Bump.
Dinos in a fantasy setting are welcome in my book, though dinos are welcome in nearly every setting in my book. HOWEVER, whenever you use dinos, you should do your research. Not just what you saw in Jurrassic Park.
Name: Aaron Baker
Pic: ((I'll find one in a few moments))
Ranger suit: Black
Weapons: Ranger Blaster Rifle
Love interest: None yet
Personality: Introspective, cool headed, logical, callous.
Bio: He grew up in the country, and then moved into town a few years ago. He's a bit outdoorsy, and enjoys activities like hunting and fishing. He's strong, but he doesn't have a ton of finesse in hand-to-hand combat, and is ultimately more effective at range. Still, like the other rangers, he's a force to be reckoned with.
Hale stood in the halls, wearing a grey uniform and a white helmet with the words "MP" painted on it in block letters. A ballistic shield was held in his left hand, his right hand placed on his gun. He was pacing rapidly. He felt as though Azrael himself stood in this room.
He quickly breathed out once he realized his lungs had frozen in fear.

He shakes his head and snaps out of it. He had feared for his life before, but never like this. Before he was just a beat cop, throwing ladies into the brig who had too much to drink. But this was not crime. It was war. And he had the intention of being on the ground when the enemy attacked.

He sat and prayed, not inaudibly, but in a whisper. "LORD, make my aim be true, and my hand quicker than those that would seek to destroy me. Grant us victory over those that would seek to do us harm. And if today is the day you call me home, let me die in empty brass."

He offered a fake ID to Sienna. It might not fool everybody, but he figured it'd be worth a shot. He says "Madame. I think I'll need to be on the ground today. Here's my credentials. It lets me join combat during situations...like this one." The ID looked authentic and official, at least at first glance. It had olive branches on it, and a forged signature. He had made sure not to skimp on anything.
Ooooh, we're ready! I'll make my starting post!

Oh, yeah, I just meant Curtis calling them 'merits' as in badges you get from the boy scouts as it fit the theme of old man yelling at kids who have it easier now'a'days :p

You know, come to think of, I think I'll have it so my character used to be in Awanas and a Boy Scout program (or whatever the equivalent is in this boyless world. Perhaps they just combined them with the girl scouts, making it 'the scouts').
Provo polices the military. Gendarmerie is a military group that polices civilians (Martial Law, basically)
So my character would be a provo, making sure allied soldiers obey the law.

You mentioned that he doesn't go on the frontlines. I was guiding my question by that. I never mentioned he couldn't fight, just asked how he had gotten such merits (badges). Also, what exactly is the military police he is in? Gendarmeries, provosts, National Guards? Because believe it or not, that is what defines the kind of training and experience your character has in combat.

Oh, I was thinking he'd be a provost.
As for medals, I misunderstood what Witty was saying. I didn't intend for him to /necessarily/ have a lot of badges.

Why does he have so many merits? I thought he wasn't even allowed to do much fighting xD

His 'merits' (which got him a role in the army), as I intended, have more to do with the police aspect of being an MP than the military one. Not that he /can't/ fight or that he doesn't /want/ to.

I can see it now, Curtis meets Hale for the first time, notices all his merits and spends the next two hours with "In my day we never had no fancy shields! We marched uphill both ways up the snow!" xP

That'd be the best.
