Righty'o, well I've added brief layouts for both starting scenarios.

I'll be adding more stuff to this as the day goes on. I might pause with everything else, and move onto character sheets, so that you guys who are still interested in this can get a head start for the OOC.

I'm personally in favor of keeping things such as that unknown to us as players unless it's a thoroughly scoutted/explored area. Wearher, type of day, and perhaps general layout would make sense.

That was my thinking. It also means I have to do less work, which is always good!

I'll set the time of day, and weather. However, I think it best if the pictures are left to give a representation of the area, and that the players make up the layout themselves.

In the castle's instance, the players know there's ruins on top of the cliff; they can decide for themselves where the keep is, or the remnants of a blacksmith's lodge. If I start dictating these details, I'm worried it might take too much away from player input.

@Hamster: Is Mundhir dead??

No, well, it's a bit of a cliffhanger.

The poison started to leave his body as he was about to fight one of the mystery assassins.

Don't wanna give too much away, but no, he's not dead. His next post will feature him in some dreamworld/afterlife scenario, shooting the breeze with Ebli Khan. The post after that, I plan for him to be alive - and different... okay I gave too much away.
On another note, regarding scenarios. I'm at a crossroads with them over giving away details.

Would it be best for me to provide:

    - General layout
    - Types of monsters present, if any.
    - Lore-related discoveries (i.e ancient texts/pictures denoting Ironshore's past)
    - Loot to be found.
    - Weather
    - Time of day

Or would it be better to allow the players to decide? You know, let 'em make it up as they go along?

Oh goodness, you certainly are getting muh deeper Hamster! The touch up on gender equality was nice, as most people tend to forget about it in fantasy settings. This whole 'scenario' business will take me time to asjust to, however xD

Trust me, it works.

8 people roaming around together is not workable; I've tried, many times. With this system, you wont have to come home from work/school, read through ten posts and then try to remember who interacted with your character as you write a reply. Whilst this is not normally a problem for me personally, I know it is for others. So, yah.

The simple idea is that you only have to interact with the characters operating in the same area.

EDIT: Ah yeah the gender business; well, I was tired of all these perfect social utopias people keep dreaming up. My world is full of racists and sexists, snobs and the downtrodden.

I don't experience that too much honestly. my biggest issue in that vein, is telling people to get to X place to start, but they take forever. partially my fault for not just starting them there. But still, they take their precious time. In Allaria, I usually set it up so they know where to to go in their first/second posts.

In my RP, I thought it a grand idea to start 20 players off in a dungeon - with the obvious aim of escaping into the wider sandbox world. A sort of semi-tutorial phase, if you will, that was supposed to be quickly skimmed over so that the RP could properly begin.

Well, about 30,000 words and ten frustrated drop outs later, we finally made it into day light.

Yup, from now on I'm throwing people into where they need to be at the start.

Getting deeper.

Added a few more pieces of lore. I'll probably leave that section for now, and move onto the rest.

As mentioned, if anyone has any questions regarding the RP's lore, shout it out and I'll get on it. Sometimes when writing things like this, my mind hits a wall and I can't work out what needs including and what doesn't, meaning I have to come back the following day to reassess. First world problems etc.

Anyways, I'll keep y'all updated on how things are going as they progress.

Basir was just some nameless soldier. Basar is the evil brother. I know it gets confusing, but it's hard to keep using Middle Eastern-esque names without treading into Islam territory... so I have to keep using similar ones.

Um, Mundhir could use some help. Jazeer could also use some help.

Mundhir = action packed | Jazeer = knowledge/lore seeking.

I have no objections towards making other characters , I might do so myself but not till I post and catch up for Kylmi...Which I am working on right now, but.. our side, the princly one, has attacked with a volley of arrows, or something, and now the elves are coming forward?. the war room is being attacked. a cure was found; Aevah is blind.Correct?

There's a skirmish; Mundhir's men, led by Hazim, are harassing the Elven camp whilst the others (Shorus, and you I think?) sneak in to kill/capture the Mad Prince.

The War Room is under attack by unknown assassins; possibly the ones who tried to kill Mundhir originally, possibly not. Who knows? :O Mundhir falls down as he faces one of them, due to the "healing" he's receiving from Neph's creepy friend.

Aevah is blind. Yes.

Lol, since we are now down so many characters would it be okay by the powers that be if I create another character if I promise not to have Aevah and her interact constantly... if at all. I'd have them go separate paths... I was thinking about maybe a soldier loyal to Mhundir's brother cuz he seems like he is having it pretty rough all on his own.

Of course you can create another character. We're at a point now where we have our core players, and if we want to see this thing through to some kind of end, then it's imperative you play something you'll enjoy.

Yes we're alive, even I, now we just need to breathe a little life back into this.Starting with myself. There shouldn't be anymore delays nor hindrances on my part from here on out.

Awesome, glad to know you're still with us.
