I agree, my entire argument is everyone needs to stop Assuming.

I agree entirely, but you did ask where the assumption came from. Just doing my job.

This is true. But I also said they have had very bloody disputes in the past, and are to be considered very dangerous to pirate and bandit types. And to have such a large group spanning all races and countries, even continents, you'd think they'd have political sway as well, considering they could make trade routes very inhospitable, ironic considering they themselves are traders if they're traveling in a caravan.

Sure, but even monkey colonies have bloody disputes; and due to safety in numbers, I think any large gathering would pose a threat to bandits and pirates through numbers alone. And absolutely, I don't doubt they have huge political sway, some areas more than others, especially the more 'cultured' parts of Enduwin, but looking at this from a solely intimidation standpoint, their very nature would probably not be outwardly threatening to anyone. For example, compare what it would be like to see two groups walking down the street: a group of 1000 singers and dancers, some of whom may have had martial arts training (not that you'd ever know by looking at them) and a group of 30 well armed soldiers with rifles, grenades, the whole works. At first glance, i'd definitely be much more afraid of the soldiers because they look more likely to just shoot me in the face and be done with it. Both groups would be capable of skinning you alive if they wanted, but i'm always going to run away from the scariest first.

What is with the assumption that the Naeri aren't physically dangerous? And they will kill to avenge or protect life. >_>

It might be because they're a mobile bard college. It's not the most intimidating thing ever, you have to admit.
Goblins: The Chihuahuas of Fantasy.

Wait actually, unless you're Tolkien. Those Goblins were nasty. They looked like bogeys.

Would "attempting to strangle using a thin wire normally reserved for tripwires" count as hurting and OH MY FUTZING GOD I FORGOT SO MUCH ABOUT HARRY POTTER.

If he survives, it's not hurting. Mainly because that scene would probably be really, really funny.

I'm a tad concerned about this "sock" because I feel like I'm missing some sort of euphemism. Some sick, sick euphemism.

Just a Dobby reference. And yes I know Goblins aren't House Elves but I feel the same rules apply. Also if anybody hurts my Goblin pal' during our odd bout of j-j-j-jolly cooperation, there's gonna be heads rolling.

But your character doesn't have magic and hates the gods! Not to mention he's a loner of sorts, right? So his familiar would probably end up starving! D:Though I'm flattered that everyone wants me to play their familiar :P

Noooooo but I have a magical sword. And yes, while he hates gods, he is in need of a magical guide because reasons.
Also, not necessarily a loner, he just doesn't want anybody being a loudmouth and giving away his location, because if he is found we're all gonna get buttwrenched.

EDIT: I also swear i'll give your goblin an actual, physical sock.
*activity maximises*

I still really, really want to give Kiddo's goblin a sock. A speculative sock, Meredith.

EDIT: Be my familiar.

Probably because they are? Duh.

Knives are also a fairly useful disarming weapon, and a well placed throw can catch a chink in anyone's armor as long as it exists. But I get where you're coming from, I'll just have to wait out the display. And Sam is normally a much more powerful character but I needed him into the ground because I thought our party was gonna be fairly average >_>

Well we're more than likely gonna end up on the same side. I'm just pointing out a couple of things so that you don't get caught out against any NPCs. Hell, if the antagonist is what I think it's gonna be, we need all the oomph we can get.

He's a one of a group of Seven spanning an entire continent, a seven that meets with 4 (now 3) elders that might as well know something extremely important. Not only that, I have not described how effective a knife can really be xP

Not as effective as you may think, actually. I do hope we all abide by some semi-logiclal constraints of combat. The main problem with a knife is that it's really a short weapon, it's more effective at thrusting than actually slashing, it's always going to be ineffective vs armour due to a few factors, including the fact that there is next-to-no weight behind as of it's slashing or thrusting attacks.

Or something like that, anyway.
