I will create a list with links to all approved character sheets for Yu Yu Hakusho [AU] here. I will also be posting the Character Sheet Template here. Simply reply with your filled out character sheet, and I will either approve it or critique it before adding it (possibly after some editions) to the roster.

Feel free to edit the Character Sheet with BBCode or add whatever you want to it. That is simply the most basic information I want.

YuYu Hakusho (translated as Yu Yu Hakusho, Ghost Files, Ghost Fighter and/or Poltergeist Report) is a Japanese manga
series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. The series tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who is struck by a car while trying to save a child's life. While in the afterlife, he is named the Spirit Detective by Koenma & Botan, and must investigate cases concerning demons and apparitions. Yusuke travels with his friends Kuwabara, Kurama & Hiei, the other protagonists of the story. As the series progresses, the series strays away from a detective story to a more fighting-oriented story.

Yu Yu Hakusho AU (YYHAU) is the fan-fiction roleplay inspired by the original Yu Yu Hakusho, The roleplay will follow the general outline of its predecessor, but will focus on a world where Spirit Detectives are named in sets; specifically three individuals whose souls have match wave cycles. As Yusuke had to die and be named Spirit Detective in the afterlife, so will the protagonists of this alternate universe. The deaths of these soon-to-be Spirit Detectives will be of the same date and time and ultimately they will be escorted by Botan to Koenma where the explanation begins. This alternate universe will have recurring and omitted characters from the original Yu Yu Hakusho as well as altered plot elements so better fit the premise of the roleplay and the new dynamic of being a roleplay instead of a manga.

Theme

The alternate universe of this world takes place in a fictional Japanese city named Kuchikiroka located along a large river that is fed by Mount Kiroka to the East. Kuchikiroka is a town-sized industrial base known previously for its smog problems due to the factories built along it. Production reform has all-but eradicated the thick smog, but the history of the city remains unchanged. The town originally formed to take advantage of the nearby mining operations and easy transportation granted by the Kayaka River, but since grew into a bustling town capable of supporting itself almost a century after its prime of prosperity. Most of the inhabitants of Kuchikiroka are either descendants of the original miners, gang members that use the river for various smuggling operations or white collar criminals that needed an inconspicuous occupation to keep a low-profile.

Kuchikiroka Junior High and High are average Japanese schools with no outstanding profiles or test scores. They are ran by Superintendent Goda and subsequently through the Junior High and High School Principals Fujikawa and Ishida, respectively. It is common knowledge that Goda effectively runs both schools and does so with disregard to the students and strict enforcement of his policies. Rumor is that he worked for a large trade corporation in Tokyo where he laundered enough money for a lifetime and that he only works as a Superintendent to keep cover. He maintains and image to the public as warm, generous man attempting to help the troubled youth of Kuchikiroka when he is anything but. The entire school is split almost down the middle in terms of both grades and behavior. Those with the high test scores often are never hassled with the street life while everyone else is pushed into the hallways where drugs and beatings dealt almost equally. With teachers turning a blind eye to most and keeping a close one on others, the school is anything but fair.

Some notes to remember is that the region is riddled with just as much superstition as it is corruption and pollution. The deaths of hundreds of miners in Mount Kiroka as well as the mysterious and oddly-thick mist that always surrounds its peaks have led to many, many myths and legends being made about it. The Kayaka River is known for turning brilliant hues of red and orange upon sunset, allowing it to turn almost entirely red at certain parts of the year. This has led to it being called the "Red" or "Bloody" river and as it often leads to Mount Kiroka some even believe it becomes an opening to Hell and releases spirits during those times of year. At its most brilliant, the reflection of the river can even cause the fog of Mount Kiroka to glow an ominous crimson color; making it one of the most beautiful and dread events of the year, so much that even school is canceled. These are elements I have created for you to be creative with! If I ever have a problem, I'll point it out and if you truly want something approved, feel free to PM me.
I believe this should be enough to get anyone interested started in character creation. I don't expect everyone to be a juvenile delinquent (although that is an option), so I attempted to create plenty of avenues for conflict. Just because these characters are young doesn't mean they can't have a decent amount of depth. I created everything fictional for a reason, as well. That reason is simple. I don't know a damned thing about the geography of Japan, so I'm not going to pretend that I do. When it comes to geography, I will be making it up as I go along and I do permit anyone else to do the same.

As expected, there are some rules:

1. As Head Moderator, I withhold the right to edit the setting at any time as I see fit or reprimand anyone being toxic to the roleplay.
2. Don't be toxic to my roleplay. I'm attempting to create a great environment for true fans of a long-dead series.
3. The password to the community titanpad is "goldispower" - I just felt the need to make one.

I also reserve the right to use anything created by players within the setting for my own purposes or to further the plot. This includes back-stories, familial histories, items a character may have, etc. Basically, if I think something is really interesting, I want everyone to know that I will make it a bigger part of the story if I feel like it, and that ultimately may lead to some additions or editions. I also would like to remind players that I do not at all mind them embellishing the legacies of their families or what they claimed to do. Something does not have to be true for it to be stated in some cases, and this world will be dealing with the spiritually aware. Make use of it!

Hot damn, someone with an actual opinion and creative outlet.

I'll reply to you twofold:

- My ideas for cases will reflect many of the manga and anime ones, but I will most likely be adding darker, more gruesome twists. The manga itself had far darker tones and more light-hearted ones, many of which were censored by FUNimation or cut from the anime as a whole. I want to incorporate those as well as update the premise to a more recent timeframe, possibly add in some elements you see in more recent Young Adult Novels. I will, of course, be going over the anime and manga again as well as redesigning and re-imaging things such as zombies, artifacts, items, origins and just about everything else you saw in the original. I won't be raping their concepts, but I will be formatting them to be more applicable to a roleplay and to be better literary resources. Anyone may feel free to shoot me ideas for cases or re-designs, or possibly plead for the opposite - to keep something as it was originally. For example, one of my very favorite plot devices and arcs was the artifact arc with the Forlorn Mirror. I will most likely preserve that relic in some form or fashion. Anyone may request the same and I will take it into consideration. They may also come up with ideas as to how to use such items. Or, they may create some items, preferably from something like Shinto, Hindu or Buddhist customs.

- The plot itself is meant to mirror the stages and sagas that the anime went through. To be a parallel. It's not meant to completely emulate the events. For example, Genkai will be a character. The sagas will hopefully go Spirit Detective, Artifact, Rando, Genkai. Now, these sagas have main elements and purposes. Spirit Detectives are when the Spirit Detectives return to life. Artifacts will be based around initial cases leading up to something big involving legendary items. Rando will be the competition to see whom is taught by Genkai. They will share these elements and story progression, but I will not make them predictable or dull. I'm a big fan of George R. R. Martin, so I may just throw in some of his surprising elements and shock factors as well.

Ultimately, Genkai, I do thank you for the more layered input. If you have any suggestions or comments, throw them at me. I'm more than interested and I'm even more interested to hear about your previous RP and how you had it ran.
It is. Every spot as of now is available; even I haven't made a character yet.
Ahhh, but what might you be interested in doing/being? :D
PrinceYuki, were you scrolling through my history or just happen to find this? lol
What would you be interested in, cunfuzzler? There are a lot of potential avenues you could go down for a character, especially if you had a friend you would like to work with.

Introduction...

Yu Yu Hakusho was one of if not my very favorite anime growing up. It had dark twists, demons, more mysticism to it and its fighting always struck me as more intricate than Dragon Ball Z. A little anecdote I will share with anyone reading: as a member of a branched out family, I can recall Saturday evenings grouped around my grandparents' huge (or as I thought it was at the time) television with a half-dozen or more of my first cousins to watch the Saturday night cartoons like Dragon Ball Z, Cowboy Beebop and whatever else was on Toonami. Of all the shows, the one I was always the most excited for was Yu Yu Hakusho, and its appeal was often lost on my cousins in favor of Dragon Ball Z. Even now I can look back and recall them somewhat ostracizing my preference, but it never deterred me from the show.

Now, most likely no one reading this will care about my excerpt there, but I wanted to set the tone of nostalgia and admiration for the roleplay. I have went back and watched the show and I know a lot of its glamour appealed to me as a youth and becoming adolescent, but even still I feel like it was one of the better anime of the generation. I know that to create an Advanced Roleplay that might actually live out the plotline, I will have to make some editions to the original plotline and introduce some new elements. This won't be the same Yu Yu Hakusho I loved. I will make it darker, more updated and less focused on a single protagonist. Anyone interested in this roleplay should understand that as well. Although this roleplay will be entirely inspired by Yu Yu Hakusho and will share many elements, it will not be the same and I can only effectively parallel so many nods to the anime as I can. With that said, thank you for taking the time to read the introduction.

Alternate Universe

We all know the plotline of Yu Yu Hakusho, right? "The series tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who is struck by a car while trying to save a child's life. While in the afterlife, he is named the Spirit Detective by Koenma & Botan, and must investigate cases concerning demons and apparitions. Yusuke travels with his friends Kuwabara, Kurama & Hiei, the other protagonists of the story. As the series progresses, the series strays away from a detective story to a more fighting-oriented story." is a quote right from the Yu Yu Hakusho wiki. When I first recall watching Yu Yu Hakusho, I found the plotline a little more hard-hitting than some of the other anime on Toonami at the time (except for Cowboy Beebop, which honestly went over my head at the time.) Maybe it was because I could easily retate to a coming-of-age delinquent or maybe it was aimed to be a little darker. Either way, I will make an attempt to make this roleplay parallel the original plotpoints of the show, as I saw them. However, before I get to outlining the general plot setup, I want to explain the character setup I have in mind.

First and foremost, canon characters such as Koenma and Botan will exist and will be played by me. However, one big difference is that there will be new Spirit items and a total of three Spirit Detectives. Each Spirit Detective should essentially have to prove themselves just as Yusuke did, however I will leave such open to interpretation to all of the creative minds interested in this roleplay. What I will say is that unless one is a tad more creative than expected, your characters will have to die. Also, the original anime took place in Sarayashiki Junior High - a Japanese junior high school. I will allow those interested in the roleplay to choose if we make a more Americanized high school (or junior high school) for the characters, or if we stick to the original script on this one. I want everyone involved to be knowledgeable and comfortable with the setting in the beginning. These are just some general things I have thought out. Of course, the group wasn't just Yusuke; Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama were also integral characters, and I will allow such for anyone whom wishes to create characters to join the team as a non-Spirit Detective or if a Spirit Detective spot is not available.

If we look at the anime as a Saga, the first is the Spirit Detective Saga. Here, Yusuke is introduced as well as most of the original secondary characters such as Kuwabara and Keiko. This will be the same for the three characters destined to be Spirit Detectives. As discussed previously, circumstances may be different for each character and may ultimately be a complete contradiction of Yusuke Urameshi, and that is fine. The point is that for whatever reason, they most be Spiritually Aware and given the opportunity to become Spirit Detectives just like Yusuke. In this sense, the plot will be more of an emotional thriller and be more based around creative writing. Character development, introducing the stronger elements of each individual and since every one of these characters should exist in the same place, they may even have overlapping origins. "While in the anime Yusuke only accomplishes two good deeds, he does a lot more in the manga due to the timeline of events being more stretched out in the manga. This includes helping a boy named Shouta get over his dog's death, helping a girl who had died get over her obsession with a boy (who didn't really care for her) so she can move on, and also being temporarily revived to keep his body fresh so it won't die out. The last deed inolves not allowing Keiko to know about this..." is a prime example of what I will be looking for in this Saga, at least until the spirit Beast hatches from the egg that will be given by Koenma. Lastly, in the anime, the only way to be resurrected is to be kissed by someone very close to them. This will remain true for the roleplay.
Smile Bomb, bitches

That's just about it. I'm looking for 3-6 characters initially. 3 Spirit Detectives and at least one additional character to assist each Spirit Detective and ultimately become integral plot characters themselves. So, essentially, I'm looking for 3 Yusuke Archetypes and 3 Kuwabara/Keiko archetypes. These do not have to be best friends or romances. They just need to be spiritually aware and somehow assist the 3 Spirit Detectives in returning to their bodies. If I can't get more players, chances are I will set up a system so that one Spirit Detective finishes first with assistance, then goes on to help the others and acts as senior Spirit Detective. If I can't even get enough for 3 Spirit Detectives, I will slim down to 2, but I do not want just one.

I have all intents on taking the roleplay through each saga and ending it in the Makai Saga. This roleplay will be to tell a story; a story that I have and I hope others have wished they could be part of since it first came out. That is the type of player I am looking for. Someone who will step into the roleplay knowing it will have an end and doing their absolute best to give it the greatest ending it can have.
Oh look! Another Prince~
The entire introduction I had is now pointless due to the loss of Bunnita. I've tried to sit down and write others, but the fact that her character and Nikhil will have to be either wrote for in absence or retconned is killing my desire to reply here. Every single post I write seems dull and unenthusiastic due to the foundation I meant for Nick being removed from the roleplay, and with it no desire to create a new introduction path.
