Rennac looked to the rather simple lizard and figured he should explain a bit more simply. "Locked his armor in place in case he's hurt badly. Its better not to move him too much if he's really badly hurt. We are doing this just in case." He was hoping the simple explanation would do, not wanting to explain how he basically hacked their captain's armor to initiate the armor lock so they could move him safely.
Rennac nodded and looked at Varus's body, a quick idea coming to mind. He jacked his wrist computer into a port on the armor, accessing the systems and initiating a temporary armor lock. The plates on Varus's head, neck, and back all locked on place to keep them from moving. "There. A triggered armor lock will stabilize the head and back. If he does have a head or neck injury we wont have to worry about it while moving him at least." He moved to help pick up Varus's body, getting one of the captain's arms around his neck to help support the commander up until Ryder took over.
It wouldn't be successful, but he's weighing the two options. He sees trying to break through the jamming and getting Teeth to walk them through the medical procedures needed as a better option than trying to fix up Varus themselves when they have almost zero training or experience beyond slapping a bandage on a gunshot wound. Then again this is coming from a guy who has had basic lifeguard training so I get a tad paranoid about head and spinal injuries given I've had my fair share of having to fish those people out of the pool in one piece.
Rennac stopped building the beacon and looked back at Jack, taking another glance to the limp arm. He pondered the idea for a moment before heaving s sigh. "You're right. Not too likely they already took out the jammer or whatever the heck it was. All the same we need to be careful. We can patch up gun shot wounds but we dont know squat about head or even spinal injuries. Move him the wrong way and we could end up killing him ourselves if his condition is bad enough." He remembered that particularl tidbit from trying to carry out a guy who was shot in the spine. With how they handled him it ended up going from quadriplegic to a corpse all because they let his head turn the wrong way while his neck was damaged.
Rennac came over as soon as Ryder made a sound to the effect that they found the captain, seeing the arm and nodding. Taking his cue he ran like hell, to hell with stealth as he sacrificed every hint of subtlety for speed. Would Ryder be able to outrun him if the lizard was on all fours? Absolutely. However he knew the hulking lizard would be needed to get the rest of the debris off of the captain. It would take Rennac a decent length of time to get the supplies and run back with as much as he could carry but he did so as quickly as he could. His speed was considerably better than most technicians though he was hardly at Jack's or Ryder's level. Once he got to the hill he slid down, placing the pack full of medical supplies and setting it down. "Here'e everything. I know it's a long shot but we need someone with medical expertise at least telling us what to do. I'll see if I can at least get enough of a signal to reach the Dawn." Taking a few new pieces from the wreck to use for the antennae he began to work on the makeshift beacon, praying that the others managed to find the jammer or whatever it was so they could get Teeth on the line to advise them on how to patch up Varus if they even could.
Rennac ran toward the commotion from Jack, smiling to himself that they finally got some leeway. He ran and leaped onto the hill's decline, this time measuring it up and sliding down till he was at the spot Jack indicated. Of course, Ryder was already rending at the metal, the wolfen knowing to keep his distance if he didn't want to get impaled by a thrown piece of ship hull or given an accidental metallic backhand. Instead he turned to Jack who looked quite winded. "Jack, you alright? Cant imagine a fall like that would knock THIS much out of you." He smirked in his helmet and started to lend a hand with lifting the metal from the side. If nothing else it might take some pressure off of Varus inside till Ryder could rend the metal out of the way between the ship's hull and Varus.
Esayo, Rennac never claimed to be the only wetwork agent for the Alliance, just one of the very few who did both the technological aspect and the actual killing. If anyone wants to confirm something with my posts I am more than happy to get questions and such
Rennac scanned through each piece of debris that he found on the ground, looking at the grass leading away for any disturbance to indicate if Varus had gotten up and ran somewhere. When Jack spoke up it did at least catch him by surprise. "Worked in Black Ops for the last half of my career before the whole virus thing came up. After being asked to make viruses for finding dissidents and rebels before paying a rather unfriendly visit to their entire families they considered me an expert in the field. Not to mention being trusted to keep my trap shut after being the equivalent of one of the Alliance's wetwork operatives for years. The Dawn was one of the ships that were listed to get the first upgrade. I figured it was time I get out of the wetwork business for the Alliance." The wolfen was rather bitter when he spoke but none of it was toward Jackdaw. It was all focused on those who had him kill off entire families just because they were related to some nutjob or another, or worse some political opponent. His melancholy was cut off by that weird ass whale call of a roar from Ryder. Facepalming he turned back to look at the lizard. "Keep it down, if Varus is injured having LESS attention would mean we could get him out of her more safely." He knew Jackdaw would be pissed, mentally preparing for more strife within the group.
Rennac chuckled at the comparison, looking ahead. "Heh. Guess when you spend most of your time reading tech manuals to stay up to date on hacking, you sometimes end up talking like one. I'll lend you one for some armor augments once we get back from this." It was not so much the offer of the manual he wanted to convey, but the fact that they WOULD get out of this alive. He knew sometimes in a stressful situation like this it was best to help keep their spirits up and reassure them. Still, it would let them cover the crash zone from the best angles while also allowing them to check and see if Varus had already gotten up and left the area.
