corpus is a mix of different things basically resulting flesh but corpus sounds cooler and they're my fucking elements -_-

However, your opposites are absolutely nonsensical. If you made a shield of earth, lightning attacks would have no problems piercing it. In fact, earth is a better conductor than air is. Air is a notoriously bad conductor. If you create a shield of matter, it's not going to stop time attacks. A shield of fire will not stop wooden arrows, simply turn them into flaming wooden arrows, which means it'll be even more painful when they hit you. A shield of ice will be molten and pierced by lava, and a shield of darkness is useless to defend against light. The problem is the difference between opposite, and what offers the best defense.
When facing light attacks, I'd use a mirror. Darkness is pretty much cancelled out by light, and not at all a useful defense. What one would think to be the opposite is quite often useless when defending against attacks of that element. if we're saying that you can manipulate elements, then you should be either using the same element to nullify it, or using the element that offers the best protection from said element. For example, electricity cannot travel in a vacuum, and thus a lightning attack, no matter how strong, will be blocked by a vacuum.

.....why......

A better question would be which side he was on (=

We also ended up talking about this kid in 1st year.....long story short we're pretty sure he's a nazi, and our teacher was like "Yeah, I've heard about him....." so obviously it's not just the people in my class who've noticed it

He hates Jewish people?

the opposite of wood is fire, electricity is earth, and stone would be lava. diamond is under the crystal element which has the same opposites as stone, and psychic energy is the opposite of the corpus element, the opposite of love is hate (both of which are a pain in the ass to make) and ice also represents cold. also, this doesn't make you tired like normal, it expends mental energies to remember the arcanum and bring them into being. other than that you can do what ever and not expend much energy :P

Wood is flammable, but that doesn't make fire it's opposite. by that logic, fire is the opposite of every flammable material, and believe me, there are a LOT of flammable materials, which would be just plain silly. Fire can also melt matter, which would make it the opposite of all matter. That's complete bullshit.
Earth is a confuctor for electricity. All mattter contains electricity within itself in the form of electrons. How can Earth be the opposite of electricity? It isn't even the greatest isolator. That one's straight from magicka, and while I can see where that belief comes from (the grounding of electricity) it's not valid.
Corpus? You mean a corpse? How is that the opposite of psychic energy?....... I don't even get this one.
Actually, hate is caused by love, and love is caused by hate. Both psychological research and practical research shows us that the two emotions are intrinsically linked, and cause one another. While this was the obvious choice, love is a unique psychological state of mind based on an overdrive of many other mental states. Hate is, more accurately, another form of Love, both of which are a form of obsession.
Creating matter or energy requires the use of energy. This is a basic law of magic. Unless you can explain how this works, you're still going to be using energy. And remembering things doesn't expend mental energy, that's bullshit.

I would rather just not talk to them. And it's nearly impossible to speak to them individually. I mean, the ones who aren't too bad would be easy to speak to, but the others.....yeah it would be literally impossible :P

Exactly. Extremism is bred by groups, not individuals.

Oh, and, I remember a few months ago one of the boys said that he's against gays because, and I quote, "he doesn't want boys liking him"Like, dude, no. I can think of plenty of girls that would not want you liking them, but it's not their fault you're straightAnd this same guy has a twin brotherWe're all pretty sure his brother's gay. That's where it gets complicatedAnd apparently he said that if he brother is gay, he's going to disown him and never talk to him for the rest of his life. Tbh it seems like something he would do.

Either that means he's uncontrollably extreme in his views, or he's bluffing. I have two brothers, and I wouldn't disown them for ANYTHING. I don't even know if that's legally possible.

They're sexist, homophobic, racist, and just plain ignorant.Re-reading that, it does't sound as bad, but I got really annoyed. But the good thing, is that we can choose to leave school at the end of 4th year, and judging by the type of people they are, a lot of them are probably gonna leave ASAP, meaning I'll never have to see them again. And I'm not going to be in a lot of their classes in 3rd year......

That's lucky for you. Hopefully they'll be able to revisit their views later in life. My advise is to speak to them 1-on-1 instead of in groups. Groups promote irrational views in individual members, and the spirit of the group can drive one to greater extremes than individual minds will allow.

then i guess ice is lava's opposite :P and matter is time's opposite. see you're solving your own riddles :P

Matter can AFFECT time, as can be seen during, for example, space travel. However, it does not counteract time. That's like saying that time is the opposite of ice, because ice can be affected by time.
And ice is simply another form of water. And it's not an opposite, as it can't cancel lava out. Instead, you're using a force that can affect lava, and then attempting to create a temperature so low it'll freeze the lava. However, time is required for this change to take effect. If you want to instantly freeze lava, that will take a lot more energy than counteracting it or creating it would, meaning you would rapidly tire yourself out.
If you want to expand this, name the opposite of stone, wood, or electricity. What's the opposite of diamond, or psychic energy. The opposite of love, There are tons of things which have no specific opposites, i can name a stack more.

Long story short, I had SE first period, which is the class with our guidance teacher, and because we're going into 3rd year, and we've done the whole course choice thing and stuff, we were talking about careers, and how certain groups of people are at a disadvantage through no fault of their own, and halfway through the period we started doing this thing, where on the tables there were statements, and we had to write on a sticky note (in groups) what they thought of it. The boys were being really sexist on one of them. One of the statements was "homosexual males shouldn't be allowed to work with children" and they all agreed (they also said that boys can't be nurses, they HAVE to be doctors). My and my friend started arguing with them (keep in mind that a LOT of the people I'm friends with aren't straight, so some of the stuff they were saying really annoyed me), and it got to the stage where me and my friends were pretty much shouting at them. Eventually our teacher told us to sit down so we could discuss it.Their arguments were stupid and didn't make sense, like, according to them, "gay men shouldn't work with children because they might fall in love with them and rape them (pretty much the exact words)" and I was like "That's paedophilia, not homosexuality! They are NOTHING alike!" and none of their arguments made sense and it just annoyed me so much some of the stuff they were saying. One of them went back to the whole Adam and Eve excuse, and I was like "You don't believe in God, you cannot use the bible as an excuse" and by the end of the lesson it was the teacher trying to talk to them, and them giving arguments that made no sense, and I was just sitting with my head on the desk because I was so annoyed at them, I couldn't even look at them.At the end, me and a couple friends sort of stayed back a bit (we had music next and the music teachers are really nice, so it wouldn't matter if we were a bit late) and the teacher was saying she was really surprised at how homophobic they were, and she thought that because we were younger, we would be more acceptingAnd please don't say "don't get annoyed at them, try and see it from their point of view" etc. because I physically can't, because what they're saying makes no sense whatsoeverRant over

Damn. I wasn't going to say anything of the sort. Their point of view is stupid and silly, and you should try and AVOID those points of views. What you're dealing with their is a belief based on faith, at which point their arguments will make no sense. At which point, you can never win a discussion like that.
