Fantastic turn out so far, much more than I had expected, but hey, the more the merrier.

Okay, well, I'll get Chad's CS up, and then I'll get working on the first IC post. I'll plant us in the hospital grounds, and then we go from there.

Could one start off as a spirit?

I'm afraid not, I'd rather any vengeful spirits came to be after we had a little time to explore the hospital.

EDIT: You've all been accepted, see the character section above for confirmation.
St. Helen's Hospital - Survive the Night, A Horror RP

St. Helen’s Hospital for the Criminally Insane (Picture taken from Deviant Art, made by “Kvasilchuk”)

Writing Style: Any.

Post Length: As much and as little as you want.

Writing Skill: All welcome.

Current Scare Level

Phase Two - What the F**K was that!?

    - Fluctuating temperatures in certain areas.
    - Feelings of being watched.
    - An odd sense of dread, without being sure why
    - Glimpses of mysterious figures in the corner of your vision.
    - Stuff like this suddenly appearing on reflective surfaces for a split second.
    - Mysteriously shifting objects when you're not looking.

Introduction

It’s Saturday night, and you’ve nowhere to go. You had plans, but they were unexpectedly cancelled at the last possible minute. Resigning yourself to a quiet night in, your spirits are suddenly lifted by the vibrating spasms of your phone. Grabbing it, you see the caller ID as “Chad”.

Chad’s an alright guy, a bit on the silly side of things, but he’s a good hang all the same. You answer the call, and he invites you to join him and the rest of your friends at the abandoned St. Helen’s hospital, a few miles out of town. You don’t know the place too well, just that it had a bit of a dark history, and that a lot of kids go there to hang out, especially on Halloween. Well, you haven’t got anything else to do, and if everyone else is going, you may as well too right?
Character Sheet

Name:

Gender:

Age: Keep it between 16 and 21.

Physical Description: This is for the benefit of other players. I will add your characters to first OOC post so that they can reference your guy/gal’s appearance in their posts, should they choose.

Nickname: What do the others usually call you?

Background Information: You don’t need to go crazy here, but as everyone in the group is supposed to know each other, it’ll be good if you can list certain details they would know about your character.

Items of Interest: Anything your character is carrying that MAY come in handy. This is a freeform RP at its heart, so I wont stop people from suddenly having something not listed. It's more for your benefit, so you can keep a reference for what you designed your character to have at its conception. Examples would be a flash light, cigarette lighter, penknife, phone, religious pendants, pocket mirrior etc etc. Literally anything you could foresee being either useful or relevant.
St. Helen’s Grizzly Past – Optional Reading

Here is the history of the hospital. You do not have to read it, however, if you plan for your character to be aware of St. Helen’s past, then I suggest you do. Alternatively, you can use it so that your character may discover ‘clues’, that bit by bit piece things together. Sky’s the limit really, so here it is:

Death is Not the End

Don’t be afraid of your character dying. Death will allow you create a new character, in the form of a later comer. These later comers could be more youths, delayed from the party, or concerned parents – or indeed, the police. More fodder to the nightmare, I say!

Alternatively, your ghost form could go on to assist your friends in surviving by warning them – or get absorbed into the hospital’s darkness, thus propelling you to murder those you once loved.

Right, final product has been created. Please take a moment to glance over it, and give it your seal of approval or disapproval. No point in me putting up something people have a problem with. Once I've gotten sufficient feed back, I'll get the ball rolling:

Right, sorry for the delay. I had to go and write a massive world history for another RP, and it took me ages. I will now get to work on the final OOC product, and let you all know when it goes up. Expect it to be today.
Alright, spent an hour writing all of this, so if you don't like it you better be nice about it. I haven't proof read it yet, so there might be some glaring grammatical errors. I will fix these later, after I've relaxed my aching brain.

Eblistan – The Rise and Fall of an Empire

EDIT: I can of course make concessions to the whereabouts of nations, or their names. I just literally had to invent a world lore by myself, and I felt if I had to keep stopping to ask questions it wouldn't ever get done. So if your character's origin stands in stark contrast with the lore, just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Be patient though, this was far from an easy stroll through the park and I'd like people to show respect, rather than go "RAHRARHAHRAHRAHR IF YOU READ MY CHARACTER SHEET YOU WILL CLEARY SEE BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH HOW DARE YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH"

SECOND EDIT: I can also make maps of places like Nillanor and Irongarde upon request. These are actually quite easy to make, so I don't mind doing it. Other places too I could make, if given descriptions to work from.
Right, I'm going to need the names of continents for me to develop Eblistan's lore a bit more without havig to keep leaving "[insert blah blah here]" every five words.

What I need:

- Name of a western continent, mostly barren desert and harsh mountainous terrain.

- Name of the continent Eblistan is on.

If you have no preference, I can go on to make up these names - I will do so anyway, so I can get started, but if anyone feels they need changing it wont take me five seconds to go back and edit what I have.

Western continent = The Olcras, or Olcra.

Eblistan's continent = Eulona
I am flattered that you have used my map, and my lore in your OOC. I will ensure I flesh it out more tomorrow (it's 1:30 am over here), and PM you it so that it brings us forwards to modern times. For all concerned however, basically know that Elblistan became great, but then floundered and slowly dwindled. At least, that's what I had planned.

Character Name: Mundhir Sadek

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Noteworthy Abilities / Limitations:

    - Prince of Eblistan: Mundhir is a Prince of Eblistan, and seventh in line to the throne. With such royalty assigned to his name, he commands a great deal of respect amongst the peoples of Eblistan. Such respect can arouse the most heroic of feats in the lowliest of peasants.

    - Expert Swordsman: Mundhir, like many of his countrymen, is more than adept in the use of the sabre. Being from the Royal House, his training has been lavished somewhat when compared to the average man. He is quick on his feet, and deadly in single combat.

    - Human: Though courageous and heroic in nature, Mundhir is limited by the attributes of his species. Fallible and flawed, he can but try to make his way in a world that is against him at every turn. Morals are cheap, and when the greater good is in question, he will not shy away from sacrificing the few for the prosperity of the many. He will also likely do things that enable the achievement of his goal easier, even at the loss of others.

Background: Mundhir is a Prince of Eblistan, and seventh in line to the throne. Growing up in prettied gardens of the royal residences, he was taught the finer arts of life, whether it was poetry, art, language, history or lovemaking.

However, this by no means makes Mundhir a weak man. Though only thirty years old, he has experienced the bloody nightmare of war several times. Usually serving at the head of his father’s World Breakers, he is an elite warrior of few equals, and is considered to be of a deadly tactical disposition. Given the chance to command an army, he would no doubt lead Elblistan to reclaim its former glory – if only his status In the bloodline would permit him

Growing increasingly impatient of serving a father who lacked vision, and brothers that lacked conviction, Mundhir started to look beyond the limitations of his station to serve his peoples.

Starting small, he gathered a few of his loyal soldiers to his cause, and waged an unsanctioned yet effective campaign against the repeated aggression of Eblistan’s neighbours. Outnumbered, he often relied on the use of guerrilla tactics to beat down his enemies; horse riding and archery became the mainstay of his military doctrine, in line with the Prophet Ebli Khan of old’s similar reasoning, and so was able to drive the enemy back from the ruins of Baalor.

The victory gave him fame, more soldiers and wealth; it also gained him envy. Though he would do well for Eblistan, his brothers, shocked by his resourcefulness and his popularity with the people, saw it fit to have him murdered.

One night, busy planning the logistics of his military endeavours as he often did, Mundhir was set upon by masked assassins. His sabre was nearby, and he was able to defend himself – but sustained a lethal dose of Ice Venom from the tainted blade of his attackers. He succumbed quickly, and the world darkened around him. The last thing he could remember, was the irritated curses of his killers.

Appearance:

EDIT: Thought I'd say, the 'lethal dose' wasn't lethal, obviously, or this would be an obituary. I was just making the point that he is supposed to be dead - and therefore can appear wherever he needs to be. Whether it's a dungeon or a ditch.
Automaton said Maybe Clarke could be there?, in the sense of a spirit or a weird deformed subject of his own experiments?. Just a suggestion, by the way that whole thing looks. Beautiful.

So there is some support for an expanded intro?

Okay, here's what I'll do. I'll create a new section in the starting OOC post to include the hospital's history. That way, players who want to read it, can, and therefore their characters will be more informed. Alternatively, they could arrange it that their characters discover documents/clues etc that slowly reveal the hospital's disturbed past. Players who don't wish to read it, can quite happily represent the characters who are oblivious, or know very little about the place. Win win.

I was going to hold off on putting this up, due to other RP commitments, but as I mentioned on the very first post of this thread, such commitments end abruptly. I'm reckoning two RPs I'm in have just faded into the shadow.

So with all that said, I'll make final preparations, and then up it goes.

Hamster bro, since you're the first one to have a solid region defined for your creatures, I think it would be best if we expanded outwards from there. We're not going to start in that city, but as far as defining where our characters are from, it should be described in relation to the map you have there.

Not creatures, just plain old non-furry humans :) But yeah, do what you will with the map. I'll wait for the OOC to go up, before I start doing more. Kinda in the dark with regards to the story direction, if any, and what other peeps are up to.

All in good time though I suppose.
