The sun shone brightly, glaringly so actually, down on the girl standing on the pavement outside of the highly ornate gate leading to the prestigious, promising institute. Raising her right-hand up to shield her eyes from the brilliant rays, Reina gazed in awe at the extensive campus that lay before her. It was somewhat hard to make out the details of the main buildings and surrounding area, as it seemed that the main gate to the campus was situated at an unbelievable distance from them. Sighing, Reina thought to herself, Hahaha, it’s almost as if they wanted to make it hard to students to sneak off campus, or something...Well, on the brightside Reina, at least you weren’t the one who had to carry all 6 of those heavy bags across that long field…..Should I have tipped the guard people…??? Shaking away her silly thoughts, Reina picked up her last bag, a backpack, off the ground with her clammy hands and slung it over her left shoulder.

Upon arrival, Reina had presented her acceptance letter to the guards that had stood at the gate. Soon after, her luggage had been swiftly confiscated in order to be transported to her dorm room, wherever that was supposed to be. However, there was one bag that Reina had requested to carry herself. After a showdown of inquisitive stares and much defiance, the guard in charge of transporting Reina’s luggage acquiesced, allowing the girl to carry the one bag on the condition that the contents were examined first. The backpack held simplistic items, such as all of the usual, essential school supplies typically carried by studious high school students, a handful of half-eaten snacks, an empty reusable water bottle, and a ball of yarn with two silver knitting needles jutting out of the tightly wound sphere. Having cleared the backpack, the guard proceeded to gather up the 6 heavy articles of luggage with just his two arms, amazingly enough, and had entered through the gate while Reina’s attention had been successfully diverted to the remaining guard. The remaining guard went on to explain that he would be the one to guide the “new transferee” to her assigned teacher’s office. The guard then proceeded to enter the gate as two new guards stepped out, replacing the ones that had welcomed the “new transferee”.

Hurrying along, Reina realized that it would probably be in her best interest to not lose her guide on her first day of school; she was already late as is. The short-haired brunette took a deep breath, slipped her right arm through the other strap, and quickly strode through the ornate gate onto the campus.

Reina was immediately blinded. Flinching from the glare produced by brief, sudden change from shade to light again, Reina was forced to raise her right hand once more to shield her eyes. Maybe I should have thought about wearing my sunglasses today, Reina thought to herself; however, in a matter of seconds, her eyes readjusted to the sunlight. The scenery that Reina was met with, though, stunned her. Rubbing her eyes and blinking profusely, Reina paused in her tracks and gazed around her in utter astonishment. She could have sworn that she had just passed through the main gates of the institute, yet somehow she had already managed to cross the extensive field and was now standing in front of the school’s main building.

“You have plenty of time to ‘ooo’ and ‘aaah’ later. Since you are already quite late, 'Miss Transferee', I would suggest you quit your lollygagging and focus on not falling behind. I have no obligation to wait for you if you decide that you would rather lose yourself in your own thoughts on the first day,” the guard nagged as he continued walking, unfazed or, perhaps, unaffected by the strange lapse in time, distance, and/or memory. The disdain in his voice was acidic.

“U-uh…..b-but uh….how?” Reina stuttered as she hastily glanced behind her in the direction that she had just come from and back at the receding figure of her guide. The dazed and confused girl hesitated for a moment, almost as if she were debating running back across the field towards the gate in order to refresh her memories, before she scurried after her impatient guide. The short tour was filled with silence and only lasted until they reached a door. The guide knocked on the door before opening it and stepping aside. He then motioned with a tilt of his head for Reina to enter. Biting her lower lip, Reina stole one last glance at the guide-guard’s stern expression before moving into the room.

CLACK!

The door closed noisily behind the short-haired brunette. Exhaling slowly, Reina steeled herself for what was to come. So far, the staff at this school seemed to be pretty uptight, which was probably to be expected from such a prestigious institute that had hailed many exemplary graduates. Now faced with a black-haired woman wearing rectangular glasses frames and a scrutinizing expression that sat at the desk in the back center of the room , Reina attempted to make a good first impression. She was quickly shot down, though. Having only begun to open her mouth to introduce herself, Reina was abruptly cut off by the woman sitting behind the desk.

“Don’t bother,” the woman stated coldly as she waved her hand in a dismissive manner, “I already know who you are. Reina Reeves, age 16, normal history with a bit of self-confidence problem…” The woman trailed off at the end of the mocking statement as she peeked up above the brim of her rectangular frames as if confirming her analysis. Seeing the mystified and embarrassed expression that she was looking for on her student's face, the woman continued. “I am Ms. Hawkins. You were placed in Class 1, and therefore I will be your homeroom teacher….Anyhow, you are inexcusably late. Despite your approved waiver, you missed a very important...entrance exam. Sadly, you are unable to make up the examination portion, but before you are dismissed from this office, you are required to write on this slip of paper a single word. This word will define how you will be fighting for the rest of the school year. It will be what you will depend on, and the only thing you can depend on during your stay here. And most importantly, and I don't know why some teachers don't tell you this, but this word will be your supernatural power, your ability. I recommend nouns and verbs, and to lean away from the more abstract of words.” Ms. Hawkins then pushed a square slip of paper across her desk along with a pen towards Reina. The short-haired brunette stepped forward and took up the slip of paper and pen. “Once you’ve decided on a word and written it down, hold it in your hand and say it aloud”

Nodding, Reina took the slip of paper and sat down in one of the not-so-comfortable chairs situated in front of the woman’s desk. The young girl shrugged off her backpack and fidgeted awkwardly as she tried to get comfortable. A word...that I’ll use to fight…? What does that even mean? I mean, like I know what the words mean, but AUGH this makes no flipping sense. Am I just going crazy? Did the stress finally get to me again? Or maybe all of that monotonous driving got to my head? Or am I just dreaming? Because fighting, the application and school site never mentioned anything about that...Maybe I really am not ready to push myself again. Maybe mom and dad were right, maybe I should have just stuck with my home school...Augh, I need my needle and thread...all I need is my thread...yes, just my thread…

Calming down, Reina elegantly scrawled out the simple word, ‘Thread’. Peering up, Reina noticed the woman’s gaze still fell upon her. The woman looked like she was waiting patiently to see what this late transferee had come up with. Feeling a bit pressured, Reina shifted uncomfortably in her seat and straightened her back. She cleared her throat before she spoke her word in a clear voice. A bit confused about the whole process, Reina gasped in bewilderment as the paper in her left hand shriveled into nothing and a sharp, itching pain in the palm of her left hand replaced it. The girl immediately stood up and screamed. A single word etched itself into her skin, ‘Thread’. Grasping her inflicted hand, Reina flailed it around wildly, screaming all the while.

“What did you do to me?!” Reina wailed. Her eyes were filled with fear as she gazed upon the woman in front of her who had ordered her to carry out the strange ritual.

“I did nothing. This is simply your welcoming ceremony. Skyline is not your typical school. In order to survive for one year, you have been gifted with one ability of your choice. Based on your word selection and natural ability to wield it, you may or may not live till graduation day. You should consider yourself lucky, you missed the first trial day. However, if you were present, you would have come to realize the true blessing of being able to choose and use a word.

Anyway, enough of you, I have no further business to discuss with you. Take this and be on your way. Your class assignment, dorm information, key, etc. are all inside.” Ms. Hawkins proceeded to thrust a manilla envelope at Reina and indiscreetly hinted at the girl to get out of her office. Receiving the message loud and clear, Reina made her way towards the office’s one and only door.

“Oh and one more thing,” Ms. Hawkins called out just as Reina placed her hand on the door knob. “Make sure you have a clear image in your mind of what you want your word to do when you go to use it. It would be terribly unfortunate if you were to meet your end due to your inability to use your word.” With an amused smirk, the austere, black-haired woman with rectangular dismissed the disconcerted new student.

Exiting Ms. Hawkin’s office, Reina closed the door carefully behind her and stepped to the right of the door. She leaned against the cool wall and let her knees buckle under her body weight. Collapsing to the floor, Reina rested her head against the wall behind her and shifted her body so that she could bring her knees up to her chest. She clasped the newly acquired packet in one hand and her backpack in her other as she wrapped her arms around her knees. It had been a long, long day. The excitement from the morning was completely gone now. Reina had been so elated to be able to attend such a prestigious school, one that could contend with the achievements of her elder sister; however, everything was a mess now. This school was weird. Its students were expected to fight. Fight what exactly? The girl did not know, nor really care to question it at the moment. She honestly didn’t want to know the answer either. Not to mention, the strange paper to tattoo ritual thing that happen. It was like magic, or some queer voodoo something. It was all just too much for poor Reina to comprehend in one sitting. So Reina just sat there outside of Ms. Hawkin’s office for a good 30~ish minutes or so, staring at the wall on the other side of the hallway, stupefied by all of the information that was just dumped on her. What kind of mess had she just gotten herself into?

Bzzt! Bzzt! Bzzt! Bzz-Thud!

The ugly cacophony produced by the dutiful, bright red alarm clock was abruptly cut short by the swift swat of a hand. However, an unmeasurable amount of force was placed behind that hand to slap either the snooze or off button, Reina was too exhausted to care or tell, and sent the poor alarm clock, which had been precariously sitting on the edge of the bleak, wooden nightstand, tumbling down to the carpeted floor with a soft thud. Flinching slightly, Reina grimaced and retracted her right arm as she rolled over, away from the nightstand and the fallen clock. Still having not opened her eyes, the drowsy, young girl begged for sleep to take her once more, to whisk her away to the lovely land of dreams for at least another hour...hour and a half. Sleep did not answer her beck and call, though. The poor girl lay awake for several more minutes before she finally gave up on the hope of rejoining her fading fantasies.

Letting out an extended groan, she rolled back over to the side of the bed facing her nightstand. Reina lethargically reached out with her right hand and groped around the now barren nightstand until her fingertips fell upon a cool wire frame. Grasping the frame in her fingers, Reina their sleek wire arms and slid them onto her face with ease. The world came into focus instantly, yet the languid, young lass still could not shake the feeling of exhaustion. She wobbled and stumbled her way over to the small washroom that was connected to her room, and her room alone.

After about 30 minutes of morning preparations, Reina finally managed to wash away the remnants of sleep that had plagued her body, and she returned to packing her remaining necessities. Shoving clothes and items into bags with no clear system of organization, Reina zipped up her 7th bag with a huff. 5 Suitcases and 2 bags lay strewn across her white carpet in no particular arrangement on either side of her queen-sized bed. The room was a ghastly sight. The early morning sun had not managed to sneak in through her tightly drawn curtains, so the room was thrown into a hazy, dull light. The walls, normally a lovely, light sky blue were now a haunting faded bluish-grey hue, and her carpet, once a pristine white, now reflected a drab grey color. The poor lighting only contributed to the depressing atmosphere that radiated from the room. Most of Reina’s belongings had been packed away in her various bags, leaving only her barren desk, desk lamp, and chair in the back left-hand corner of the room; her messy queen-sized bed in the center of the room along the back wall; the two old, wooden nightstands that rested on either side of the bed; 2 dressers along the right- hand wall, next to the door leading to the conjoining bathroom; a distinct pile of various dolls and stuffed animals that Reina had sewn over the past few years in the front left-hand corner; and countless other items left precariously across her floor. Gazing around her now mostly barren room, Reina felt her gut twist. She had lived since she was little. This room had been her sanctuary, but now it looked so different...so sad....

Dragging her bags out to the foyer area, Reina huffed and puffed as she dropped the last of her luggage down to the side of her front door. She took a moment to catch her breath before she straightened herself and waltzed over to her front door. Peering through the thin, translucent glass found to both the left and right of her front door, Reina waited for the arrival of a dark gray shadow to appear in the street. The small, self-driven moving truck was to be there any minute, courtesy of her father. It was going to be a long journey from West Virginia to Illinois, so a moving truck was necessary, especially since her family only owned two small cars that would be unable to house 7 bags and two people.

This was to be Reina’s big trip, the first time that she would be away from her parents for a long while. Reina was on her way to Skyline Institute. It had been several weeks since the new school year had begun; however, Reina’s parents insisted that she give her home high school at least one week, just to make sure that she was really comfortable in challenging herself again. The young girl felt confident, so she packed up her things, replied to her acceptance letter, and made all of the necessary arrangements and inquiries for her new journey. It was time for her to move on to bigger, better things and places. It was finally time for her to challenge herself once more, and what better place for that other than Skyline Institute.
All of your proposed ideas sound really interesting; however, at the moment, I am really in the mood for your first idea with the mundane, realistic magical girls. Therefore, my vote goes to it.
Name: Reina Reeves
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance:

Personality: A calm and open-minded young woman, Reina prides herself over the fact that she is quite adaptable to new situations, people, and activities. Her secret lies within her love for knitting. Leading a tranquil lifestyle, Reina is able to maintain a relatively optimistic outlook on life and a somewhat clear mind even in the midst of chaos. However, she isn’t the type of girl to take up any kind of leadership role. She tends to take the backseat when it comes to important decision making, contributing only when necessary. In fact, Reina isn’t much of a social butterfly. Preferring idle chitchat over long narratives, she manages to multitask her knitting along with other activities, such as chatting, simultaneously.
History:
Reina was born as the second child, or middle child, to two loving parents. Growing up in the shadow of her elder sister, while also competing for the attention and affection of her parents with her younger sister, Reina received the short end of both sticks. Stuck in the rut between needing to achieve more, yet less in order to fit within the distribution hierarchy of love and affection, Reina struggled to retain her position. As a result of compiled years of pent of stress and fear, Reina’s academic and social careers suffered, dropping so drastically that her middle school’s guidance counselors were forced to intervene and recommend a new path for the floundering adolescent. Swiftly diagnosing the issue and its source, the middle school counselors determined that the most effective remedy that they could offer to the young girl was the comforting advice to find a soothing hobby or activity to placate her nerves. With no better options, Reina gladly took up the suggestion, taking up knitting and related diversions; she practiced her new-found interests so much that they practically turned into compulsive hobbies. A problem, as it may seem, such as this could easily be overlooked, since Reina did proceed to show a positive change in her academics (the social aspect, as the counselors predicted, would take a bit more time).
After resting on her rekindled laurels and regaining her self-confidence bit by bit throughout her remaining years of middle school and first few years of high school, Reina finally decided that she should challenge herself a bit more. Her elder sister had already been accepted to many prestigious colleges across the country, setting the bar for her siblings very high. Aiming to shoot just as high and hopefully land high, like her sister, Reina jumped at the opportunity presented by the flyer to attend Skyline Institute. Having heard of the many great accolades achieved by the graduates of the school, Reina itched at the chance to prove herself once more. At first a bit bemused by the requirement of having to be able to see the floating island in the sky, Reina didn’t think much of it, seeing as she could view as clear as day for as long as she could remember, and eagerly persuaded her parents into letting her attend the promising school.
Nationality: American with a faint, almost nonexistent trace of Native American blood
Word : Thread - upon seal activation, a spool of thread materializes and can be manipulated at will. Thread can be controlled up to 5 meters and can be influenced to coil, grasp, entwine, tie, pull, throw, protect, deflect, and/or attack any object, living or nonliving, within the associated range. Thread can be cut, burned, and destroyed by any means; however, lost thread is regained after each new materialization (each spool containing about 10m of moderately thick thread). Also, thread from other objects, such as clothing, can be manipulated too; however, not necessary when Reina can simply materialize more thread via her seal.
Word Location: Palm of left hand
Abilities: Not really abilities, more like hobbies; Reina loves to knit, crochet, weave, draw, read, and hum in her spare time. It brings her solace, even when facing great adversities.

I would really like to apologize for taking up precious time and space in each of these sections of this wonderful RP with my character and questions. I am regretfully going to have to resign from roleplaying for a while due to an unexpected influx in schoolwork and associated obligations. Luckily my character hasn't weaved her way into any plotty things or interactions with other characters at all, so my withdrawal should leave little to no negative residual effects. Nevertheless, it has been fun roleplaying with all of you, or at least it was for me. I always seem to find more entertainment and joy out of reading other people's posts over posting myself. Anyway, I have made this goodbye far too long. I hope you all have fun RPing, and I look forward to seeing how the RP has progressed and flourished in the future.
Mentally reprimanding herself, Julia dug her short nails into the palms of her hands. If only she had not chosen to stand in the corner farthest from the staircase...if only she had not allowed her social anxieties and insecurities drive her decision, then maybe, just maybe, she could have been one step closer to making a friend. Julia sighed heavily out of frustration with herself and proceeded to bury her face in her hands.

“Ugh,” she groaned miserably. Today was, once again, just not her day for making friends. Rubbing her eyelids, Julia took a deep breath and discarded all of the negative thoughts she had just been harboring moments ago. Sure it had been a while since she had had someone to talk to, but it was nothing to get so worked up about. Calming herself. Julia removed her hands from her face and returned her gaze back to the staircase.

The blue-haired girl was picking herself up off the floor as a red-haired boy approached her. The two talked for a while, exchanging pleasant grins, before a grey-haired man rushed over and joined them. His arrival must have startled the girl, because she almost fell off her seat and on to the floor again. It was impossible to tell what they were talking about from her distance, but by analyzing their body movements and facial expressions, Julia assumed that, for the most part, everything was okay. Smiling to herself out of relief, Julia decided to shift her attention back to the masses. Over the short period of time that she had been focusing on the stairs incident, quite a number of other supernatural beings had arrived in the restaurant and bar area of the inn.

Julia sniffed the air, her keen vampire nose picking out the new scents from the old. Scrunching up her nose, Julia quickly covered the facial feature with her hand. None of the creatures in the inn smelled particularly appetizing, save a few exceptions…, but for the most part, their combined, magnified scents burned her nostrils when she inhaled deeply.

Probably the most intriguing find from her scent hunt was strong scent of werewolves that radiated from one particular area in the room. Gazing over at the bar area, Julia watched the three werewolves for a very short while before concluding that it would be best for her to retire to her room. She had woken up far too early in the afternoon, so maybe that was the origin of overdramatic reactions. A nice nap might just be the perfect remedy. Consenting with the idea, Julia removed herself from her dark, dank, secluded corner and maneuvered her way quickly and quietly passed all of the bodies that were filling up the restaurant area until she reached the stairs. Scaling the steps two at a time, Julia found the next set of stairs and made her way up to the 4th floor, where her room resided.

Ehh I don't think that it's funn if the GM diside who kills who and how..... I think that it will be more fun if the Momo bear and the GM try to black mail someone the get him/her to murder someone.....

Oh I like that idea! As seen in the anime and game, blackmail proves to be a very effective way to motivate people to commit murder. This would mean though, that there would need to be a section on the character sheet for listing people, objects, and/or memories that can be used as blackmail for the character.
@Warlord297 I don't mean to sound rude, but I do not believe the GM accepted your CS yet, so, according to Rule #4 (quoted below), you should not have posted in IC.
4. Please once you have finished your CS wait for me to accept it! I don't want people who I haven't accepted to post!

Warlord, you still need to at least fix the power section of your CS...and correct your grammar a bit, please.

@Cuddle Pot I can't give you a definite answer on your first question since I am neither the GM nor a co-GM, but, as for your second question, the answer is no. You do not have to follow or read the comic to participate in this RP. The general lore about the races (as seen in the race hiders) and the setting of the RP were inspired/based off the comic, but that is about it...I think. I mean, you can read the comic if you want to, but it is not required.
Julia stood in one of the vacant corners of the restaurant, simply observing the many people that came and went. She was very bored. However, after living in the inn for a good 14 years, Julia had come to enjoy the hobby of people-watching. The way people walk, talk, and express themselves to others, it was all very interesting. Sadly, mimicking such commonplace interactions and exchanges was harder than it looked, or at least it was for Julia.

As Julia scanned the room once more, her gaze fell upon a young woman with brilliant blue hair and glasses, who seemed to be around the same age as Julia. Julia nibbled on her lower lip as she anxiously observed the other girl descend the stairs. The afternoon had been particularly uneventful, as usual, so Julia was just a tad-bit elated and nervous to be presented with an opportunity to make a new friend.

Trying to be inconspicuous with her actions, the young, dark-haired girl continued her usual sweep of the room, only stealing a couple glances in the direction of the staircase. All fared well for the girl descending the steps, until she tripped. Gasping out of concern, Julia lurched forward immediately in an instinctive act to assist the falling girl, but stopped in her tracks mid-stride. There was no way that she was going to make it to the falling girl on time, even if she sprinted; she was practically on the other side of the room. Hesitating, Julia could only watch helplessly as the girl tumbled towards the bottom of the staircase.
how do i need to start? because idk how to start :P

Err...It seems everyone is converging on the Hunters Guild at the moment, so you could make a post that starts off with where your character is waking up and where they head off to next, be it the Hunters Guild or some place else. You can even choose to interact with someone that is also heading towards the guild if you so please. I know for a fact that Machi would groggily, but gladly enjoy the company :)
