RWBY: Beacon's "Finest"

Lance was caught off guard by the sudden intrusion of an unspecified contestant. Lance was starting to fall but wasn't worried, rather watching the show not far from his body. Someone using an Ice element scattered his coins and followed up with a spike through each. Lance sighed and felt the temperature drop a little close to where he was while he started really falling towards the ground.

"I was hoping I could get those back but that is a bummer. Whoever did that needs to not be so rude." Lance had his weapon back to its original sword form, blade connected to hilt. He was falling head first and looked down to see the ground was coming faster than he had expected.

"Guess I should have put more height on that." Lance disconnected the two pieces of his sword once again and let it fall on its own to a certain length. When it got to where he wanted it, he threw his arm in a circle so the blade would mirror his movement and reach the black structure he used to propel himself upwards to start with. It hooked easily and he pushed another button, pulling himself towards the arcs. He basically swung around the arc and slid to a halt with is back against the pillar. He pulled his blade back towards him, connecting the two and walking to retrieve his other blade.

"I wonder where those coins will land. I lost track of them after falling. Oh well, free money for someone, if it is still usable."

Lance watched from afar, the show unfolding right off the airship, Just getting to Beacon and it was already getting loud. A random girl barreled out of the ship like she was going to have a heart attack, landing on the ground as if it were paradise. Interesting to see and extremely unexpected, a curious little girl indeed. Not bad looking either but then again, a few of the girls so far weren't too bad. That was not on Lance's list of top things to see or do at Beacon. What pulled Lance's attention next was the familiar banging of gunshots and Lance took a random guess at who it was. it didn't surprise him at all that his guess was right: It was the boy who shot his gun in the ship, a dangerous move but everything turned out fine. Then a familiar voice was heard and a situation unfolded, one that was expected after the encounter of the two students on the ship.

'A show of skill, hm? Quite a way to start off in the Academy.' Lance smiled as he watched the show, starting with the boy who shot a few coins like he did before with impressive skill. Not any higher than before but a few were shot by a pistol rather than his sniper rifle, a rather impressive show of skill. Then the girl came up and bullied another student that was just a simple spectator for his guy and shown her skill as well. Like the boy, a coin was re-used but this time at a higher altitude but not quite high enough to really show something special. They got no more than ten feet or so above the average height of a person. Lance knew of a way to spice things up, make this a real show worth seeing. With a smile still plastered on his face and his ears and tail revealed so they didn't get in the way, Lance walked up to the two students who were battling each other for attention at this point.

"Hey, good to see you two again. Making a ruckus like before, it seems. If you are going to show something that is going to prove anything, I have a challenge." Lance pulled out four of his own coins from his pocket, spare change he had in case he needed something but this seemed like a good time to use it since money was getting thrown around anyhow.

"You two have to keep those pistols and shoot two of these each. Don't get greedy, so just keep it two each. This will be from a much higher height, though. So, whoever can be the most flashy can have bragging rights. I am the judge, though, so make it look good while I am up there." The last sentence was a little odd since no one could guess what exactly Lance meant and how he was going to get higher than what was shown so far.

Lance pocketed the change and took off his blades from his back except keeping one in his hand. The other blade fell with a rather loud thud to the ground. Lance pointed his blade towards the main entrance of Beacon, the highest spot not including the school itself. There were two black structures on the end of the arcs that Lance could use. He shot his blade from the handle and it quickly made it up to the position and with a flick of Lance's finger, pulled the blade back without moving his arm and it latched onto the black structure. It was not too far up, maybe twenty feet but it would be Lance's launch location. With another flick of his finger, Lance was pulled in seconds to the black part of the arc and was vaulted into the air, adding another twenty feet or so. Lance pulled the change out of his pocket, throwing it out and almost floating in position, expecting the two to start shooting at any second.

This is the picture I took the location from. The black structures are the ones that are before the school itself but after the second set of lamps. Guessing on the height, too.

Name: Lance Masters

Gender: Male

Weight: 158 lbs.

Height: 5’ 10”

Race: Faunas

Appearance: Character Appearance. Take away the tattoo’s, his ears are hidden in his hair, and his tail is around his waist as a belt.

Personality: Lance is, on the surface, more of a neutral looking person. He isn’t the most social and outgoing person but he also isn’t depressing or anti-social. Lance will make a first impression that won’t let a person pinpoint exactly what Lance is, or who he is with and against. Until he says it himself, Lance will keep his opinions to himself. He will try to figure other people out before they can figure him out, making it a bit of an indirect competition with himself and everyone else.
While fighting, Lance is extremely focused and will keep himself protected but will not go out of his way to keep his teammates safe unless they can’t keep themselves safe. He will try to get to them first but not if it endangers himself, normally making a quick plan that could be used to help himself as well as the other people on his team.

History: Lance knew his parents for only the first half or so of his life. His father was a mighty Faunas warrior while his mother was a perfect stay-at-home mom. The two were the best parents one could ask for but they had their dark secrets. His father had broken a pact with a faunas organization that had been long since been disbanded after the events. Lance was out when this happened, just getting his blades that were made for him. When Lance came back, he found a bloody battlefield. Lance lost both of his parents and was given to an orphanage, who let a nasty family adopt him. They were nowhere near as nice as his true parents and would rather ignore him than give him any attention. He has matured well before he should have because of this but he has not yet gave up. The only thing he still had from his deceased parents were his blades and he still tries to be happy when he can, not thinking his parents would want him to be depressed at their passing. Lance, in a way, cheated his current parents into letting him into Beacon Academy and soon enough, he was off with no intention of going back and having only his weapons and a few other small items.

Weapon: Basic look of my weapon with a few changes.
Changes: Blade is shortened to only about 4 feet/Handle is large enough to be held with a single hand.
Lance carries two of these weapons on his back that are carried in a sheath that mirrors an ‘L’ shape, the handles facing upwards and the other to Lance’s right. They are a tad hard to carry around tight places, so the leather sheath carrying his blades can be moved into a ‘V’ shape as well. The sheath is a toughened leather on the outside and is metal plated on the inside so the blade doesn’t puncture the sheath. It has stud buttons running the length of it so when Lance needs his blades, he pull the studs apart and the blades can fall out so Lance can grab them.
These blades were specifically made for Lance, made by his father before he passed away. They may look heavy but they have a special sensor that makes them light as any single handed weapon whenever Lance’s hand has contact with the handle. If anybody else were to try and lift them, they would be the same weight as if they were normal, which would mean over 100 pounds of metal and mechanics.
Lance had the blades made so that instead of having them transform into guns, their functionality is that they shoo the blade outwards when a button is pressed. There are special ‘buttons’ on the handles that Lance can use with just three to four fingers. They shoot the blade outwards, retract the blade, tighten the strings in the weapon, as well as being able to put sag on the wire so the blade will fall to the ground.
Inside the weapon itself is hundreds of feet of highly twined tension wire. It is virtually unbreakable, though it is possible, as well as gears that control the way the blade moves. There are three lengths of wire that are almost unnoticeable but the problem is that is it possible for the wires to cut teammates if they get too close and Lance makes the blade move.
Lance uses his blades to swing around the battlefield, getting around enemies or making escapes. He can also use the blades to move around places that aren’t battlefields, which is how he gets to the high places he loves to sit at.

Semblance: Accuracy- Lance’s use of his weapons has increased his accuracy to just shy of a perfect shot. Whether the target is close or far away, Lance is able to hit his target from any distance away with almost perfect accuracy with his weapons. He will not have the same accuracy with other weapons.

Abilities: Rivalry and Intimidate

Concept: Unseen Fighter: Lixy has trained himself to sneak past even the most alert of Pokemon. He is quick to start a fight with a preemptive strike to end it quickly. He can easily keep himself safe alone and can quickly move himself into a good offensive position or escape and conceal himself if he has to get hidden. He is loyal to his team, staying with them unless the situation becomes too hard to handle.

Trouble: Headstrong Escapist: Lixy will not think before jumping into a fight, doing is best to get a quick first strike. If he feels like he will lose a battle and get himself badly hurt, Lixy will leave without thinking things over or trying to find ways to turn it around. Lixy relies on a quick attack at the start to weaken the enemy enough to win but if it doesn’t work out, Lixy can over-react and get too anxious and unpredicatable. Lixy also tends to not think about the most strategic way to get a job done, jumping the gun with from the shadows before a plan can be formed.

Pretty much, yeah. That is what I would envision would start it. Lance will overhear it and suggest a different way to test their skills but that will only be revealed if it happens.

I just thought of a little way to make a bit of mischief and give Jurano and Enyo a sort of test to see which is better. It can't happen unless it is already set up, though before hand.

Lance smiled and waved at the boy with the gun as he walked away. He heard the girl from before start to lecture him before she was interrupted by another student with an interesting weapon. Something like an element gauntlet which was unusual and very imaginative. The other students still seemed so quiet. Other than the few, including Lance himself, who were making any sort of scene were up and about. A few seconds later, though, and the crowd dissipated as the kids went different ways. Lance shrugged and smiled big, hearing that they were near the Academy. Lance wasn't claustrophobic but he wasn't a fan of being stuck on a ship much longer. He wanted to see what other students were around.

"It is about time." Lance lifted his large blade with ease, pulling the magnetized buttons on his sheath out so the blade slid right in place and was secured. Lance could feel his tail unravel itself from his waist and move, not enjoying to be twisted all day. Even it needed some wiggle room every now and then.

Still, it would be interesting to see that happen as a team. It would be so dysfunctional.
