Startled, Grüg crushed the fine lure between his fingertips. His thick eyebrows knitted, he looked hard at the stranger. The camp smoke overtook his sensitive nose. No telling what sort of beast this interloper was, nor if his entire clan were waiting in the undergrowth, waiting to spring.

He shrugged at Vaunk's question, gesturing at the pile of viscera, bones, and scales.

"Plenty in the lake."

Grüg eyed the proffered stone.

"Keep your rock. I'm Grüg. Grolarkin."

Grüg hunched his back against the howling northern wind. He stabbed at his meager fire with a blackened stick. Spring may be rising, but the lake stretching across the brightening northern vista knew nothing but cold. His morning meal of raw lake trout lay finished but for the bones. Grüg sighed and picked at the desiccated rib cage. He set to braiding the finest of the bones into a fresh set of hooks, his calloused fingers deft despite the frigid morning air.
NAME: Grüg
AGE: 31
RACE: Grolar were-bear. As in, polar bear-grizzly cross.

BELIEFS: Strength is everything.
DESIRES: A mate. A battle worthy of his death.
Before your first IC post, please take the time to flesh out your character within this format.

Our story begins in pre-historic North America, along the glaciated coastline of Lake Superior. From the snow-covered boreal forests to the north and the windswept prairies to the south, the inhospitable landscape is populated by tribes of shapeshifters. Bear-kin. Wolf-kin. Hawk-kin. And many more. They war for supremacy and survival, never settling long enough to establish stable societies.

In this world, magic is limited to shape-changing. Danger is everpresent, between the daily demands of subsistence and the constant threat of other clans. Daily life is a grim slog - respite only achieved through the mystical bonds of brother and sisterhood achieved by surmounting desperate odds.

(Think The Clan of the Cave Bear meets World of Darkness, Werewolf.)

The people of this prehistoric world are hopeful that the glaciers will recede and there can be peace among the clans, but generations of treachery, cannibalism, and desperation wear even the most trusting of natures thin.

The sun rises over the frigid waters of the great freshwater sea. It is early spring and the blue snowdrops are just beginning to push their way through the frost.
Howdy, everyone. Please reference the "Characters" tab for creation format. Post your "sheet" there, then feel free to jump in! One-liners are fine, but no *asterisk* posting, please. After two weeks of no activity, expect your character to be dead.
Howdy. Excited to start role playing again. IRL, I am finishing up my M.A. in Creative Writing and Literature and I could really use some low-pressure fun to get the juices flowing outside of an academic space.

I will always be a wolf RP purist but have been known to dip my toe in other places. All things fantasy. Science fiction. I avoid anything that smacks of "realism."
