Nobuna took Ty's hand, his paw being swallowed by the man's thin hands.
"Good boy, Ty." He nodded. "Don't make me regret this."
"You won't. You have my word."
"Don't make me laugh, kid."
As Raven left, Nobuna turned his attention back to Tyranus.
"So you're here for more work, eh?"
"That's the hope," Ty replied. "I got bills to bay too."
Nobuna scoffed. "Like you ever pay yer bills anyway."
"Eh. That's a matter of perspective."
"Yeah, yeah. Well lucky for you, you pay my bills and I got some cargo in Quealt that I need moved to Coal on the down low. Like REAL down low."
"Really, Nob? You got me doing cargo runs?"
"I'm not done yet. Y'see I got the cargo there, but while it was there, it was seized by the local fuzz. I need someone with a fast ship to get in, grab the stuff and get it to my paying customer."
"That's more my speed, Nob." Ty grinned.
"Yeah. You got a fast ship, but remember, you gotta do this on the down low. The more subtle, the better. Hell, if you can get out of there without anyone knowing, I'll throw in a nice bonus."
"I like the sounds of that," Ty said. "How much are we talking?"
"Sixty big ones for getting the cargo and another two if you pull off the subtlety."
Ty stuck out a hand to Nobuna. "You got yourself a deal, Nob."
Nobuna ruffled his floppy ears and shook his head.
"Nope. Say no more, kid. Whatever business you got with Kaiser, it ain't mine." He gestured to a door on the far end of the room. "She's through there. We just got through settling some of our own dealings."
"So who's yer friend, Raven?" Nobuna asked, leading them down a metal hallway drenched in harsh, electric light towards a large back room. The room hung heavy with an exotic, heady smoke and had numerous cushions strewn through the corners.
"How polite of you." Ty smiled, rapping quickly on the door. After a moment, a small hatch slid open at roughly his hip level. Three wide, yellow eyes stared up at Ty.
"Hey, Nobuna." He smiled. "How're you doing yah runty little bastard."
"Been better." A gruff, squeaky voice replied. "I'm guessing you're here for work, huh. Who's your friend? You convince another rube to join up with you?"
Ty chuckled. "If only. Having this guy on me team would be a hell of a thing. But nah, he's here looking for a friend."
"Well we got a couple pretty nasty folks kicking round here. Come on in."
The hatch closed and Ty smiled to Raven. A moment later the door creaked open revealing a stumpy, hairy biped with a face like a squished pug. He was wearing light leather clothes with many pockets.
"Come on in, you lot." Nobuna gestured.
"Kaiser?" Ty scoffed. "Fuck no. She's a bit too crazy even for us. We're here to see Nobuna, the head honcho around here. He's a good guy to get jobs from."
Yebbok quickly stepped in front of Ty, bright blue crystalline spear crackling to life with an unknown energy. Ty waved him down and smiled at Raven.
"Heya, Raven. We could ask you the same thing. You don't have a hit out on our pal, huh? That'd really put a kink in our work."
Tyranus docked the Vespera on the far side of the Kraow prefecture docks and, leaving Moses to rest, took Yebbok out with him, the bug's great, gleaming armour standing out even among the strange inhabitants. He headed for his typical job man, Kraow Nobuna. Kraow was a surprisingly small Geldoran and the current commissioner of the prefecture. He strolled through the streets like they were his home. He ducked through the back alleys, Yebbok ducking under signs as they approached room 74 of the Ephis.
Halfway across the galaxy Tyranus had finally broken out of the closet by prying the door open with a broom. After a brief reprimanding of Dana, who had muted him anyway, he returned to the bridge. Eager to pick up new work, he punched in the current coordinates of Nowhere and cherged the jump drive, leaping through the cosmos to the amoral orb.
"Alright, alright." She muttered, several of arms, serving another customer. "Kraow prefecture, block Ephis, room 74. That's the last place I heard she's been. But you didn't hear it from me."
