It might seem a little to demi-god like and if that's the case, I got a back up. But Mai are the decendants of an ancient and sacred race. Not completely human, not completely god, they are the descendants of the Egyptian cat-goddess Bastet, the most powerful of all the goddesses. So they just have cat like powers.
