This will be in connection with my thesis project (see the link in my signature).
The story that we will have in the end will be used as inspirational resource and as a testing story to see how the game really works. The players will receive the credit for being involved with the creation process (and of course if you want to be part of the Team, just contact me).
I will be the GM and lead the story. I won't be part of the actual game other than in NPC and story-leading roles. I will not have a character of my own.
Moving on to the style and feel in the game: If you have ever played or seen The Elder Scrolls franchise, there you have a good direction. No high fantasy or anything too extreme. Magic and other supernatural elements are in. The philosophy behind it we'll discuss in OOC.
A brief sketch of the backdrop:
Summer is well on it's way when you arrive to a picturesque, rather small and isolated rural town of Avveel. You have traveled long and spent your nights under the sky both in rain and in clear weather. It is a five days journey after Avveel so you plan to lay over the night, recover of the journey so far and get what is needed before continuing your journey to the Imperial capital, Helsset. You are heading there to join the Royal Guard - the elite military unit directly responsible to the King Gonagas.
You are a person of remarkable skill and talent in your art be it swordsmanship, controlling the supernatural and the elements, stealth or alchemy you name it. The reason why you answered to the rather unusual recruitment call is for you to know and others to find out (unless you shared it already). You do know each other from the previous village you traveled through, the village of Giron - the last at least somewhat politically meaningful village on this streak before arriving to Helsset. Since Giron, you have been traveling together as a party. That was three days ago.
---------------------------------
You are free to explore the town, it's round abouts and interact with the people that are there to begin with once you arrive.
There will be two quests. First to find a missing child, then rescue another from being sacrificed.
The game will be played a couple of times to get parallel and/or alternative scenes leading to different endings.
taistelusopuli is back and looking for quality RP experiences in the 1x1 field! Below you have a "CV" if you will
~:x:~
I am able to write...
Free Very well, done it a bunch
Casual Very well, all I write end up being in this category. <- mainly looking for
Advanced Haven't done it too much but I am able to write it though it will take much more time.
I don't do...
M&M or F&F romances
fan fiction
I do play pretty much everything else. To suggest a few genres...
Medieval Fantasy
Post-Apocalyptic & Alternative Reality
Sci-Fi
...would be the top three in order of preference.
Platform is a challenger’s choice.
I also have a couple of worlds that I am building. So if you have an interest of seeing what Idumea, Alternative Earth or Auralia has to offer, I'd be more than glad to take you there. There is also much that I have not thought of so it will always be an adventure us both ;)
Stories from Idumea — A medieval fantasy world
Genre: Fantasy, Supernatural, Gods Characters: Nieida (F) & Ganda (M) Relationship: brother and sister Setting: The Realm of Gods
Idumea is a world that was created by god-twins Nieida and Ganda. They were born of Father Universe and Mother Eternity in the great halls of Space and Time. As they grew up where the light and the dark met, the elements were their toys and the spirits their friends. They dreamed the same dream, to love and to rule, but while the light guided the other, the darkness was enticing to the other.
The game is Nieida & Ganda growing up, creating the world and in the end receiving their own kingdoms to rule. I have scenes from there and there so as a whole this would not be a terribly long or never ending game.
My preferred character: Ganda
Genre: Fantasy, Slice of Life, demi-gods Characters: Nieida (F) & Isit (M) Relationship: wife & husband Setting: Idumea, before it was divided
Ever since Nieida had grown up in the Realm of Gods, she had grown fond of darkness and shadows. When she got to choose where to begin building her kingdom on Idumea, she naturally chose a drearier and darker land. The home for her house was a land of sharp, steep mountains where the rock itself was as grey and cold as the heart that beat in the chest of Daughter of the Universe.
The game is about Nieida building her kingdom and establishing her reign on Idumea.
My preferred character: Isit
Alternative Earth — A post-apocalyptic alternative timeline with supernatural elements
“Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Now nature makes us decide which one will occupy Earth.”
A space storm hit the Earth on September 13th in 2012. It raged for three days and three nights. Electricity died and the whole digital world with it. Connections between the American continents and Europe were lost as well as connections with all the islands of the oceans and far away places in distant countries. Satellites fell from the skies with everything else that was in the air. All of humanity was thrown back to the age before electricity.
The Earth wailed and screamed that time. It was in pain. It trembled from core to the crust destroying many great cities and buildings of men. Valleys turned into hills and mountains were leveled to fields. Many islands were swallowed and new ones emerged from the sea. Since then Earth has been sick. It is alive, just barely. It stays alive with the light in the hearts of men, women and children.
The storm and the tumult killed most of us. Those that did not die in the storm, soon died to their injuries, lack of nutrition and shelter. Those of us who stayed alive experienced strong headaches and physical pain for days, some even weeks after the storm.
Soon reports of strange anomalies and supernatural accidents started to travel among the survivors. We heard of poltergeists, possessions and some throwing a burst of destructive energy of some kind in their anger killing someone by accident. We also heard of pillars of light, glowing shields that saved someone from being crushed under a building that was falling apart. We heard of miracles.
We learned that the storm had amplified our emotions and deepest desires into a usable and visible energy that could destroy and build up.
In the world we lived in we faced a new danger – the power of our emotions, unthoughtful reactions and desires. Those who were keen to be negative and live a life of questionable morals began to use their newly found powers for their own benefit. They soon found out that life began to fade from the place where they lived. Earth began to wither, lose it's colors and eventually it would die.
Earth grew stronger where there was light. It could be even restored to its former glory. These places became the target of the darkmen – or parasites as some called them. The darkness within them began to consume them and eventually turn them into mindless husks if the were weak enough. They would attack, destroy, plunder, kill. We were forced to fight.
That is how this war began. Not a war of faith or flag, neither a war to conquer nor to liberate. This war is about keeping Earth alive.
Auralia — A light hearted, high-fantasy world where music and sounds are magic.
A new fresh world that needs playing to take shape. Ask questions to know more.
So I'm developing a tabletop/board format RPG for international distribution as my thesis (release summer 2016).
The work has started along nicely with a bunch of mechanics and graphic design on it's way. The biggest hurdle is the lore of course. While I'm digitalizing all the lore on the world that I have and that I come up with along the way, I need people to help me with a couple of things.
I am looking for people to do some character design. For now the primary assignment would be creating character classes and skills for them.
A small group of some three people would be perfect to begin with.
If this catches your interest just send me an email to markuslappalainen.pl.idumea@gmail.com

From my signature you will find a link to my search announcement. Just barely noted that a more proper place for it would've been in Members Lounge. It is not directly connected to roleplaying on the forum so replacement might be a good idea.
