So was America even bombed at all?
Can someone break down the timeline for me? I'm having trouble figuring out when the bombs dropped, when humanity came out of the bunkers, and when we are now?
Was thinking this:

More south and Mexican. :p
Going into America any, Jotunn? Thinking about a west coast claim...
Well I don't plan on leaving until it's dead, so I'm still here.
Well, I'm excited. I've got a whole little arc in mind for Hallam. Dabbling with fel energies might prove... corrupting.

As for Saidan, which sounds suspiciously like Satan (shame on you naughty Blizzard Devs), imagine how paranoid everyone is going to be after that? Anyone could be a Nathrezim implant! Anyone! Like, maybe, Fandral Staghelm? I always suspected he was a Dreadlord, but as it turns out it was just Old God corruption. I was so disappointed, you have no idea.
Now we just need a reason. Guess we'll deal with that when we get there. Conveniently, Gadgetzan is in So. Kalimdor, which makes for a good way to connect to Ahn'Qiraj. Get a mission to go to Gadgetzan, do our thing, Ahn'Qiraj eventually goes down, and guess who the Argent Dawn's closest agents are?
I'm trying to think of something, but it's all so divided. The best I can come up with is the Old God cult that shows up around Cataclysm and even then it's a long ways away and would anyone believe a Dryad capable of joining a cult intent on enslaving all life or whatever evil deed it is that drives the Cult of Twilight?
I rather enjoy the idea of spying too, subterfuge and sabotage galore! It's just a bit unwieldy given the huge focus on race in Warcraft. Entire races have a single ruler, and few split from the main faction comparatively.
Er, how exactly is Stormwind going to work? Asshat or not, Varian will not be inclined to let Horde members in his city, neutral faction or no. Maybe a Blood Elf could get away with it, they might not be Alliance but at least they aren't Horde. And possibly members of the Kaldorei faction given that they don't have a long bloody history of burning Stormwind to the ground... but Rogrelg? Sylvanus? Mmmm, not likely.

Then there's a problem for why go to Stormwind at all? It's not like anyone knows of Onyxia do they? And doesn't Varian have a wife? Or is she dead now? Can't remember when that happens. Maybe recruitment? That gets us into the city at least. Some of us anyway. Do you think we should have two characters each? One Horde-friendly, the other Alliance-friendly? Sure characters like Kalania can get away with both sides probably, maybe not if tensions are rising over logging Ashenvale... but for the most part suspicion and hatred will limit options even if they wear the banner of a neutral faction. Maybe our Blues can get stuck in Stormwind recruiting and our Reds go to Orgimmar? There's a neat little cult conspiracy taking place there if I remember right, rogue Warlocks beneath the city.

But what do I know? Maybe not-an-ass Varian is more like his son will be. Anduin is the best.
