Bump.
Brother-Librarian Nyxos
Male Grey Knights Librarian

Age: 296
Height: 7' 9" out of armour, ten-foot-ish with it.

Personality: Deep-feeling and soulful, Nyxos has a power behind his emotions few can match. When he is jovial, he is the life of the party, but when he is angry, his fury overshadows all else. He is generally amiable and boisterous, but threatening his friends, the Imperium or being a Daemon (or in league with one) is a sure way to earn his ire.

Equipment: Terminator armour with Psychic Hood, custom Nemesis force sword (tailored grip, balance; improved Psychic conductivity - may be used to channel any and all psychic powers.)

Skills: A master of both swordsmanship and psychic combat. However, he is of less use in the 'high lore' of the psychic arts - divination, examination of artifacts etc. His accuracy at range is only just within the acceptable limits for a Grey Knight, since he almost never uses a boltgun. Strangely, he is also an excellent cook.

Psychic Powers: Nyxos is a powerful, yet unorthodox Psyker, part of the reason why he was assigned here instead of among the Grey Knights. He wields his powers through emotion, making him at once more susceptible to corruption, with anger, bloodlust and pain, yet also resistant to it, with love, righteousness, and the desire to protect. He often sinks into what he refers to as 'the Flow', some form of semi-precognitive trance combined with physical enhancement, turning him into a whirlwind of flashing blade and psychic might.

Appearance:

History: Taken by the Black Ships at just one and a half years of age thanks to his powerful psychic signature, Nyxos was raised in the Emperor's faith. When the time came, he was selected by the Grey Knights. He completed his augmentation in record time, powers speeding his recovery from each surgery, and threw himself into his training. He has always walked a knife-edge, fuelling his powers with emotions, and many have argued for his destruction as a risk, but his near three centuries of exemplary service have quashed all but his most vocal of detractors, and even they have only managed to get him sent out to investigate the strange anomaly that recently showed up...

Oh, it was nothing. Can't have a mutiny if the leader is still around, right? So, now with the OP out of the way, who wants to be promoted to GM?

Hello? Still here? Just because my workload decides to be insane doesn't mean that I'm not coming back! Could we please at least try PMing me before kicking me out?!
Darkraven said That said, I believe that a combat heavy Xcom roleplay would still be wasted potential, as Xcom has always been about the story as much as it is about the gameplay- and what is interesting is that the game has always allowed us to write our own stories, and I'm sure plenty of fan fiction writers did just that.

I agree with all of this. I can't count the number of times I come up with complete personalities, interactions and offscreen shenanigans between my soldiers.

As for fan fiction, I've looked for those, and the number of XCOM ones is surprisingly small, unfortunately.

Lol... It'd be far more than that. I'd say we could have a main character with other characters if you could handle it. .Inept rookies probably won't exist.

Dibs on the psychic sniper.

Darkraven said We'd have a ton of NPCs who may or may not be in the RP on the long term, who may or may not be important

Once again, dibs on the genetic modification specialist.

I think Grothnor had some spoilers about the story, didn't he?Edit: On a side note, I'm starting another 40k role play. It will be set up in such a way that there would be multiple racial factions for players to choose from, all interacting in one star system. Eldar, SM, Chaos, Dark Eldar, Tau, Imp Guard, etc. Each racial faction would have it's own thread, and it's own GM, who would be a character such as a Farseer, Lord General, Warboss, Force Commander, etc. Each group would roleplay semi-independently, but we'd have one extra thread devoted to overlapping interactions, such as one faction's characters fighting the other fr control of a planet, or roleplaying a truce agreement or something. Everyone in this thread is invited. I'll be making the interest check soon, so throw me a message if you're interested. So far we have the GM's for Chaos, Tau, and the Imperial Guard down, and I'll be going Eldar.

Chaos! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! (I'm the Chaos GM, by the way, for anyone reading this who's interested.)

I've always wondered what a Khornate Sorcerer could do... ripping the blood out of people's bodies, detonating their heads, psychic missiles in the shape of flaming skulls, boiling people's blood inside them, weapons made out of blood... the possibilities are just so awesome. Why does Khorne have to hate psykers?!
Katana and magic? Seriously? Please don't steal my character concept. I would like it if you could please come up with something original as opposed to switching the magic to use HP instead of mana and altering the skills a bit.
Harry Potter is one of my all-time favourite fandoms. However, I do not have nearly enough HP roleplays going on at the moment. Therefore, I have created this thread. If any of my ideas seem interesting to you, please PM me. Note that I will play Harry in all of them. I will be adding more ideas on a regular basis, so please come back and check for new things!

Before I outline my thoughts, a couple of notes.

What I expect from my partner
I am a Grammar Nazi. I expect literate, high-quality posts. I don't much care for length requirements, however, so long as the quality is there. In this vein, character development, introspection and exploration of the people themselves is a must. While I admit I am partial to a good combat-based RP, these are not among them.

The plot ideas I give below are fairly loose, and any or all can be combined together. Thus, my partner should be willing to work with me to drive the plot forwards, control NPCs and introduce new ideas.

My Limits
I don't have very many lines to cross when it comes to RP. Gore, violence, swearing and so on simply adds to the realism. There are certain things I won't write (incest, for example), but most of the limits in any RP are determined by my partner. Thus, I expect you to let me know what you dislike in an RP.

Now, with that out of the way, I can get onto my ideas.

Betrayed
Dumbledore is not as white as he's painted. From his very first years, Harry has been manipulated and lied to. Placed with the Dursleys to make him meek and malleable, blocks on his magic and innate gifts to keep him weak, Gringotts mail redirected so he never knows of his inheritance and the thefts made by Dumbledore and the Weasleys (and possibly Hermione; I'm open to whether or not she also betrays Harry.) During his hospital stay after Voldemort's resurrection, Dumbledore, thinking him asleep, discusses his plans with Snape, and all is revealed.

Begins the summer after Fourth Year.

A Responsible Harry
Instead of choosing COMC and Divination for his options, Harry steps up to the task of holding off a vengeful Dark Lord and takes Runes and Arithmancy. He also begins the harnessing of his far above-average magical power (casting a corporeal Patronus that fended off a hundred Dementors in third year, anyone?) How will the Death Eaters stand up to a Harry who is armed with skill, knowledge and ancient arts from Slytherin's Library in the Chamber of Secrets?

Starts around Sixth Year, after two-to-three years of Runes and Arithmancy and training.

Dark Harry 1: Riddle Junior
Voldemort is reincorporated far earlier than before, when Harry is five and just starting to show his magic. Recognizing the boy for who he is, the Dark Lord is intrigued by the young wizard who survived the unsurvivable and takes him away, raising him as his son. Six years later, his Hogwarts letter arrives...

Starts at First Year, but probably timeskips a bit until we get to somewhere around Fourth or Fifth year when the fun can really start.

Dark Harry 2: The Other Dark Lord
It is said that when you look into the Abyss, the Abyss also looks back into you. And so, with a connection to Voldemort bleeding the deepest knowledge of the Dark into his head every night, Harry Potter begins to put into practice what he has gleaned from his foe. It's time to fight fire with fire, but how will Dumbledore, Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix take it?

Starts at the beginning of Sixth Year

The Change
You don't have the venom and tears of the world's two most powerfully magical creatures of Light and Dark in your veins for nothing. During the ritual to resurrect Voldemort, the magic involved kickstarts the properties of the Basilisk Venom and Phoenix Tears in Harry's blood. Now, a strange, half-human combination of deepest Dark and purest Light, Harry must find a way to conceal what he is from the world at large even as he struggles to defeat the Dark Lord...

Starts summer after Fourth Year.

Star Wars Crossover 1: The Youngling
Four-year-old Harry Potter, after one beating too many, wishes that he could be somewhere else, and his magic obliges. When a young boy covered in bruises, scars and broken bones appears in a wash of Force energy in the middle of a Council meeting, the Jedi find themselves with a gift from the Force...

Starts when Harry is five. May or may not crossover back to Hogwarts, depending on how it develops and partner's preferences.

Star Wars Crossover 2: A New Hope in Magic
Includes elements of A Responsible Harry in terms of training/increased power.

After long, gruelling years of war, Voldemort is finally defeated... but at a price. With his final breath, the Dark Lord tears open a rift in the universe and casts the twenty-five-year-old Harry Potter through, hoping to obliterate him once and for all. However, the infamous Potter Luck comes into play once again, and Harry finds himself caught up in the middle of a war between a galaxy-spanning Empire and the few who fight for freedom...

Begins somewhere around Episode IV. Luke doesn't play as big a role in the Empire's defeat.

Star Wars Crossover 3: Unexpected Saviour Inspired by something I read on the internet.

However, the infamous Potter Luck comes into play once again, and Harry instead finds himself landing on a rich, vibrant world that practically glows with magic...

Begins on Felucia just before Order 66. Partner plays Aayla Secura, who is saved from the treacherous clones by Harry.
Definitely interested in this.

I'm thinking of a son of Hecate...

Im going to wait for one more person before I start making the ooc.

Hello!

Question: do we have to have a character from another universe, or could I use one of my 40k OCs?
I'm definitely in.
