I'm going to say now that I am on the western wall but am going to wait a little for Muiri to join you in the sprint to the east.

Don't mean to be a busy body, but the barbarians are approaching from the north. If you're on the western wall, you wouldn't be seeing anyone coming out of the trees... yet. Come join us on the northern wall, above the gate, for an awesome partay.
Ah Fluffy, I missed you out. Feel free to tag along with the captain and co!

EDIT: Thinking we gotta down that barbarian before his mates come charging out of the trees with ladders?
The Captain eyed the foreigner with measured respect, but equal dismay. It seemed that he was not the only one who felt the barbarians' sheer carelessness was not quite right of the situation. He had fought with them in minor skirmishes, from time to time, in the dephs of the forest. They weren't the smartest of battlefield tacticians, but he'd never seen them throw their lives away needlessly. The two previous assaults on Castle Rivergate, the Captain had rightly put down to their inexperience when it came to dealing with large stone defensive structures. There could be no way that they were prepared to simply clamber up the walls, whilst under the devastating volleys of the defenders - trying that had cost them dearly last time.

Something moved in the corner of his eye - something that sent a tingle up his spine. He shoved the foreigner to the side, and cast a look across the court yard to the eastern wall. There a thin line of men, perhaps a dozen or so, stood as look outs. Trinton's eyes found what they had seen, and he focused on one guard in particular. He was a tall man; his face obscured by a rusted full helm, and the chainmail around his biceps looked set to burst at the stitches. There was a small blade in his hand, and before the Captain could yell, he had plunged it into the neck of an unsuspecting sentry.

"Enemy on the eastern walls!" Trinton bellowed, drawing his longsword and starting at a hurried jog. He turned briefly, pointed at the foreigner and a rather sheepish looking woman next to him (Ahem, Muiri). She was a strange one, didn't seem to have much in the arms, but she hefted a glorious looking polearm. Against one barbarian, he was confident just the three of them could cope. "You two, with me. The rest of you, stay here - Sergeant, see to the defence if you will."

"Aye, Captain," replied Sergeant Jarrid.

With that, Trinton made off towards the North Eastern Tower, which would convey him to the eastern wall. He chanced a glance over at the barbarian, and winced at the sight of three more fallen sentries. The others had backed off, giving the spy a wide birth. Activity and commotion from the keep's parapets told Trinton that Lord Polvark was aware, and hopefully, would be responding in kind.
I was watching some mundane horror film the other day, and it was okay, usual stuff. Shaky cam, people doing stupid stuff, walking around an abandoned hospital and slowing getting deaded.

Whilst the film was a 5/10, it did give me an interesting idea for an RP. By now you've already guessed the premise, and it's probably already been done, but hear me out:

So you've got a group of people gathered at a derelict hospital, for one reason or the other. Could be that they're just friends messing around, or a paranormal investigation team trying to catch evidence - or maybe they're strangers, who've been lured there with the promise of money. Standard, run of the mill horror intros I guess.

The scary things happen in phases, and gradually get worse. As the RP progresses, I will upgrade the 'scare level'. So for example, we'll start with "feelings of unease" and "fluctuating temperatures in certain places", and then progress to "seeing glimpses of patients/nurses/doctors in reflections, or at the end of hall ways" etc. Before long, these glimpses manifest themselves physically, and start to cause harm to the players - or try to anyway. The hospital might start shifting around, or it might bar the players from leaving through whatever means.

So in essence I guess, a horror film, but in RP form. It would be free form, and down to the players to steer the story, with regards to the hospital's past and the intentions behind the scary stuff.

If I do go ahead and do it, it wont be right away because I currently have other RP commitments (although these tend to die down quite abruptly). However, if there is a desire for this sort of thing, I can go away and start working on the OOC so that when the time comes, I can just put it up straight away.

A thought for your thoughts?

Don't we need Orcs before we can have half orcs?...I would suggest that if saving time rather than making something unique and interesting is the motivation, that one simply not submit anything. That way zero time is spent. It doesn't get any better than that.

Ouch, but nope, you're absolutely right. I apologise for stifling creativity. So what Orcs are we going for? The brutish humanoid ones? Or the gangling hunchbacks in the LOTR? I feel that needs to be established first.
I got sick of seeing that crappy paint drawing I did, and so I've replaced it with something a little better that I made with RPGmaker. It's not quite to scale, but it's easier on the eyes!

I'm thinking of jumping in if that's alright with you.

Of course, the more the merrier!

And on that note, anyone can jump in whenever. There's a lot of people defending the castle, just materialise from the ranks of the defenders.
How's the progress coming on the actual RP itself, races aside?

I think I'll start working out the lore of the city state my human comes from, unless you intend to cover all that yourself? I was thinking of something like Minas Tirith - you know, a walled up city with withering power that clings to old dreams of conquest. It wouldn't have much impact on the RP I guess, but it would give something for my guy to talk about if anyone ever asks him.
That'd be fine. The "barbarians" are just the mainstay of the enemy horde. They might use all kinds of beast, from rabid dogs to enraged hippos - or fantasy-based animals. As for magic, I don't mind it either way, but I myself always aim for nitty-gritty sword and shield work. Whoever wants to cast a fire ball may do so, just be careful the barbarians don't suddenly show up with shaman to launch lightning bolts at you!

Okay, I am giving up on my previous idea and saving that for a later date, after I have fixed the flaws that it has. As for this roleplay I have decided to go with a half-orc since they have captured my interest quite a lot as of late. I'll be working on a race description and post it here soon.

They already exist in the D&D universe, you may as well copy and paste it or just link us to the wiki page. Would save you some time.
