Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, RL crises and GM'ing a from scratch Star Wars: Edge of the Empire campaign have taken their toll on my time as of late. Here's my character profile WIP, a pleasant gentleman thief with an cheeky grin and a wallet in his palm. Check your pockets, it's probably yours.
-----
Name: 'Felix' (assumed pseudonym, original name undisclosed) Age: 25-80 (various answers given when questioned) Gender: Male Race: Drakkas (possibly Human hybrid or offspring of such, due to less pronounced physical characteristics than baseline Drakkas) Physical Description: 5'4" with a slim build and compact frame, Felix trains regularly to keep himself in good physical condition but not excessively. Pale blue skin ("moon-touched" as he calls it) with long white hair usually tied back in a single ponytail to hide his toxic tendril. Physically he appears in his late-20s or early-30s but his exact age is uncertain. His horns are less pronounced than many of his species and easily hidden under appropriate headgear, Felix occasionally makes use of make up to disguise his skin tone and pass for a human. While he appears to wear a variety of well tailored suits and outfits to suit all occasions in reality Felix is usually clothed in his adaptable NVP suit which has been programmed with a number of fashionable forms he can switch between as required. He prefers long, billowing garments, such as robes, cloaks and long coats, which allow him to easily conceal any number of not entirely legal items. In emergencies the suit can switch to a fully enclosed form-fitting armour which offers protection from incoming attacks while allowing for high mobility and speedy withdrawals. Personality: To say Felix is a troublemaker is at once an overstatement and an understatement. While the fact things tend to be more interesting while he's around is true, he never intentionally sets out to cause problems, even if that's exactly what he does. A born wanderer and game player, Felix is never happier than when he's living life on the edge, whether that leads him to playing high stakes card games in the middle of a room full of heavily armed gangsters or gliding off of a rooftop to escape pursuit as long as his pulse is racing there's a smile on his face. Enhancements: * Seductive pheromones (racial ability); * Neurotoxin tendril (racial trait); * Cyberport located on his left wrist; * Disguised cybernetic left eye with neural implant capable of measuring distances and calculating trajectories Skills: * Expert game player and gambler; * Skilled knife combatant and pistol marksman; * Skilled acrobat and trained Parkour practitioner; * Amateur magician and prestidigitator; * Amateur skill at disguising himself with preparation; * Practiced storyteller and manipulator; * Practiced locksmith and pickpocket Equipment: * NVP Suit disguised as a flowing robe but capable of morphing into body armour at a moment's notice, can be used as an impromptu glider to reduce falling velocity in a pinch; * Holdout Needler with tranquilizer rounds usually stored in the folds of his robes, when the robes morph the pistol is stored in a hip holster instead; * Mono-filament dagger (unstable NanoMass) usually stored in the folds of his robes, when the robes morph the knife is stored on his lower back Bio: It's uncertain exactly where 'Felix' first came from, and everyone who asks gets told a different story. What's known for certain is that he first came to the Galactic Coalition's attention about fifteen years ago when his alias was linked with a number of low-level confidence scams, all of which were later dismissed when the wives, or other female partners of his victims, requested that the charges be dropped. Since then 'Felix' has been a constant on law enforcement watch lists, although he has never been successfully prosecuted for any criminal activities. An unashamed ladies' man, Felix will be the first to admit that he has made misuse of his race's pheromones for personal gain and favour on many more than one occasion, and it often seems as if his first response to conflict is to try and seduce his way out of it. Over the years this has led him to a number of incidents with jealous husbands and lovers, which has given him plenty of opportunities to practice street fighting and gun play. His second choice is usually to 'strategically withdraw' when faced with overwhelming opponents, and he's learnt to read whatever environment he may find himself in in order to best plan his line of retreat. Four years ago, after being innocently caught up in a civilian transport crash, Felix was patched up by a clandestine undercover law enforcement agency in exchange for his assistance infiltrating an underworld crime ring. Given access to computer interface technology and a new synthetic eye was thought at the time to have been enough incentive to recruit Felix to the agency, but once the operation was over, and his obligation fulfilled, he instead chose to head off on his travels once more. Recently associates of the crime syndicate have been looking to have words with Felix, and so he's come around to the idea of offering his services to any helpful parties who can offer him safety in numbers, even if only temporarily.
That would be a good period to use, since the Jedi Order would be in the process of rebuilding after the Exile left her recruits behind to seek out Revan in uncharted space (KotOR 2) and the Sith were still preparing for their attack on the Old Republic prior to the Sacking of Coruscant (SW:TOR MMO.) at that time there were very few organisations recruiting Force users in Republic space, which would make it far easier for a 'third way' to be seeking out sensitives.

Would you be open to having a Mandalorian bodyguard helping to ease your travels through Republic space using less than entirely legal methods? After his involvement in the First Jedi Purge, where he murdered many Force sensitives while trying to claim bounties and favour with the Sith, he's realised that a more peaceful and moderate stance is required to help the galaxy face the dangers which may lay ahead.
At what point of the Old Republic era were you thinking? That covers everything from the Jedi Schism and Hyperspace Wars to the Mandalorian Wars, Sith Invasion, First Jedi Purge and event of the Old Republic series of games.

I only ask since I'd enjoy playing as a non-Force user, such as a Mandalorian, but would need more details as to when we were in order to get an idea how the character would fit into the universe.

No-one knew exactly when the ship first drifted into the system but as soon as word that it was the Lone Star, thought to have been lost with all hands a decade earlier, every freebooter, scavenger and rogue trader were racing to be the first to board her. Stories of the alien and ancient treasures hidden within her hull had them all salivating and before long the first bodies began to appear in back alleys and floating in rivers.

Finally the United Alliance Navy stepped in to quarantine the derelict, using the threat of alien diseases and possible contamination as an excuse to hold back the looters until a properly funded and equipped salvage mission could be mounted. Somehow you managed to make the shortlist for the crew, whether due to your skills, social connections or simply because they couldn't find anyone else willing to take the risk of cracking the possibly deadly seals on the ship's airlocks, and now as you sat on the shuttle launched towards the wreck you wonder to yourself whether the more than generous bounty being paid was really worth it.

---

Looking for a likely team of space adventurers to help discover the secrets of the Lone Star, discovering both the fate of the original crew and the surprises hidden both on-board the ship and back home using a character driven narrative style where I'll be changing the course of events depending on the actions of players involved. Further details to be determined once players decide what sort of characters they'd like to portray, as the squad make-up will influence the events as much as the background.

The setting is a far future science fiction environment with all sorts of high-tech gadgets at your disposal and a mixed alien-human culture spanning many thousands of star systems. Players are invited to create their own characters and equip them with a reasonable array of skills and equipment which would be available to a privateer given access to a high-end military armoury while keeping in mind encumbrance and ammunition requirements (although these will be fairly open since advanced energy weapons and light-weight materials should make things easier for the crew.)

Anyone interested in participating should post up a brief synopsis of the character they'd like to play as, with as much creative freedom given to the creation as you'd like.

[Re: LS]

I think they're onto me and I won't be able to delay the Navy much longer. Whatever you're gonna do, you'd better get it done fast. At this rate the Rats'll be all over that ship within the week.

How would you feel about me playing as the ship's AI, with a fully robotic avatar similar to 'Romy' from the TV show Andromeda?
What sort of guys were you thinking of having involved with this mash-up? Bad boy bikers? Quick and sensitive loners? Love-em and leave-em Lotharios?
Sounds interesting but I was just wondering which race were the progenitors for the Hephaetons, or were they a spontaneous event unrelated to nay of the other races?
Might be interesting to play, especially if Girl1 and Girl2 end up getting along better with each other than with either of the guys. >:)
Hello all,

I'm currently in the process of developing my own sci-fi themed roleplaying system and am looking for a convenient forum to discuss different gaming elements people like to see in their games, ranging from character creation and equipment to campaign plots and background stories.

The system relies heavily on a very active gamemaster who'd be able to adapt the ongoing story to the players' actions and decisions, rather than setting a 'railroad' thread of events for the players to work through. As an example of this the first adventure I'm looking to use would involve a team of specialists (the PCs) being recruited to a team investigating a derelict spaceship. Players would then decide which characters they'd like to play as and what skills, abilities and traits they'd have before the GM would determine exactly what sort of ship it was they were investigating. If everyone choose combat-orientated characters then the ship may be an abandoned warship whose internal defenses were still active and which would have to be fought passed to reach the control core, for a stealth party it could be a pleasure yacht filled with valuable items, booby traps and security systems.

What the players decide to do aboard the ship would then set in motion the next adventure. For instance if they managed to secure the ship intact they might discover that apart from a few minor repairs the ship's functionally spaceworthy and so only have to go hunting for spare parts to get themselves a neat mobile base, which would lead onto a story revolving around black market deals and criminal connections on a nearby 'civilised' world. On the other hand if the players ended up causing a core breach which blows up the ship they might find themselves crashlanding an escape pod on a backwater world and having to find some way to either call for help or steal a ship from the locals to get back into space.

Another aspect of my system would be multiple story threads, which would be running in parallel to the main story being played but not revealed to the players. To go back to the previous example, the abandoned ship's former crew would be up to something as well as whoever it was hired them to investigate the ship. Through a series of dice rolls by the GM between adventures they'd be able to track whether the NPCs plans were progressing, which would then have either a positive or negative affect on the PCs. For instance while PCs were investigating the ship the former crew successfully made it to a nearby planet to sell some hardware they'd stripped out on the way to the escape pods making it easier for the PCs to find the parts they need when they arrive later, but at the same time their backers had had a run in with pirates which meant their finances would be a little tighter, leading the PCs into having to obtain the components by some other means than simply paying for them.

In the long-term these secret agendas would twist an ongoing campaign in a totally different direction from where it may end up on another playthrough, and would require the GM to be quick on their feet with new narrative options and events as the unseen agents' actions led to unforeseen complications for the PCs.

Right now I'm looking for any input as to what sort of events and scenarios people enjoy playing through, as well as any notes for things to avoid.

Thanks.
