I wonder if this place would ever run a proper Play By Post with dice rolls and whatnot.

The average life expectancy of RPs here leave something to be desired.

Ah yes, looking up words in Google Translate. Used an actual paperback dictionary back in the day, but still - looks like I'm back in the saddle.

It's not the size of the brain that counts, it's how you wield it

Not seeing what this has to do with my earlier question, but okay.

1. As far as text goes, italian, french and spanish may look the same for a nom-speaker.

2. If the speech was actually heard, it would be easier to tell the languages apart, even to a nonspeaker.

3. No2 is an illusion.
I meant if there were an audible accent. There's no way to convey an accent through text if you type in a foreign language, since pronounciation is part of the language itself. An accent, in a way, is using pronounciation rules of one language to speak in another language.

But really, in real life, if all you know from italian is-a how-a ma-ario speaksa, you have no chance.
Er, to me, as a non-french-speaking-person, it does. I would say the accent would make it easier to guess, but since I've been in Europe and South America, I'd say real, non-cartoon accent may let one differ between eastern amd western Europe, and that's if they're lucky.
@Peaceless, I'm going to assume Chris has at least a slight accent (well, from the Martian's perspective - seeing as you only really notice accents when they are foreign to you) due to being born and raised Egypt. If he doesn't, let me know and I'll edit it out of my post.

That's a good point. Yes, he has a middle eastern arabic-speaking person accent. What his voice lacks is accentuation due to emotions.
Met once again with the french guy's noncommutal attitide, Ezekiel suddenly felt compelled to become one of the sideline guys, those who do nothing in a group project, take credit if it succeeds, and if it fails accuse everybody of incompetence. He decided to hold off this change in strategy, glad to see that others also had an idea how to proceed.

He floated towards the shadow girl, feeling she may have inside information about this thing. "There is a list?" he asked in what he perceived to be a nonchalant way. Her chiding tone didn't bother him yet.
Can anyone other than Felice actually speak french?
"...Know what that means, kiddo?"

In every mammal's life, depending on their relative height on the food chain, comes a moment where all plans to stay ahead of their predator fails. Here, the responses vary. Some animals run away immediately, without thinking, and sometimes into a trap depending how well the predator planned ahead. Some rear up and prepare for battle, which is especially effective against predators who rely on stealth and the element of surprise and chaos. Humans are the exception - some thirty thousand years ago they leapt all the way from the middle of the chain to the top, and their Fight or Flight reflex became irrepairably damaged. In fact, it turned into Fight and Flight, or in most cases, neither.

And thus, Chris found himself frozen in fear. He felt, in the long pause that followed the stranger's question that anything he says, even his next breath, endangers Carrie directly. He felt he was in that room physically, getting gunned down alongside her because of a stupid pronounciation mistake. The scene must've played through his mind a thousand times, his muscles straining, small drops of sweat appearing on his forehead. There was a pain in his chest, and he was surprised to find himself holding his breath. He inhaled a short gasp.

"What - I'm not telling anybody." he finally said, quickly spitting out the words. His monotonous voice made him sound like a tough criminal being interrogated, and he wasn't sure that was a good thing. But he needed to get to the point. "What do you want from me. What can I do so you let her go unharmed."

He realized what scared him was the man's voice. Around him the bass was still pumping, and lights were still blinking. The phonecall was not real. He was imagining it all. He slowly began walking towards the entrance to the club, out of curiosity.
I wouldn't call it "poor man's". As the game demonstrated, there's some nasty stuff you can do with portals. It reminds me of that girl in Days of Future Past - she was a gamebreaker. And I see every reason for one of the good guys having that power.
Nope. Personally I am not sure how to treat the fact your char has two completely unrelated powers, so I will let thatguy decide (I know he said you can have 3 unrelated abilities, I'm just not sure this is what he meant). But the story's pretty good :-)
Hoho, well done!
