Yeah I'm stuck because some chick interacted with me then went AFK. Permission to just blast her face off?
Urgh. Every time I post, someone always puts one as I'm typing mine.

I haven't got time to edit it and include Bertil's utter excitement at the appointment, so please consider it to have followed immediately after EDIT: Blackbishop's.
Bertil Reenburg was attired in the finest silks of the very country the Moot's Elven guest hailed from. He was a rainbow of colours, and his fine leather boots only added to the grandeur of his wardrobe. Drinking from a silver goblet of Galadrian wine, the wily Merchant-Jarl of Escgor stroked at his goatee with ringed fingers. He was displeased to have been recalled so quickly to the country's needs, as the Merchant Council was in dire need of his guidance back at Highhammer. The black ships had driven down the confidence of investors, and Bertil's incompetent Arls were haemorrhaging gold like it was blood from a stuck pig. Such was the price, he figured, for allowing men of commerce to oversee matters of steel.

Standing from his chair, and swaying slightly with wine, Bertil bowed courteously to King Henrick, and then gave Jarless Eyildr an unusually warm smile. Placing his goblet upon the small table aside his seat, Bertil clasped his hands and rubbed them together.

Looking at Ortygg, Bertil shook his head. "Raids and plunder; unless you wish for us live this way a thousand years from now, Master Ortygg, I would ask you to question what of the greater good will come from constant barbarianism. The world is leaving us behind, I have said it a dozen times, and I will say it again. Longships and axes will only take us so far before we awake a sleeping monster our half-hearted adventures will be ill-equipped to guard against."

Turning from Ortygg, Bertil glanced over each of the assembled Jarls, before his eyes finally fell upon Eylidr. "Why choose one friend over another, my dear Jarless, as wise as you are," began Bertil. His words verged on slurs, but he fought back against the sweetness of the Elfkin wine with a mind of hardened rock. "We, the Norsians, should refrain from favouring one person over another... now, now, hear me out before you all start glaring at me," he said, chuckling.

Turning so that all his peers could see him. "It is true what Jarless Eylidr says of the Dwarves. They have a reputation for breaking promises, missing deadlines and cancelling contracts. My ledgers in Escgor are full of such examples, I assure you - however - they are indeed a wealthy peoples. Though I have lost hoards of revenue from their slimy traders over the years, I have also gained entire fortunes by carefully navigating their character flaws. Why, my Jarlship is in part down to the many deals I cut with them in the past. I would say greet them as friends, but allow room for shrewdness, harsh words and hidden eyes. We could benefit, us Norsians, with keeping the Dwarves in a warm embrace. No. We WILL benefit. Between myself and our beloved Eylidr of the Vale, we could easily manage the little folk's dishonesty. As for their assistance in times of war? Why my Lords,' he paused to bow slightly to the King, 'my King. Escgor and the Vale could fill enough coffers to afford ourselves plenty of home-grown axes, and then some for whatever cut throat would bolster us for a fair penny."

Unable to gauge the mood of either the King or the Jarls, Bertil drew suddenly nervous, and mumbled his way onto the topic of the Elves.

"The Elves are steady partners. Fair enough, and everything is always agreed before it is finalised. They do not undercut, nor can they be over-sold. Honourable, though they are, as a merchant they offer little opportunity for commercial innovation. I estimate that we Norsians account for a quarter of their imported goods, and the same again for exports - this is unlikely to change. The Elves love nothing more than balance and organisation; if we sell a lot one day, it is because they planned for it, and if we sell little the next, it is again because they made it so. A wily people, but as I mentioned, they provide a steady partnership. So in conclusion, my King, my Lords, I say we draw both as close to us as we can, but only so far as their own dislikes for each other allow."

Bowing for a final time, Bertil made his way back to his chair, and clambered into it.
Alright, if you look at the first IC posts you'll see the NPC nations now have a hider that reveals their army caps.

These are caps, it does not mean they have that many men in the field.

Currently human nations will be relative to the strength of the Gorikans, until the RP gets fully under way, in which case it'll then fluctuate to provide y'all with a challenge.

So bottom line, if the enemy can have 100,000 men, you might find they have much less - or if you leave them for a while, and then invade, you might find you're up against the numbers advertised.

I'll keep their standing troops secret. I would put them into individual armies for you all to see, but doing that would be a helluva lot of work. Just know that it is perfectly possible to deplete them.
Sorry for the delay in PMing you the tech trees. I'm using this brief break in gameplay to create NPC statuses, so you can monitor their total army strengths and populations.

It'll help you decide whether or not you want to take them on.

Tech trees will be sent before the second season starts.

Of course.

Fair enough, i'll just put them at the top for you in future. Can't be any easy task doing all of this number crunching. Also I was wondering if you had any free time you could maybe run a simulation for me, maybe of the battle at the Germany/Poland border and let me in on the die rolls and such? At this point in time i'm still trying to work out how many Isarimer need to be contained in a war band to be effective vs a force of that size. At present i'm working on pure guesses.

Sure. PM me with your planned assault force and I'll run it through the battle resolver

Hs ladyfriend I do believe. I don't think she made much of a racket in the intcheck so it may have been easy to miss the post. Anyway, i'm looking to write up a post tonight and tomorrow. I just want to do a few last checks to make sure i'm doing it all right in terms of mechanics. 1: I just make an army card within my troop capacity to represent an army that I will be using, correct? 2: How do we represent tech tree research? 3: Should I be worrying about population growth in the first turn?

Yeah, the first season or two will be our practice runs. I've kept the NPC moves to a minimum so that you all have a chance to get to grips with things. By season three I'll consider the game in full operation, and the general "story" will begin. Just remember, the mechanics, despite going on forever on the OOC, are actually very simple and all you really need to be concerned about is replenishing your troops, human contentment levels and where to strike.

Anyway, to answer your questions.

1) That is correct. Post them at the top of your IC. I ask you to do this because it will allow me to quickly find them. You can form as many forces as you want, as long as their combined troop count does not exceed your cap. This is so that you can have forces in multiple regions.

2) Representing tech tree should be an easy feat for the IC posts. Increased attack damage could be put down to your soldiers/peoples becoming better accustomed to Earth's gravity, for example. Population influxes could be put down to more portals opening from Gorika. That planet hasn't fallen yet, but it is in the process of breaking apart. A second option is that they may have been "lost" in time and space, having been carried by an interrupted portal. (this will be speculated on by the High Elves). I don't think any of the techs are significant enough to tear a hole in the realism of things.

I will be PMing you all a seperate PM soon that will be dedicated to your technology. Through those you will be able to tell me what you want to research, and I will inform you when research is completed.

3) No. You shouldn't need to worry about any of it full stop. I will look after all that information; all you will need to do is reference it from time to time. Every country you take, I will update the stats and figures, this also applies to research and other events. The mechanics are for me alone to manage, you guys merely need to play the IC as you normally would.

Think of it in another light. Normally NRPs that have mechanics rely on the players themselves to do the number crunching. This is a time consuming task, and when you also need to post a fully fledged novelistic style IC to accompany it, you're using up a lot of your evening.

In this RP, I don't have a nation, because I operate the NPCs, and I also work out your mechanics for you. At the moment your nation stats are down at the bottom of the OOC, however even I myself have realised what a chore it is to keep scrolling down to them, so I will look at alternative places to put them where they can be more accessible.
If there are more questions, or things that need clarifying, then please do not hesitate to ask.

EDIT: Having looked at your post, I'll allow you to keep your army cards for each segment as you have already done. I only wanted them at the top because people IC in a wide range for NRPs, and I didn't want to have to sift through a wall of text to find what I needed. However, posts that are orderly and segregated like yours are great, and so you can go ahead and place army cards next to where they are relevant. .

Well I know one player who is making a sheet. She posted in the interest check. Don't know if we want to delay the the whole thing though.

She did? Who was it? *looks* Heh, I must have missed that. I was hella busy getting this thing pieced together.

Well that's no problem, I'm off to bed now anyway. Like I said, the first season wont move forwards until all the ICs are in place. If I hear something from her by tomorrow afternoon (GMT 0 16:30ish) then we'll wait for her to get things sorted. I just assumed you were all itching to get the ball moving, but I have no problem with waiting for more players.
The RP is open. Players may join as and when, although the later they leave it, the more of a disadvantage they will face.

If you all prefer, we can leave it for a few days. The NPC moves have been made, and the RP wont progress beyond the first season until all players have made an IC.
