Gabriel smiled his customary, cold smile. "I wish for you to detain any group that is scheduled to go after Magnus. In return, I will personally convince him to relocate and live to fight another day. This saves you precious men, and saves me an old friend." Gabriel's position shows that he obviously has an ulterior motive here. There is no recorded meeting between him and Magnus, and such an event would most definitely have been recorded. Gabriel does not have a history of protecting vampires, or interfering with SOLDIER at all, although he loves observing combats. Whatever the reason behind this move, Gabriel's face betrays nothing,
Here comes the plot.
So there's a city called Hope, which floats in the sky. A superhero-wannabe called Captain Awesome with the power of lightning rises up, together with a few players who have long since disappeared. There's a climatic fight between Abbadon the Demon Lord and Captain Awesome during which several nuclear generators are destroyed, causing portals to an alternate version of Hope called Fear to open. In Fear there are dimensional opposites of each of the players, except those who had at this point already disappeared without any explanation. The heroes from Hope move to this new location, with the exception of Captain Awesome who dies in order to save Hope from falling into the abyss.
Fear is ruled by three crime lords, the Lords of Fear. Kami, Captain Awesome's opposite, rules an organization called God's Tears, a church which is a cover for a powerful group that controls the economy and trade of Fear, manipulating all events that occur within it's bounds. Aisyle, Ellysia's opposite, who leads Fault, a group of rogues and scoundrels that perform assassinations and sabotage missions. Lastly, there's Appolyon, who rules the Corrupted Quarter, an area filled with demons and hellspawn. He's quite obviously Abbadon's opposite. The heroes interact with these crime lords, before Kami takes control of Fault, forces Aisyle into slavery, and creates a pact with the demon lord Appolyon. This effectively makes her the sole Lord of Fear.
Kami, however, has much bigger plans. She sends the heroes, now mostly under her control, back to Hope to scout their defenses. However, an unstable portal takes a character that has left back in time to where she saves Captain Awesome. He then continues to become the city's sole protection against Kami, as Ellysia and Aisyle work to further Kami's goals at gun point (metaphorically speaking). Eventually Kami launches an all-out attack, slaughters Captain Awesome, and sends out her brainwashing spiders to take over all major political and religious figures. However, in the time it takes for her to make her first appearance on Hope, the heroes have a brief chance to kill her before she gains complete control over the world economy.

You're currently trapped in Captain Awesome's opposite. You know how in the end Captain Awesome was stable, and almost sane?

Gabriel smiles, as he sees his son fly out in his little toy plane. What a rebellious boy. He needed a stern hand, Gabriel was sure, but he believed that if he let the child explore the world on his own, he'd eventually get over his daddy issues. It was getting rather silly, but he shouldn't encourage the poor boy. He was simply going through a phase, he'd be done in a few hundred years. Gabriel spoke to Varomere through the speakers. "You should retract that, m'boy. I'm quite wanted, and the higher-ups wouldn't think twice about blanketing this area in bombs. Which would be very effective, were it not for all the poor SOLDIERs who would be caught in the blast." Gabriel walked on, knowing that Vladomere's conscience would prevail. Simply because he disagreed with his son's morality did not mean he couldn't use it. And it didn't hurt to remind the boy of how harmful this morality was to his chances of victory every now and then.

Not fatal, it wouldn't do to start off a diplomatic expedition in such a fashion, but enough to ensure he would not be disturbed. He opened the door, and found the CO of Kilo Point, a man he had heard was called 'Matt' sitting at his desk. Fantastic, negotiations could begin early."Greetings. I'm sure you know who I am. "These fine folks here were just questioning the sincerity of my challenge race." Bob reaches out with one arm, and a coin appears in his hand. He flips it into the air. "Now, I don't really like it when people question me. I'm a very honest person." Bob catches the coin. Tails. Shame. He gestures, and Yang explodes, blood and gore raining down over the group. "Well, that was fun." Bob then reaches out, and pulls Yang out of a fold in space-time where he'd stored the poor fellow for a second. "Now, does anyone have anything else to question about me? I can assure you all of my sincerity." Bob gives a relatively convincing smile, patting the shocked by unharmed Yang on the head lightly as he magically removed the blood stains from his suit.

Bob turns, seeing Silver approach. A hedgehog. Bob had never thought of hedgehogs as being a particularly interesting species, but this seemed to be some kind of hybrid between a human and a hedgehog. What a mating THAT must have been! Smiling, Bob speaks to the new arrival. "My dear friend, didn't you hear my announcement? There is a challenge race going on! It's good luck that you found me, or you would have fallen behind!"
