I'm still God.

Bio

If we are marked to die, we are enough
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires;
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart. His passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse.
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.

Alright, well it's like a quarter past twelve here. I tried working on my CS but I didn't get very far as I'm not getting satisfied with anything I write. I'll continue tomorrow, hope to see some more CS's then! Good night everyone. :)
Very good CS, this is what I like seeing. Though I think there's too many skills that are either not explained very well, or just not explained as well.

I like the small details, such as the singing voice, and I also like that you balanced her out well enough that she cannot really go into close combat without much danger.

The Nordland Saga

Welcome to the Nordland Saga! I hope you are ready to play your part in this story created by and for us. In this roleplay, survival and teamwork is central - but it doesn't have to be. How you survive is up to you! Before you begin on your CS, I would like to have some ground rules (really, it's the same as most other RP's but I feel that they must be addressed one way or another) that I'd like to state here.

Now with that out of the way, you guys probably want the CS sheet. So, here it is.

That should be all. Happy roleplaying, everyone! Awaiting those character sheets with much speculation about what's to come.

Hall of accepted Vikingr - here you find your homestead.

Just historical discussion, though I agree there's no real need to. I'll put up an OOC in like.. an hour or maybe two.
Thing is vikings were not ''wildlings'' that went to battle shirtless. :P They used actual tactics, picking high value targets like churches and some villages preferring to not battle anyone that might kill them (i.e armies) and I have difficulties believing that:

is derived from the Roman testudo or the Spartan/Greek phalanx. Formations like these were prevalent in most civilizations and their armies even without contact with Romans (see the Chinese/Koreans defending against the Japanese pirates using long spears). Either way, disregard this, this is just irrelevant if we cannot start the RP right?

So.. should I wait or get that OOC up? OOC might get us some extra attention.

Oh, and I think it's obvious we're playing AFTER the Roman era.
That's how I planned to do it, add them in later. I don't think NPC's would be smart, but it would make stuff more interesting. But it wouldn't have the same ''we're a bunch of exiled misfits'' feel, more like a ''we are a warband lets kill people''. How do you lot feel about having multiple characters?
Certainly. Do you all deem 3 people interested enough, considering the party would consist of 4 people then (I wanna play, myself, too). Should I wait or get that OOC up ASAP?
I think you are confusing the Germanic tribes and the Vikings, which raided England much later on. Referring to the shieldwall here.
Yeah, they were a militia of sorts. I doubt a normal peasant was trained enough to kill a wolf or bear, cause I think most of them trained for human vs. human combat. AFAIK conventional weapons were small handaxes, spears and a large shield, swords being reserved for the soldiers themselves (aka more trained people) as well as bearded axes (the two handed axes that served as pole-arm/axe.

So this militia would wear normal clothes, in some cases leather, and practically never mail or such (other than after a raid, when they had looted. In that case.. possible.)

However, I said I was open to suggestions. Do as you please, ask me if it's OK and if I think it would fit in the setting well enough I'm totally cool with it.

For reference: what do you think of when you think Viking-combat-battles thingies? Do you see a sort of 300-esque movie playing out in your head or ..?
