I am working this weekend so my posting will be a bit sparse still.

Something I should have noted but did not is that the average nation size for the area is the island Gowia controls and the average population would be around 5 million.

If I miss anything or anyone see any potential problems I am very receptive and understand nobody is perfect and catches everything.

GemCat, I do not see any problems, your territory with 3 million people will be a bit on the sparser side with smaller cities and more decentralized population. Given your nation though I assume that is not only acceptable but intended.

Gowia, that battleship worries me a little being a modern battleship on the same level as most modern nations. It is a maybe depending on if you can give me more detail on those other ships of yours and their numbers. I could imagine it being acceptable if it is one of only a handful of ships of destroyer size or larger given the huge monetary and resource cost of building and maintaining that. I understand that in order to have it your nation did not only weaken itself but almost outright crippled it's military in other areas for it which is why I am considering it.

Legion X51, you claimed a larger amount of territory than I would like though depending on if other people join or if everyone else is okay with it I can allow it though understand that as such a large nation that does already look to be aligning towards another you will find yourself the focus of efforts by the other major powers to overthrow your government or make your nation weaker to strengthen their allies in the region. I have a few other things for you Legion but will have to write to you later.

EDIT: I want everyone to understand not everyone will necessarily be on a level playing field as some nations will be more powerful than others as that is reality. Part of the fun on an NRP is trying to take weakness and turning it into strength or even seeing where that weakness leads.

I had considered it and a Chinese analog. I opted against the Chinese analog as they would not be much better off than the nations people are RPing except for being larger and have more population.

Japan just felt too distant from the other nations. It was half way around the world from the other theater and is largely known for it's naval capabilities. The problem is that even though the UK favored their navy as well they did their best to be directly or indirectly involved in the entire war. Japan had 2 theaters, the Chinese ground theater and Pacific naval theater. The 2nd Sino-Japanese war is often heavily overlooked unnecessarily but that is in part due to Euro-centric history. Naval forces are very, very expensive to build and maintain which will be hard for these nations to field. The Japanese Army was also generally facing under-equipped, under-trained Chinese forces which is why so many battles became utter massacres.

I felt it just would not fit, the Japanese Empire was resource poor and it's industrial power and population could never really challange the others nations here head to head. I feel it is more of a local power than a global one.

it is a WWIII tech level, 1939 to be exact.

Politically the position is closer to Cold War.

Russia in Crimea

Thus far the Crimean people seem to be backing Russia overall.

So far Crimean airports have been taken by armed men, the Crimean government has been taken by armed men, and Crimean ports are blockaded by Russian ships.

There are various sightings of Russian APCs and helicopters as well.

Not really, those were the hot zones of major conflict for decades. I am not referring simply to military conflict but to political, ideological, and economic conflict. There are 5 major powers playing a large game here so war is not going to be simple or cut and dry since everyone wants a cut of the pie.

Russia in Crimea

So this is something I have been hearing rumors about for a little while now. All kinds of little things I figured were the usual rumor mongering even when I heard about Russian units near the border having gear shipped to an unknown location, started training for extensive urban warfare, and other little things that set off red flags. Rumor mongering though is stock and trade in some places though so kind of passed it over.

Until now that is as reports flood in of Russian military forces moving into Crimea. Very little is yet available on the situation with everyone playing the political game but things could change dramatically very soon.

Two posts in and we have a good setup for one of my favorite breakfasts, steak and eggs.

A nice 1 inch thick T-bone steak cooked on low heat, 3-4 scrambled eggs with salsa over them, and some toast is a good way to start a day.

When Smoke Filled the Skies (A Diseal/Steampunk styled Nation Roleplay)

If we use only a single great empire that would be weird if we use mine sice that would mean 1 language and religion is at least somewhat present around the world and already had plans for the language and religion of the empire to conquer my nation.

If we had like 2-3 major empires take over most of the world with a few minor surviving nations it would allow for the emergance of Smoky and a common dating system.

For the starting of the Commen Era date in my nation's history a powerful empire used to rule over my nation as well as most of the surrounding area so we could use that in there somehow as well as the beginning of the use of the Smoky trade language.
