill me? At least you finally grew a pair. I was wondering how long it would take for you to let your jealousy out. But seriously this homo-love you have for Tyler is truly disturbing. More power to you for embracing your sexuality, but you could do a hell of a lot better then that motherfucker."

Lynn stood and stretched. "Sorry Bradley, but I'm not going to roll over for you."
Suddenly a shrill scream echoed.
"DADDY"
Using the distraction to her advantage, Lynn charged at Brad and faked to the left before going right and darting past him. She wasn't about to take on a man with a machete when she had nothing. No, the only man she wanted to get her hands on was Tyler.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jessalyn - Underground
Jess heard the shooting and shouting. She had been locked in a room apart from the other women. She started pounding on the door. "Help! Anyone! Let me out!"
The explosion shook the ground and knocked her down. Jess scrambled to her feet. Fortunately it had also knocked the door jam loose. One good slam with her shoulder got the door open.
Stumbling out into the hallway, Jess put up her hands in defense as men with guns rushed past her. They didn't even acknowledge her, focused on something obviously more important.
She was free. For the first time since she had been taken captive by Eli, she was free. No one was watching her or restraining her, no lock was keeping her in. She could get out.
Thoughts of the other women played in her mind. They were in that harem, probably terrified. They wouldn't survive this on their own. They were like caged birds, too domesticated to deal with the real world anymore.
Jess sighed deeply and turned away from freedom, hurrying back towards the harem.
