I'll throw my interest in on this, as well. Really liking the idea.

Well... It is a deity more like the Earth itself, Gaia, Mother Nature, or something in that regard. It is the type of thing that "all" cultures have, but call something different..:EDIT:.A Greater Being/Higher Power.

Still fine. In that case, though, I don't think it'd have a mosaic in the Chasm.

Is there a particular reason we're heading toward the Underdeep? Specifically, is there something there that should be attracting us like loot, or some dwarven city? Curious mostly so that I can mention it in the sheet.

Yup, it's where the Dwarves are. A Dwarf named Dane Lionbeard declared to all he was in distress, and through one way or another, your character heard about it. Underdeep is a city filled primarily with Dwarves, though it does pertain it's fair share of other races, especially miners.

So... Working on my race, still. I am currently in the process of describing their society. It's coming along nice and easy. I was, however, wondering if it would be possible to create a new deity (or a different variation of an existing one) for the race?

Yup yup, fine by me. The Gods I mentioned above are only the most popular and widely known, so if you wanted to make an entirely new deity or a variant thereof, go for it. If they have a picture on one of the mosaics in the Chasm of Light be sure to describe that too, since that will probably double as its "insignia".
Sweet! Pictures will absolutely be enough. Looking forward to them.
Added a religion section, for those interested. Also updated the character sheets to resemble such, as well, and added a note regarding blessings.

Panquake, I don't suppose you'd have any system in mind for how a holy knight mind work, would you? Like I said in the Interest Check, I was thinking about playing one, but I'm unsure how their magic would work. Not a problem if you don't have something for this. I'll just try something like a white magic instead.

Hmm..well, it seems as long as he/she is attuned to the Chasm of Light, that could probably provide the type of magic you're thinking of. There's no limit to what a Mage's focus can be, it just had to be the single item that they took into the Chasm with them when they underwent Archtonement (Which involves physically stepping into the Chasm [by opening a portal] and then sacrificing the body part of your choosing)- so it could be a sword, shield, or even a piece of armor, if you really wanted to.

As for gods, I hadn't mentioned it in the first post (But probably should have and will go back and do so now), but there are forms of rudimentary religion re-forming since after the Worldbane. They aren't as complex as the World Before (so far) and are quite Roman-cult like, but they're based on the aforementioned figures in the windows in the Chasm of Light, meaning that leaders of the "churches" are usually attuned to the Chasm.

That help at all?

My interest is being aroused. I also have a character being quite ready.

Looks good, Hebaboh.

Summary:

This RP takes place on what remains of the once-great world of Amaroth, an absolutely beautiful utopia featuring gorgeous landscape and a huge variety of inhabitants; from dwarves and elves to merfolk and giant-kin, the races of Amaroth were many. However, one-hundred and fifty years ago, Amaroth was destroyed. The coming of what is only described as the Worldbane brought Amaroth to its very knees, sparing very few, and destroying most of the united populace that tried to stop it. The Worldbane had actually been a prophesied event that was first foretold by the living elemental planes (or Chasms) when the first mages stepped through from our physical world. However, with its coming many mages either fled back into their Chasms, sacrificing their entire bodies, or went to help try and stop the catastrophe, only to be slain along with millions of others. When it was finished destroying what it thought was all of Amaroth, the Worldbane retreated from whence it came, leaving behind a corruption that seeped into much of the lands flora and fauna. If it did not kill them, it changed them, and these hellish beasts now lurk in the ruins of the once-great cities to prey upon the unwary scavenger or adventurer looking to learn more about the "World Before", which is what the denizens of modern times call the time period when Amaroth was great.

Instead of Amaroth, this place is now called the Weeping World, for life is anything but expected. In a place where even the ground you walk upon could kill you, death is wholeheartedly accepted and viewed as a general part of life. Many people are hesitant to form relationships for they fear how long they could possibly last in a land so volatile. In fact, many people look upon races with extremely long lifespans (such as the dwarves and elves) with pity.

But there are some who believe that from despair, hope can be birthed, no matter the circumstances. This demographic is small, but growing, and they are diligent in their mindset of finding hope in an otherwise Weeping World. Some have turned to protecting villages from the vile creatures or bandits that roam between them; others have turned to exploring the now buried ruins of the World Before in search of something, anything that could possibly plant the seed of hope in a quickly dying populace.

Characters are a part of this growing company: will you do everything in your power to help your neighbor, whether friend or foe? Can you bring hope into this Weeping World?

Did any new races/forces emerge as a result of the Worldbane?

Technically, yes. The corruption the Worldbane left behind when they left molded and twisted much of the world's flora and fauna, so I'd imagine that there could be a few "major" races that could've been corrupted, as well, especially if said race was very animal-like. As for generation of a new species on its own, no.

As for powers- it's been too short of a time for anyone to know entirely. Whether or not mages can or cannot control this new "Corruption Chasm" (Assuming there even is a Chasm for it [Spoiler: there is], is shrouded in mystery. At the start of the roleplay there would've been a few reports of a mage doing such, but absolutely no one would ever trust them for any reason whatsoever. Plus, no one really knows if controlling that kind of power changes a person or not.

So in terms of new forces, yes, one emerged, though it isn't widely accessible as the other Chasms, not to mention that Archtonement is difficult nowadays since there's only a handful of peoples who were taught the ritual processes in the first place. Not that I'm condemning the creation of mage characters, just realize that Archtonement is a difficult process made even more difficult now. Actually, having someone in the party be an aspiring mage wanting to go through Archtonement could be a pretty cool story arch, I think.

But anywho, I'll start on the main thread now. Shouldn't take too terribly long, since a big chunk of it is already here.

And yet again, thanks to those who showed interest!
There we go- added some more info to the first post. I'll let that simmer for a bit and then see about getting a main thread up.

Again, thanks for the interest guys!
