My character is reasonable and not entirely suicidal, but his general attitude can basically be chalked up to a very odd personality quirk with its ups and downs.

Is he fertile?

Yes. But the thing about him is that he's, er...principled. Almost pathologically so. He holds onto many standards of chivalry and 'morality' rendered somewhat obsolete in this world..particularly towards women. For example, he's a bit reluctant to hit a girl. He still holds doors open for women, as well.

In truth, his continued virginity is not something most people in this world would admire.

Perhaps. Even some of that 50% might develop a closer relationship with another women just to spend time with and help close the void. There may be a term for this type of friend, who's like an opposite of a friend with benefits. A person similar to a married couple but without benefits. Then the other percentage of the population just skip all of that and just go all out in the getting married part. After all, it would most certainly be made legal in a lot of places.

In some places where homosexual marriage is legal, straight people of the same gender will marry for non-romantic reasons. There'd quite probably be a lot of that going on in this world.

I'd assume the term might be something like 'domestic partner'? Maybe 'Housemate'?

The teasing, perhaps, but he'd be a very deadly foe. Maybe he can secretly follow us to Australia...although I don't know why he'd go through all the trouble. Maybe because of the men, he's tasked to kidnap them for the benefit of his nation.

In Tommy's defense; he's been in countries that would have taken him on sight just for being a male (which did end up happening). He doesn't enjoy cross dressing, it's just a skill that he's reluctantly learned to appreciate. Since it let's him move around unmolested (pun very much intended).
