I'm still God.

Bio

If we are marked to die, we are enough
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires;
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart. His passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse.
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.

The answer lies in the IC.

If you really want to get down to it, there are numerous armies that fought with little to no armor. Greeks, Romans, a lot of barbarian tribes from around that time, off the top of my head.

Yes. Using light armor against light(er) armored troops =/= using light armor vs heavily plated knights with giant swords. Comparing sheep to cows.

IncredibleBee said Even after heavy armor was developed, the poorest foot soldiers had little in the way of protection besides what they could loot, sometimes nothing at all.

Guess who suffered most of the deaths in these armies.

To kill a plate armored soldier you had to use either blunt weaponry or survive long enough to get lucky and be able to knock/pull him down and stab him where it hurt. Hitting the joints of their armor was practically the hardest thing ever and was mostly dependant on luck in actual combat.

IncredibleBee said Also, Musashi defeated an expert martial artist with a wooden sword. Regardless of his intention, the fact that he used a wooden substitute MAKES it impressive. It's indicative of his skill as a high caliber martial artist.

Musashi knew he wasn't going to be able to defeat him conventionally, so he arrived late + fought using a wooden sword fashioned from a paddle. He infuriated his enemy. It had nothing to do with light armor vs. plate armor which we are discussing. IDK how this relates to what we are discussing. Yes it is impressive. It doesn't make him a better swordsman though, it simply shows he understood how combat works.
I.. w.. how does..

Please do explain how this relates to the fact that running onto a battlefield half naked will get you killed? I wonder where you get all this information, too, because I've been practicing martial arts for enough years now to know that when someone has a knife, you better try and see if you can run away first. Pointing out those few individuals that were skilled enough and devoted enough time (i.e entire lifetimes) to this stuff isn't enough to make this point valid.

Besides, Musashi dueled that 1 guy with a wooden sword that he cut from his paddle to infuriate the enemy. Not because he wanted to be cool or impressive.
And yes, there is also many many many accounts of guys with heavy armor and big swords killing people that had no armor. The many outweigh the few.
Is Atl a professional fencer? Cause I seem to remember he is a savage.

That said, you'll have difficulties fencing against a great sword. There's no parrying in that and 1 hit will cut your guts out -- the myth that swords and armor are heavy are also lies. Moving in armor at running speeds is perfectly possible, as is getting up when falling. Same goes for swords, they're extremely light for the way they look. There's no fencing against a greatsword.
>have fun being able to stand up let alone fight and defend yourself with your guts hanging out
>implying 1 slash with a sword, mace or spear doesn't outright kill you when you run around barechested
Pff, Atl was naked against a knight. Next time Atl is screwed. The title says 'semi realistic' after all.
But these people aren't Joachim. Obviously.
I might just have to strangle Atl at one point.
