? whats wrong?
Obscura had taken on his human form and currently wove through a South American city. Its streets were filled with people; noisy, obnoxious, ill-manned people. Humanity was not something he had ever truly come to terms with for he simply could not understand their society's functioning; how could a race so insignificant spread their seeds across the world and into every nook and corner flourish in their own filth. Humans were no longer the noble creatures of the past. Dragons once made a pact with the ancient ancestors of man; man would allow the drakes to take on their form only if they offered protection and to honor a treaty of peace. Back then, man feared the great dragons and so sought out refuge in agreements of peace. But that was then.

Since the time of the dragons man had forgotten the fear of the drakes, they ahd forgotten the respect, and so the human form of a dragon became a means of blending instead of standing out as their kings. Obscura's human form was a generous one; handsome, muscular, strong, and yet he found no appeal in it. He only ever took on this atrocious form when he needed to infiltrate the massive cities of man. Throughout his life he saw how the species had grown in numbers and in intelligence. He was not so proud that he would assume their vast numbers alone would be enough to destroy him should they so choose. And the fear that dwelled in man's heart of the drakes was not a respectful fear, but a destructive one; the modern may no longer sought out a peaceful existance with things unknown but rather pursued the destruction of anything that could return the favor.

A man carrying a stack of porcelain jars filled with spices and grains nearly plowed Obscura over. "Argh, these damn cramped roadways!" he would curse after leaping out of the way only to bump into a mother and child causing the child to break out in a shrill cry. "I can't take this anymore." His stress levels seemed to hover at a pitch fever whenever he entered into the cities of man. A cramped street with noise and smells of the worst kind surrounding his senses was hardly the place for a great dragon. He had been searching this city for nearly 3 hours already and his senses offered no tell of another of his kind. In his human form his physical senses were lowered to suit the human figure he adorned, but he still had his sixth sense; the one that told him when one of his own kind was near.

It was time to leave and search elsewhere. Perhaps the great jungles to the south; the rainforests of america were one of the few places left that a dragon could live unseen by man, but as the filthy species hacked away at the body of the great woods this precious refuge would only fade away with time. Man was destruction.

It took nearly 45 minutes to make his way back out of the city by foot and find a safe place in the hills where he could shed the wretched skin of his human form and return to the glory that was his own true form. He stretched out his wings and took in the fresh air that rolled off the grassy hills. He could taste the smog floating off the city in the distance, it sickened him to no end but he had accepted this tyrany of man and simply took refuge in the memory of his home in the north, untouched by man, protected by the freeze. As he took in the scents with his newly revived senses an eerie, powerful surge of excitement coursed through his body. There was something out of place in the scent of the air. Something he had not smelled in ages. At first he couldn't quite place what this odd smell was, but then, after a few moments of disbelief he knew.

His entire body surged with lust and desire while his mind struggled not to break down at the idea of this scent being no more than a phantom of his memories. He opened his mouth a little to draw the scent into the gland at the top of his mouth in the same way that the felines did. He could taste it and he knew. He knew this scent, though in a way it was unfamiliar to him. The scent of nobility and power, the scent of ancient glory and beauty, the scent of his dreams and his memories clashing in a powerful aroma of ecstasy: this was the scent of a dragon.

Obscura lifted his great mass to the skies, forgetting and not caring to shield himself from the view of the city below; the formation of yet another legend was of no comparison to the emotions that flowed through him. He jetted up, higher and higher into the clouds, above the clouds, where the air was pristine and untainted by man. Tears welled up from his eyes as emotion took hold of him. He looked in every direction, inhaling this precious scent, struggling to pinpoint its provider in the heavy winds of the upper atmosphere. Where was this dragon?

He took off at a speed so rarely seen in his person, his wings lit up the darkening sky in a dazzling display of what would appear to be the aurora borealis. No doubt there would be stories on the humans' "news papers" about the colorful display but he did not care for the events of their insignificant lives. He did not care about anything at this point, only finding the other. All about the sky he soared and circled, following the scent as it was whisked about in the swirling drafts of the wind currents. It was getting closer but still, he could not see the source. Doubt plagued his heart; this would not be the first time his memories brought about a phantom sense. This time seemed different though, it seemed real. It seemed perfect.

METHUZAR PROTECTING YENNEFERS HONOUR

THAT. is going to be my new wallpaper.
Sunday afternoon (End of week one training)

The week had gone by in what seemed like the blink of an eye. There had be hardships, but that was expected. Some of the tamers took to their training better than others. Some had personal issues that were preventing them from excelling in the way he knew they could, others weren't taking things seriously and this bothered Merrik to no end. ”How could a person, knowing fully what lies in the future, refuse to take responsibility and step up to the plate in the duties?” he wondered to Obsidian Nova as he carried plates of food and dishware to the large stone table in the middle of the meadow. Nova carried a large basket in his mouth with the larger items that Merrik himself could not carry. As they reached the stone table he began laying out the bountiful dinner that had just been prepared. Like every other night, apart from the night of arrival, the entire party gathered for dinner. This was to encourage socializing between tamers and gave the dragons a chance to catch up and relax with their siblings as they lounged about the meadow while their tamers ate. Merrik felt it was important for the group to get used to each other and openly communicate. This would be crucial when the war began and the party was split off into groups to be assigned to different missions and tasks. Today he would open up the doors to assignments and explain the tamers first tasks.

”The bond is a powerful magic Merrik, it is indeed possible that the high of its power is altering the sensible sides of some of the drakes’ minds. Surely they were not raised to act in such ways. Nonetheless, we must focus on implementing disciplinary tactics as well as working to heal the tamers of their burdens, be they emotional, physical, or magical.” Obsidian Nova was referring to Irin’s problematic bond and the two of them made a note to assist him in his meditation this evening. Merrik also insisted on working with Yennifer on a more regular basis to improve her understanding of magic and anatomy; a healer would be crucial.

Once the meal was set out, Merrik took his place at the head of the table, his back to the stables in the distance, he had intentions of waiting for the rest of the group (they knew full well what time dinner was), but something in his conscience was itching. He rose and made his way back to the stables. He entered the halls and made his way to where Sparks’ quarters were, knocking on the frame of the entrance. ”I beg your pardon m’lady, but I’d request entry. May we speak?” He had been through a difficult week with Sparks but a part of him felt deeply for her and what she was going through.

~~~
As Merrik took his place at the table once more, he looked around at the group of unique individuals before him. Only a week had passed since they arrived and already their faces had taken a fond portion of Merrik’s mind and heart. He looked around the meadow at the dragons as they lumbered about in miscellaneous action and interaction. He smiled at the young scaled serpents, a sense of pride warming his being.
”You've all made great progress this week.” He said to the group as they ate and sipped their drinks. ”Some drifted through the training as if by second nature, others struggled with certain aspects, but you've all done well. I want to stress the importance of what we do here each day. Without our dedication and elite abilities, this land will most certainly fall to darkness. Families will be torn apart, lands ravaged and destroyed, all that we know and love will slip into the evil that seeps across these magnificent lands. It is our duty to protect Illos. We are the New Order; we are bound by our titles and by our bonds. Do not ever forget the weight of our responsibility.”
He paused to take a long gulp of sweet wine, a nearly non-alcoholic drink, as they had removed all alcohol from the property to remove the temptation from Sparks’ reach. ”Irin, this evening I’d like to work with you personally on your bond. Yennifer, I’d like to take some time to work with you on your healing magics as well if you wouldn’t mind. I shouldn't be more than an hour with either of you so you’ll still have your evenings to do as you please. Now, on another note, this week I will be assigning each of you a task to complete. Some will be done in groups, others alone. You are to consider these as real and as important as any mission I send you on during war. I need to get an idea of how seriously you will take your responsibilities. Some of your tasks will take a few days to complete, others will be a daily task of a few hours. When you are not working on these assignments you are to go throughout your day as normal; our training may be second priority to missions but it is a priority nonetheless and for your own sake, and for the sake of this army, you must remember this.”
Erran, I might need your help thinking of tasks for the tamers.
For this week, feel free to post for the sunday afternoon/night and/or your tasks and training for the ingame week.
I'll PM each of you your tasks for the week instead of taking up thread space and posting them. They're not secrets so you can discuss them openly wherever you want of course. Well, a few might be secrets ;) lol
Also: Stitches, I want to do a collab with you in that little opening where Merrik comes to see you before dinner, so whenever you're free, just PM me a response to his knocking :P
okay, just getting started on the next post. Is everyone okay with me moving things on? I know we haven't finished all the collabs but feel free to continue working on them and edit them in, Just let us know when you do so we know to look! :P
Ghir I absolutely love arameus. My god do I ever love him. Lol I'm such a sucker for chivalry though :P stellar post, as expected ^~^
Lol I don't think any of the dragons are all spiked like that. I was always more inclined to view dragons as being more snakelike than lizard like XD but regardless, they're radical
Lol if only we could find one with dragon closer to nova. So many badass dragon knight pictures
