Once again, I have somehow insulted you. And yet, once again, I meant no insult. There is no tongue-in-cheek, there is no passive aggressive subtext. I am being completely and utterly straight with you, and have never done anything but. I am being as tactful as I can be while addressing the points you have raised.
I'm not attempting to exert control over anyone else. I had avoided mentioning this before, but you incessantly speak as though I have been arguing against anyone besides you, which is incorrect. This is purely between us, there are no others involved besides potentially the GM as arbiter and judge over the situation.
However, I would state that I am backseat-GMing. This is because I have, in fact, GMed this, and have been running with this setting since it first started some 4 threads ago. This is not an excuse, this is an explanation. If you will, I shall cease acting as such, and attempt to remain more of a player.
I do not believe you have any ill intention, as I specifically mentioned in my previous post. I believe you're attempting to create a rich and awesome story, and I'm fully confident that you're sufficiently skilled to create great stories. However, I've also seen that your character practically removes the reason for any other vampire character's existence through his sheer power. I also know that half the roleplays I'm in die because someone decides to play the Unbeatable Death God.
Now, when you address metagaming, you have a fair point. In truth, I missuse the term, as I was referring to 'Metagamer' as the term is used in the D&D Dungeon Master's Guide, to refer to a player who loves influencing the flow of the story by maximizing the power and influence of their character. I used this unwittingly, creating this confusion and quite probably doing me no favors within your opinion of me with this seeming insult. It was not intended as such, and I hope that you understand what I was attempting to say. I apologize for the apparent insult.
Actually, his weakness is drones. I quite specifically mentioned them. Remote controlled killing machines already employed in the army, capable of destruction on a large scale and unhindered by Gabriel's psionic capabilities. They're a weakness that's easily accessed if one knows how to use them, and completely ignores all of Gabriel's powers. I don't know if you simply overlooked them, as you only mention deviations and mental blocks, but they're the big one.
I retain the right to alter the actions of my characters. Kami-no-kage is my character, and as such I am free to act upon him in whatever way I wish to. Your point is moot, as you yourself state.
Read the text above.
So you have Brittain. Okay.
If you wish to make a request, I would debate you on the validity of such. If you convince me that you are correct or if the GM states so then I shall make any alterations as required.
How would you stop a Purge infiltrator, when they're not carrying any weapons or indications of them being Purge? There is no way of knowing, without performing torturous interrogation at all airports. You seem to forget that Brittain is a country, and infiltrating a country unarmed is a matter of buying a flight ticket. It's not like they're planting bombs, at which point they would have been stopped quite rapidly. It's just dudes who occasionally send an Email to their bosses.
Also, a vampire infiltrating the Purge would be laughable, as they'd need to wear a hazmat suit to ensure they didn't burn to death from all the holy water, incense and dead man's blood in the air. Furthermore, all Crusaders are outfitted with infrared visors. Someone lacking body heat is going to get noticed. If you want a vampire's thrall to infiltrate, however, that's far more plausible. I would prefer it if you discussed it with me first, however.
Why France? Also, I believe transporting the entire cast to France might form a problem, especially as Magnus seems to be planning a second attack on US soil.
Appearance:
Name: Ares-4000
Age: 12 years
Gender: N/A
personality: Ares-4000 was built for war, for death, for slaughter. He is a relic of interstellar battlefields, a soldier without an enemy to fight. He is capable of most human emotions, but in a limited capacity. And he handles them with care.
species: Biomachine
Relation: He trusts the members of the Iron Talons, for sheer virtue of them being warriors. He can relate to many of them in the fact that they seek to fight for whatever cause they believe in.
Weapons: Ares' entire body is a weapon. His strength is immense, formed by three layers of reinforced carbon-chain muscles, allowing him to rip through steel with his bare hands. His skin is a suit of biometal armor, laced with molecular tubing and regenerative carbon-chains, his blood containing unspecified stem cells fed energy directly from the Fusion Core that is his heart. His reflexes are beyond human, and his entire sensory array is reduced to tiny clumps of cells, spread out over his body. he's capable of synthesizing a highly acidic substance, which is fired at high velocity from his mouth.
gear: Again, his entire body.
*Sigh*
Just from the tone of your wall of text I can see that somehow I have managed to offend or anger you. This was not my intention, I simply wished to point out the flaws in your concepts.
I'll run through your wall of text, ignoring your insults.
First, molecular destabilization is nonsensical as an offensive weapon. I could go into detail on this point, but doing so is meaningless.
I can completely accept protective wards, and something being protected against decay. To me, that makes absolute sense. Assuming Merlin did ward the place, taking into account that he was a powerful wizard, it's most likely well-protected. However, a nuclear bomb is capable of annihilating entire countries. The radiation, heat and shock wave combine to create a wall of destruction that leaves very little of anything even remotely intact. There is a big difference between warding off decay, and warding off the equivalent of 50.000.0000.000 kilos of TNT.
Bedhivere's belief is relevant to the current IC situation. If, according to you, Bedhivere does not see nuclear bombing as a threat, then feel free to act on that premise and call Mathew's bluff. It's your character, and his beliefs are fully yours to control. However, this does not impact the fact that you made your castle nuke-proof.
Your information about the method in which Bedhivere is guarded within Camelot does severely influence my approximation of how powerful he is. I lacked this information previously.
I am a critical person for multiple reasons. The first is that I am critical by nature. The second is that I fear that overpowered characters can easily rip apart a roleplay and destroy it. In my experience, if a metagamer like you is allowed to go out of control, then they can - without any ill intent - ruin the experience for others.
The above is not meant as an insult. You have a great way with words, are excellent at describing both people and situations, and have a rich imagination. I love your reworking of the Arthurian legend, and Bedhivere as a character. However, much like me, you're a metagamer, and unlike with myself, I have no control over your actions. That makes me paranoid, and while I would love to simply blindly trust that you will not abuse your vastly overpowered character, I just don't know you and that worries me. I fear that your actions will remove agency from all other characters.
Furthermore, I would encourage you to question me in all things I do if you believe they may offer any form of harm to the roleplay, or distress any characters, or if they simply don't make sense. I will enquire and debate you on the subject, and then, if I agree with you, I will make any alterations necessary.
I have explained Gabriel's weakness previously, as well as the extents and limits of his power. Here's a quote, dated 20 days. You may find it on Page 14 of this OOC, if you wish to check.
Let me clarify Gabe: Gabriel is a boss. Although it has never been previously established just HOW old he is, suffice to say he's old enough to have met Cain in person, and have been worshipped by the Mesopotamians. He is absolutely ancient, and he was created for the purpose of being a mystical, mysterious, thing. Now, the whole 'no magic' thing has already been shattered, this run has a lot more magic than previous ones (where Mith's pyrokinesis was a topic of debate, and Gabriel was the magicalest magic-man out there) so he's no longer as magical as he used to be. However, he's still massively psionic, capable of great mental feats. Gabriel can instil emotions in people, create illusions, generate insanity, read minds, and do many other things. He has never, however, 'mind controlled' someone. The act of mind control takes control away from a player, and this decreases people's fun. As such, I never plan on having Gabriel do anything like this. Instead, he merely shifted Kami's senses slightly, causing him to think the heart was a bit to the left. To balance out how rampantly powerful Gabriel is, I added in several factors. First off, he doesn't pick sides. He has no intention of saving humans or vampires in particular, and doesn't care for either. He might interfere occasionally, for fun, but he isn't going to 'fix' the results of any battle. As such, he doesn't take agency away from the players - their actions are still what determines the outcome of the battle, and the story as a whole. Furthermore, while this has almost never come up, Gabriel is physically weak. While he's still stronger than a human by far, his strength is barely above that of a Newblood, and any Oldblood should be able to beat him down in a physical confrontation. I created this so that, if one takes into account Gabriel's capabilities, there is an effective counter to them and chance of defeating him. He's certainly powerful, but use of robots, drones or people like Mith (who are immune to psychic tampering) will nullify his greatest abilities. Thus, to me, are the basic rules of making an overpowered character. If one 'side' has a truly OP character, then other character's actions become irrelevant compared to this overpowered character. In order to preserve agency, overpowered characters must always be neutral in a conflict. Furthermore, there must always be a method available to defeat them, if necessary they should serve as a 'boss battle' for other players to gang up against.
The Purge are and illegal military force that exists within America, and is in direct confrontation with their military. The only reason they are not being exterminated is because (1) they're hard to find/identify before they're rallied by Kami no Kage and (2) They only hunt vampires, and as such are less of a concern. Better yet, they almost exclusively hunt down compact-breakers like Magnus. As such, the military isn't nearly as bothered with exterminating them. Do recall that SOLDIER (Matt) pretty much attacked them on-sight, and initiated all hostilities that ocurred between the two parties.
But you're right that I hadn't thought of the specific political ramifications of the clash between the Purge and SOLDIER in Kilo Point, and should pay more attention to that. Most likely, both through the display of advanced weaponry and because of the battle between SOLDIER and the Purge, they're going to have drawn more military attention.
I did not expect to meet Bedhivere. And as previously established by Matt, he likes to meet people in person. Which is why he didn't send a proxy, which would have been much safer for him. Hell, from the way things are turning out, this mistake may cost him his life. This is not a principle I expected Bedhivere to share, especially with his focus on secrecy.
As previously stated, Mathew Stone does not have any nuclear weaponry. The UK quite probably does have nuclear weaponry. Also, it would be in control of the Brittish Government, as opposed to Bedhivere. This is, assuming he's not pupppeting the whole country.
There were millions of vampires in the world. Either in secluded vampiric communities such as Brittain, or integrated into human society. They were a plague, spreading from person to person. Rats, to be exterminated en mass.
However, there was one thinge ven greater than this disease.
The Oldbloods, the Elders, the Nosferatu, the Ancient Ones, the Vampire Lords. Whatever name they dained to go by, it was irrelevant. Those vampires that lived long enough to sink into a state of absolute sin became demons, cased in the remains of humans. They weilded power far beyond that of a normal vampire, and had far greater control of their instincts. They were the masterminds of the war against righteousness, they were the beasts that would rip down the walls of human perseverance. Unrivaled in speed, strength and unholy power, they were the bastions of this Dark Crusade.
Luckily, there were only a few of them, and they were easy to keep track of.
Brittain was a country governed by vampires, but despite this it was a part of the world of politics. Humans were free to move in and out of the country, provided they could provide the proper legislation. Had Brittain truly secluded itself from humanity, it would have sunk to the depths of poverty. As such, it had been relatively easy for the Purge to slip a few men and women through, devoted followers who fought in a war of information, rather than a war of arms.
A woman quickly stalked Void from afar, blending in perfectly with the crowd, a trained spy. Whilst the trailing of a vampire was impossible in most situations, with so many humans bustling about their business, her scent was indistinguishable from the masses. He was heading towards an airport, and already she had communicated Void's location to her leaders. Already, too many oldbloods had joined the fight against humanity, no more could be allowed to reach America.
Even after Void had bought his ticket, the woman simply followed him, preparing to join him in his plane. She would need to ensure that he did not somehow leave the plane. He would find that the Purge gave warm welcome to those of his kind.
With a slap, gold-inlaid tip of Gabriel's cane wiped across Mithias' face. "And here I thought you'd changed. Am I going to need to find a doctor to surgically remove the stick from your ass?" Gabriel turns away briskly, making a sound similar to 'harumph', like a mildly annoyed elderly figure might. "You manage to free yourself from one master, and then blindly jump to the next, arms spread. Do you truly believe that becoming my property would somehow give you more fulfillment than being SOLDIER's bootlick? I didn't save your sorry ass just so you could become some kind of butler to carry my drinks. I have thralls to do that for me!" Gabriel's voice had risen in tone, showing the signs of his temper tantrums. He was not easily angered, but doing so was usually the prequel to civil war in whatever poor country he happened to reside in at the time. Already, nearby people could be seen glaring at one another as Gabriel's annoyance leaked into the environment.
Gabriel sighs, calming himself even before Mithias could attempt to do so. He steadies himself with his cane, and glares at Mithias with one eye. "We don't usually agree on things, you and I. I suppose I'm just too old to see things from the perspective of a toddler such as yourself. But if you simply walk up here and profess yourself my slave just because some moron in a tin can nearly stabbed you, then everything you said about changing the world was bullshit, and you know it. Go die in a forest fire for all I care, but at least do it on your own volition, as your own person, instead of someone's hand puppet. The strings are cut, and it's time to dance." Gabriel illustates richly, as if he were orchestrating some form of dance routine.
