Using magic near me can easily be seen as attack, and none would question it if I killed you in self defense. This is a plain threat, my friend. Do not attempt to abuse your powers so again." Jake sighed, as his anger abated slightly. "I will send the child to a good orphanage of course. But I will not entrust it to an elf who mere moments ago attempted to kidnap her. Unless you can provide proof of your valiant intentions, I am afraid I must leave you out of this affair."

Jake looks down at the Elf disapprovingly. "You grabbed a young child, and planned to make off with her, without any paperwork, or even informing the authorities, checking whether she has any valid guardians? I'm glad, then, that I came her to abort this drunken kidnapping of yours." Jake sighed, as he decided the elf was a fool. He was no doubt trying to do good, but his heart and mind were not of equal strength. Many mages, unfortunately, spent so much time above the law that they did not even understand it, or make any attempt to abide by it when they do not feel like it. It was truly a shameful thing.
