I keep coming back here very so often, as if it would make my wanting to return any better. I don't know why that would be. I would just disappear again and regret it again, I'm sure.

I'm just... really in a bad time. I feel awful. I'm don't think I have the strength of will to show my face here again after letting everyone down.

Sazh is just following wherever his chick likes at this point. Of course, it helps that Saber and Morito are starting to look like Lightning and Hope right now. Sorta.
Sazh had initially thought this situation was weird, given all the different sparks of speech and style among the people scattered here, but as they all kept going, it only got outrageous. People talking about being supreme commanders, trying to figure what snow was, or not even doing anything besides, well, setting their own arms on fire.

But at the same time, people were starting to come up with theories, determining that this place was not any of the worlds each of them came from. Among the many foreign and varied buildings off in the horizon, Sazh could make out what might have been a Sanctum-built business building. It gave Sazh the impression that, hell, this might be a mix-up of several very different worlds; by extension, perhaps this place wasn't actually real, or at least wasn't supposed to be real.

Which left only the million-gil question left: Why were they here? Unfortunately, that wasn't going to be an answer they were going to get anytime soon, by just sitting around and hoping somebody has an answer. Not that there wasn't someone who perfectly knew why these individuals were here, but in Sazh's experience, it usually ended up being the thing that eventually tried to kill you, as well as the thing that you had to go incredibly out of your way to find.

So, in the meantime, Sazh and everyone else was stuck here with no firm answers, and no particular fondness to anyone else. And wasn't that just fan-freaking-tastic?

"Kweh! Kweeeeh!" The chick peeped from its afro nest, trying to get the old pilot's attention. As Sazh was looking up, he witnessed the plucky little chocobo fluttering around the gathering of people, aiming for what looked to be a young boy. The kid was meekly looking around, stammering for some help as any lost, lonely child would. Sazh lightly shrugged again, tilting his head in indifference to the chocobo's attraction in and of itself. Plus, one of the women, clad in some sort of bulky, plated armor, had already moved in to grant her chivalry. Still though, he paced forward in preparation to give whatever aid he could to the boy and the lady. God knows nobody should have to endure being in this situation on their own, as young as that boy was. Misery loves company, after all.

The l'Cie couldn't help but give a clever smile to himself. The mighty, determined soldier girl and the lost, frightened boy. He was getting flashbacks to Lightning and Hope already, back when they had all first met. Maybe this wouldn't be so foreign after all.

"I think we're all a little lost, here," Sazh carefully coaxed the pair's attention, the older man aware of his chocobo chick trying to warm up with the child, letting out gleeful 'kweh's and sweeping around the boy's head with soft, cheerful intent. "If you don't mind the company, we can all be lost together. Heh..." A hand came up to rub at the back of Sazh's neck as he trailed off, craning his sight off to the side to observe the horizon of buildings. Inadvertently, Sazh was exposing his silver-blurred l'Cie brand to the two in the process, which seemed to briefly glow more defined with orange light.

Hearing the male teenager's announcement, the older man turned back to the woman and child, his face still in the neutral guise he had twisted into while trailing off. "Well, how about that? My name's Sazh. Sazh Katzroy."
"Unngh..."

The dark-skinned man groaned a bit in strain as he lifted himself from the cold, frosty ground beneath him. He sat up, rubbed his eyes a bit, and then firstly checked himself. Still had all the equipment and clothes as he last remembered them. No, wait, not the pistols: the intricate Solar Eclipses were just his standard Vega 42s now. Which prompted the idea: was it all a dream? Every battle, every strain, every emotion, just a figment of imagination. Sazh quickly tapped his chest, at an open spot beneath his collarbone, and then glanced down.

The brand was still there. It was different than as he had grown to remember it, but same as it was last: nothing but a blurred mark, bleeding silver from its contour. No, Sazh was still a l'Cie. Orphan, Ragnarok, the war, it had all been real. So then he was in the future, awakened with a new Focus. But he recalled no vision, no glimpse of his destiny. If Sazh had a new Focus, he would've seen a glace of it. So that was out of the question.

"Kweh!"

The older man snapped to attention, catching sight of the ever-faithful chocobo chick coasting down with rapid wing-beats to come in front of his face. Letting out a light chuckle, Sazh held out a hand for the chick to land on. "Of course... heh, of course you're alright," Sazh muttered kindly to the chick, who bounced and flapped and 'kweh'd in appreciative response, before swinging to his backside as if to point out something. He looked up.

"IT'S SUPER HERO TAISEN TIIIIIME-!"

"Jaffa, kree. Jaffa, kree!"

"Where the hell am I?!"

"Does anyone know where we are...?"

"I do not know where we are-"

"Sorry, couldn't tell you."

"I was supposed to be on Earth right now, but I have a feeling we are far from that place."

"... Okay, so what's going on now? If this is a joke, then the humorless idiot who tried it better be prepared to to face the consequences."

"You, Cygnar fool, what kind of wretched place have you brought me to, and why did you bring two Khador brutes with you?"

Sazh found himself looking at the scene before him, and merely ended up sighing through his teeth. All good questions, not likely to get answered anytime soon at the rate thing were going with this hodgepodge of characters. The place they were immediately at, a snowy clearing in a host of unfamiliar trees, got no answers of Sazh himself, either. Maybe this was some faraway place back on Gran Pulse? Hard to tell, especially with all of the radically different company. At least all the people in the last party he was in hailed (mostly) from his general world back on Cocoon, there was so many different styles of people and dialect here that any local comprehension was lost to everyone else.

"Guess our adventures ain't over yet, eh?" Sazh remarked in semi-hushed tones to the chick in his hand, who merely gave a light 'kweh' in acknowledgement. She fluttered back into Sazh's nest of hair as he got up, stretching himself to get all of the strain out of his aging body. Dusting the wet powder off his clothes, Sazh shrugged in conceit, "Welp, guess we oughta pick who we trust more." And Sazh would've started, if he had any idea who any of these people even were.
Well, now looking at everything else here, I seem to have myself a few problems.

Because of how FTL's mechanics work, the Osprey is far different than everyone else's crafts in a few ways, namely far less potential firepower. The Osprey can only ever have 5 weapons at a time (which is still more that every other ship in FTL), whereas these other player ships end up with at least 12 different weapons each, or so. And compared to the size and shielding of many other ships, I may not really have a lot of stopping power, also considering I can only let off good weapon volleys every 15 seconds. Plus, there is not anywhere close to a large comprehensive story in FTL. Among other things, this means I have no real idea what era I'll end up hailing from.

The way I see it, the only real edge I get seems to be from my twin-missile launchers and my shield-piercing main beam. The beam itself doesn't have a high yield, so I wouldn't classify it as a planet-buster weapon, or even entirely a ship-buster. I had intended for my ship to be as purist as I could keep it, but it looks like I'll have to end up breaking the inherent rules set by FTL. Not that it's a complaint on my part, I just see it as necessary to put the Osprey on a scale where it will stand a decent solo chance against something like, say, an Imperial Star Destroyer.

So with that in mind, would opportunities to upgrade the Osprey even beyond its normal scope be acceptable?
If you check the wiki page for the ship's internal layout, you should see that the scale that FTL presents it as in comparison to its personnel. The size I'm going for will end up being just a bit larger: about the size of a real-life tanker ship, give or take.

Also regarding living quarters, cargo rooms, etc., I'll write them in as being on one or two additional decks, if that is necessary.
Ship Name: The Osprey
Ship Class: Federation Osprey-Class Artillery Crusier

Do you mind if I end up putting a semi-full list of specifications for my ship, FTL's Federation Cruiser?
What I'm going to do for this is play a round of FTL up to the final boss, and then list all of my crew, weapons and ship stats from that run, so as to keep my personal construction of the otherwise barebones ship still as purist as possible.
As far as actual antagonists for Sazh, it would have to be PSICOM. That is, unless we can determine some contrived reason for Barthandelus to still exist (since he was destroyed in FFXIII's climax)
*Name: Sazh Katzroy
*Universe: Final Fantasy XIII

*Personality: Although he is getting up in the years, Sazh has a fairly youthful and lively nature about him, being a well-hearted and caring individual. While Sazh may have a tendency to play the jokester (even in life-threatening situations), he is very level-headed and more often than not acts as the voice of reason and common sense. Sazh's sense of justice is also quite strong, allowing him to be as forgiving as he can be relentless to protect those he cares about. Sazh's primary motivation in life is to be a good father for his son, Dajh, to the point of being selfless.

*Skills:
- An adept airship pilot, able to pull off some high-speed maneuvers.
- Highly proficient with dual pistols and rifles, able to fire rapidly and/or accurately with ease. His ultimate skill, Desperado, uses seventeen piercing shots in combination to deal intense damage.

*Powers:
- Highly enhanced resilience, due to being a l'Cie.
- Capable of unleashing various magic abilities:
> Offensive bursts and explosions of fire, lightning, and wind.
> Channeling such elemental magic through his or others' weapons to bolster their power.
> Augmenting the physical traits of himself or an ally, temporarily. Only one buff can remain active on a person at a time.
- Complete command over his Eidolon, Brynnhildr. Once summoned, she can aid Sazh through powerful fire techniques, either in her humanoid form or in her racecar-shaped Gestalt Mode. This can only approximately be used once a day.

*Equipment:
- A pair of Vega 42 handguns, capable of being merged into a strong rifle.
- His Eidolith: A feather-shaped crystal that can be broken to summon Brynnhildr.

*Others: The chocobo chick Sazh bought for Dajh remains in Sazh's possession, roosting within his afro. The chick itself is quite agile, able to fly for a limited time but all the while capable of moving very fast. She seems to sense emotions, and is willing to cheer up Sazh whenever he's feeling grim.
Sure, I'm interested. I might chip in something from the vein of FTL.
