Mankind has always scorned the things that go bumb in the night. The monsters that sneak in through your window, the thing that's half-seen in the dark. I'm not here to tell you that they're real, and that you need to keep it a secret from your friends and family. I'm not that cliche. I'm here to tell you why you're told not to leave your house after curfew, why everyone prays to Lord Justice. I'm here to tell you why nobody talks about the disappearances, and why Africa is a wasteland. It's because when you have a nightmare, sometimes, just sometimes, it doesn't die when you wake up. Sometimes, the things linger, beyond what you can see or what you want to believe. Monsters, the word is so ridiculous, really. Silly. Funny. When the Old Gods awoke, and fire rained from the sky, it wasn't funny.
We nuked the shit out of 'em. We sent in guns and bombs, and we've been fighting ever since. We took down a God with three nukes to the face, lose two thousand men, and since then, they've never been so obvious. We sacrificed Africa to kill the second God. The moment the governments heard it was in the continent, the entire place was nuked. But the governments fell after that. Snakes the size of skyscrapers, spirits that can't be hurt by any weapon not of magical origin. Wars waged, the likes of which you've never seen. And, in the end, humanity was forced into space.
The sun you see rise in the morning is a holographic projection. The disappearances are either victims of the Old Gods, or the test subjects of some new weapon being developed by Lord Justice, the man who brought us to space. The Enclave is the name of the space station you're on. Here is the home of the last surviving two million human beings, out of 8 billion. But there are more down there, still fighting back, surviving against all odds. So, now that you've heard the story, are you willing to join in the good fight? Will you follow Lord Justice? Or will you fight on the Surface? Will you rebel against Lord Justice, or join forces with the Old Gods? With Magic and Science rampant, with genetical enhancements and demonic possession everywhere, are you even really still human? It's a wide world out there. Let's start this party.

Personality: Zelos is a bit (A BIT?!) of a ladies man, charming and hitting on every woman he meets. He has a rather happy disposition towards most things, almost borderline stupid with it, but is quite perceptive and can be surprisingly sensitive. He prefers to bottle up his problems and hide them with a cheery demeanor.

Abilities/Enhancements: He is a Magical Swordsman, able to use a sword with deadly expertise, his sword made of a magical material that spontaneously lights on fire when drawn and snuffs out when sheathed. He prefers to train himself and rely on his own bodystrength without any enhancements. Still he is one of the top mercenaries you can find. Sure in this world how can you kill monsters like those who live there? Therefore he uses special ammunition, like a medly of firepower, explosive ammunition, holy ammunition, highly penetrating bullets and last but not least, supersonic bullets.

Personality: Violent. Jeanne is subject to constant suggestions from a machine embedded into her brain, and just barely manages to restrain herself from day to day in order to avoid just tearing random things apart.
History: Lashed together with random bits of machinery, untested enhancements and augmentations, Jeanne Forest was intended to be a great defense against the aberrations raging about on the surface. The general plan, according to files left behind by the people that worked on her body, was for her to act on behalf of the humans and help everyone out. There were a few miscalculations, however, and Jeanne retained some level of her sense of self. She has since escaped, and rebelled against the accursed science that threw her aching, mutilated body together.
Abilities/Enhancements: Visible in her imagery, she has a modified arm, capable of putting massive force into its swings. In addition, one of her eyes has been replaced with a targeting system -- mostly useless to her unless she gets her good hand on a firearm. Her body has been made very durable, with an uncomfortable layer of strong material interlaced alongside her muscle and bone.

Personality: Ashe is a polite, sweet girl, but she has no qualms with taking down things that are a threat to herself or people she cares about.
History: After having her sister taken away for whatever purpose, Ashe became rather depressed. She wanted to know what exactly became of her sister, and after learning about the experiments, she simply could not support Lord Justice. She remained on the surface after catching a ride with a group on the way there, and joined up with her sister to fight back.
Abilities/Enhancements: Good old human ingenuity. Ashe has a very quick mind and notices some things others do not -- minute details that most would pass over as irrelevant.
Gear: One semi-automatic gun, borrowed from another resistance member.

Name: Byakuren Hijiri (Byakuren Hiziri)
Race: Magician (formally Spirit)
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown, at least 1000 years old.
Personality: Kind, thoughtful, and prefers balance in all things when possible. Byakuren is the kind of person who helps any and all that come to her seeking aid, within reason. She still holds true to her Buddhist ideals, even forsaking meat and alcohol for her beliefs. Of course, she does not tolerate the breaking of rules within her temple, often arriving to break up squabbles that might occur within.
She wishes for humans and spirits to co-exist with each other, going to great lengths to preserve the fragile balance between the two existences, even though that was what had been the cause for her to be sealed away.
She speaks with a serenity few in Gensoukyou can call their own. She is fairly mild mannered and has never been seen in a state of anger, almost as if untouched and detached from the world. Some call this enlightenment, but she insists that it is only patience and steady training and that anyone could do such a thing if they worked hard enough for it.
Her actions and words are generally thought out before she actually speaks. Though she doesn't always speak many words, the meaning behind them can speak volumes if one were to look deeply enough. She seems to have a degree of love for everyone she meets, no matter who they are or what they might have done; everyone can be saved in Byakuren’s eyes.
History: Prior to the events of Undefined Fantastic Object, Byakuren's brother passed away; a tragedy that caused her to grow a fear of death so she used her power to maintain her youth. Byakuren was also fond of humans, in fact she wanted humans and spirits to co-exist. The idealist monk was ultimately sealed away in Hokkai by humans for hundreds of years. This however, did not cause her to bear a grudge to them.
Abilities/Enhancements: Ability to use magic (specializes in magic that increases her physical abilities)
Gear: Her magic scroll is her only weapon that she carries, making her seem weak to few. She has a hoard of spells kept up in there, though.

Personality: Jacque is an...abrasive...individual, he can be crude, short tempered, and vicious, though if he warms up to you he'll generally be somewhat less of an ass.
History: Jacque wasn't always a walking talking ass, his personality stems from the fact that as a child he was an inhabitant of South Africa before the continent was blown to pieces. Three days before the nukes reduced his home to nothing the government tried to evacuate as many families as they could, dropping them onto neighboring islands before transporting them to the Enclave, Jacque's family only made it as far as Madagascar before the transport ships began to run out of room, until Jacque's parents chose to stay behind while he got on board. Needless to say, Jacque along with thousands of other people were pissed, pissed at the fact that the government had allowed countless people to die, pissed because they had no home to go back to and were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and most obviously, pissed at the gods. Jacque focused his fury on the gods with laser like precision for years, honing the elemental abilities that his ancestors had passed down through the ages, that up until now he'd tried to keep secret from the humans. Secrecy be damned now, Jacque wanted nothing more that revenge.

Important People and Beings
Lord Justice
Among the confusion of death and destruction that occured when the Old Gods struck, anarchy reigned. After the God of Life was struck down, and rose anew as the God of Death, the Old Gods ripped apart the human governments, leaving nobody left in charge. However, from the common rabble rose Lord Justice. He grabbed onto the strings of power, and organized the human armies. He combined the global military forces in his name, and struck the second blow. Against a guarded army of demons and angels, monsters and beasts, he initiated a slaughter. It was he who sacrificed Africa for the Greater Good, permanently destroying the God of Justice.
As leader of all of humanity, Lord Justice himself soon rose to godhood. Christianity soon hailed him as the Second Coming, risen to save humanity from darkness. He became an idol of worship, using science to fight back against magic. Under his guidance, science moved faster than ever, and men went willingly to their graves, fighting for their families. Eventually, Lord Justice launched a space city, called the Enclave. From this palace in the sky, he's launched nuclear strike upon nuclear strike upon the earth, which are mostly blocked by the God of Air. Lord Justice cares for nothing but his own life, and the death of the Old Gods.
Drac, The God of Death
Also known as the Lord of the Fallen, Drac leads an army of ghosts. He was once the God of Life, progenitor of a family of godlike beings, all of whom were slaughtered. Brought back by hatred and the power of a God, Drac became the God of Death. He is wrath-bound, slaughtering all humans as vengeance for his family, whom he saw killed before his eyes by the power of science. It's said that under his dark cowl, lie either the eyes of a madman, or the essences of sorrow and pain.
Ventus, the God of War
Also known as the God Without a Heart, or the Lord of Blades. Ventus was once a man, a great warrior, champion amongst mortals. He was a swordsman without equal, who mastered the world of mages and monsters. However, craving ever greater power and respect, Ventus stood before the Old Gods, and proclaimed that he, too, would achieve godhood. For this act of bravado and heresy, the Gods took Ventus' heart, leaving him without emotion or reason. He became a merciless killer, and achieved his goal of becoming a God, although still he has not retrieved his heart. Many believe he no longer wishes for it.
Aono, God of Mercy
Also known as the Everchanging God, or the God of Justice, the God of Mercy was the first god to be struck down as the Gods emerged. Ironically, the God of Mercy was the only one of the Gods who wished for peace between the humans and the Gods. It is this belief which caused the other Gods to let him die when the humans launched their nuclear missiles.
Bob, God of Joy
Reveling in all human thought and emotion, the God of Joy covers the domains of both Creativity and Insanity. Undoubtedly one of the more powerful Old Gods, the God of Joy uses music and laughter as a weapon, causing waves of suicidal depression and wiping out cities with a tap dance. It is said that the God of Joy never planned to destroy the human race, until they struck down the God of Mercy. However, these rumors will never be confirmed.
